No reason to get married at all unless you want to have kids, and I can't think of a good reason for that unless you have incredible genetics so know your kid is going to be successful and/or want to spend every minute of the rest of your life living to take care of someone else.

I'll pass on both personally. Too many potential problems.

I disagree with the author completely on what matters most in life. If I was dying today, I would not look back on my life with regret that I didn't have a child/wife, because I think having a child have a high risk of cursing that child with the same problems I've dealt with in life. My regret would absolutely be a lack of sex, romance, and casual dating.

Maybe other people have different priorities, but that's what I would like out of life.

In the end, even regret is meaningless. Once you die, there is nothing and no one will remember you in a generation or two, so who cares?

I married in my mid twenties and had a kid. Now my wife and I separated and I'm paying child support. I have to say getting married young is a mistake. If you have money or plan to have money one day, getting married is a mistake period.

Family court favors women. Women are the ones who file for divorce a majority of the time. It's just not worth it. An ltr is good enough to suit the needs of a man who wants a long-term close relationship to a girl. Hell, plate spinning per sosuave is what guys should strive for. Pvssy and relationships without the strings of losing half of what you own. As long as your careful to not have kids, you won't be stuck paying a stipend to a woman for 18 years.

You got some points.

But you don’t care about others who are married and have 3 healthy kids before 40?

And yes, no reason to get married but if you are 53 and not married no kids, no one is going to go out of there way to invite you anywhere.

Well a case of "getting married" young....

70% of millionnaires were married in their teens.

If you have a purpose/a goal/a dream other than "sex" , getting married allows you to relocate your time used to have "lay/plate/gf" to "building my wealth" .

You just need a chick that will support your growth and goal. It's during the "teen" to 20s that you growth the most.

If you got the girl young and early, as per high score theory, and with the time passed together. She'll likely to give you ALOT of free time to pursue your passions.
ex: you've dated 5 years... now you annonce to your gf you'll backpack 3 months in Europe alone... she likely to say yes.

About kids: sure a kid creates a "commitment', it also requires alot of time and energy. Energy is more plentiful when young... A lot of succesful people had Kids in their early 20... it creates a sense of urgency and energy requirement that stimulate drive for success. The other side is succesful people have kids later.. After the business mayhem.

Alot of MD and Pro-Athletes have their management team promote that they get married young and fast.. For stability and Focus on career

BTW... Divorce rate is 4% for family with 3 kids ;)

I can’t think of a single chick I know in my 20’s who would have supported my goals. They all wanted me to just spend money on them.

Author has a point that married men earn more.... but what he missed is that married men get divorced more than single meno_O

The huge X factor is whether or not you meet a quality woman. I sure as hell didn’t at that age. The girls I met were on the c0ck carousel or had long term boyfriends. I’m glad I drank and partied when I was young cause if I didn’t and got married I’d feel like I missed out.

I think the case could be made that marriage allows a whole lot of time spent trying to get women to be devoted to doing constructive things in life. YouTube philosopher Aaron Clarey notes about how much time & money is lost by men trying to chase women.

Energy is definitely more plentiful when young but the social culture and enconomy doesn't seem to support marrying in early twenties. I'm referring to mainstream societies where most of us live, not religious societies where they do get married young.

The average person in their early twenties is in college, living with one or more roommates or still living at home. The level of education and training time and experience (even for trades) required now to get ahead doesn't change if you get married at 25 despite how much more you can focus on it. Throw in a child and it makes it even harder to focus on those things because at that point you have a dependent to consider. Can you do a 6 month unpaid internship at a big company that would open up doors if you can't afford to not get paid for 6 months because you have a mouth to feed and her income isn't going to be enough? Two income necessity in most parts of the world now.

Back in the day you could live on one decent income and grow in the same company with benefits and pension. Now it's contract positions, crappy benefits and no pension for many jobs.

Socially young people are encourage to be single and free, find themselves and all that stuff. It's a much more self centred/ self discovery world now.

I wouldn't compare the marriages of pro athletes with us regular folks lol. They make millions so economically they can afford to have kids. Also their girlfriends lock them down asap and many turn a blind eye to the cheating (very prevalent with pro athletes many stories online about this) to have the lifestyle. They also get better branding if they appear to have a stable family life.

Biologically ideal for young couples to get married and have children - best fertility level and healthiest sperm, but economically and socially it's not compatible, these are the times now, for better or worse :/

How many guys here want to spend a whole lot of their time trying to change a woman into doing stuff she wasn't doing before they got married? I can't speak for guys obviously but I would think it's at least more fum spending energy chasing different women then spending it trying to change one woman lol ;)

The majority of the reasons the author mentioned for marriage are surface things.(money, being a cool grandparent, etc)

I think the biggest reason and only reason to get married earlier in life is because women have less emotional/mental baggage. They haven't had 5000 miles of cahk ran threw them and don't suffer from as many mental issues as a result.

