Do you think you would be more blissful?
And why do you think so?

Holy ****. Do you have skype? I would love to chat with you for a while. You can pm me your Skype.om1xr said:I know where you are going to or what you are looking for with that question but I don't think a lot of people are going to understand.
In short: money, status, looks, social life and hbs can give short time satisfactions and pleasures but the ego will never be happy or fulfilled even if you have the looks of model, the body of arnold, the money of bill gates and the fame of a really famous actor because all the ego know is more and the ego is never satisfied.
The person with 10 milions want 100 millions and so on.
The person with the hottest/funniest/most charming girl cheat on her with an ugly maid lol.
The person with fame start hiding from the camera after awhile.
There is really a psychological prison that's more fúcked up than a prison in world war but most people are so involved in the ego illusions/matrix that they can't see or don't understand how a person like bob marley did all what he did and wanting nothing in return or how a person can leave new york or paris and go live in the wild.
But on the other side for normal people money, status, looks, fame, successful dating history can make their journey in this life more easy on the material side but on the spiritual or psychological side a good looking billionaire with the most beautiful girls on his arms can feel empty and sad inside