Somewhat related re 5000 miles of 'stick'. A few weeks ago I was looking through the documentaries offered in Netflix and there was one about girls getting into amatuar porn and I watched some if it. The stats are 1000s of girls ages 18 to 20 enter the porn industry every year. That, plus the sugar daddy stuff and tinder, so normalized now it's crazy.

It was sad, how cool these girls thought it was to do porn and live in a house together like it was a sorority or something. Very pretty young girls, their whole life ahead of them .... Wasted.

Oh we saw the same ''Hot Girls Wanted''. They did a follow up on that documentary in Florida recently. The promoter is doing great.

It showed how ''porn girls'' are usually: damaged goods or attention *****. And it's not always because of them but because they were ''Betrayed by a guy they trusted and loved''..... One of the girl said it: ''After a 6 months to 1 year dating, I gave my virginity to my boyfriend only to be dumped the next day... So sex is just sex... nothing special I guess''

Porn turn over in girls is 3 month... Male porn is around 1 year... sure it ''pays'' but there is so much around that you end up at square one if not smart.

I agree on you with Energy and Society, high-profile athletes

However, are you a master of your destiny or a product of society ?

I come from a family where the mom had a kid at 21 years old, married, student, extremely conservative parents. I saw many ''succesful'' families like that.... MD who were students and parents of 3 kids in their twenties etc...

Yes, the world of 21th century move so fast and more unpredictable.

However, I think most couples of went throught the ''hard times, challenges, struggles'' end up stronger, more motivated to succeed.

It's like I wrote above.... when you have a Wife doing a Master degree, a 2 years old baby, no stable income.... you better succeed, you better make sacrifice.

Succesful people are those who paid the price for success... they made the sacrifice and it paid off.... some pay it and fail... some just remove themselve totally and stay low,,, some just go for the ''safe''.

You know why Pro-Athletes and Movie Stars are super-paid (I mean in the millions?) ? Because to be there, to be in the team, to be on screen.... He beated 200 000 people.... He's the #1 winner and only winner of a game where 200 000 competed for the spot.

In LA... it's said 1 millions people are ''wanna be star''... so Tom Cruise beated 1 million people! But for that he had to ''Sacrifice, Work Hard, Seize the Moment, Luck, Good Gene, Will'' etc...

The same for CEO and pro-athlete... if being at the top was soo easy... everyone would be there... but its not... so society rewards intensively the only person who makes it....

Even in Kingdom (King) is the same.... The King survived the power struggle... He owns the wealth..

All seek to pass the wealth in their own family... it usually last 12 generations.

So millionnaires/billionnaires in the USA...80% came from poor families, 70% were married in their teenagers.

If you have a Stable Partner (and hopefully Happy).... You save alot of time and can focus on ''productive'' stuff

High Score Theory, and it's true.

If the ''woman'' started with you...she's likely to be more accepting of your ''life''.

The more you wait... the more ''bagages'' and ''unaccepting of little differences'' she will be.... until she hits the wall. It's crazy how the ''little things in the dating phase'' are now ''deal breaker'' (i guess its unhealthy girls that are like that)

According to new studies ...Divorce rate are going down (so is marriage) and people over 35 years old divorce less (many due to ''financial needs'' or ''they know what they want'' aka hit the wall), since 2012.

Get married for kids :p

Yes that's the one I didn't know there was a follow up I will look for that.

I was young when I got married and had my daughter and know exactly what it is like to go to school with a baby. It was very hard but a choice we both made, to have a baby. We fumbled with trying to balance things and things didn't work out for our marriage. I do feel like our maturity level and unrealistic expectations on both sides contributed, along with not being financially secure enough re jobs.

We still both get along and have moved onto other relationships but we came to a place where we acknowledged that we were not ready for that kind of responsibility. Don't regret having my child but I would be lying if I said it wasn't very hard and if I had my time back I would of waited a bit longer.

I can only speak from my experience, but if a young couple choose to go that route and get it right my hat is off to them, they at least have a fighting chance to stay together :)

There's a girl I flirt with that used to "joke" with me about giving her money...eventually find out she's on Phrendly and just saw me as a mark for cash always lol. Extremely nauseating and sad to see that mindset.
Dodged a bullet with that one!

Yes it is sad. What's even sadder is when third wave feminists cry oppression when a girl is sexually objectified by her date, but accepting money to be sexually objectified is seen as 'female empowerment' via sugar daddy and escorting.

Total hypocritical bs. How is it female empowerment to basically put a price on your dignity?

If you think most modern women will stay and be faithful to a husband in this day an age with the copulous amounts of easy c0ck around, you are sadly mistaken. Fact, not fiction. The # 1 killer of all relationships is boredom.

I think that IF you are determined to get married and have children, maybe it's better to get it out of the way early. That way, if you end up divorced and paying child support (which you probably will), at least you can get that paid off by the time you're in your 40s. And hopefully at that point you are still young enough to make up for whatever financial disaster you have found yourself in.

Besides, from what I understand, having children is exhausting, and the younger you are, the more energy you have.
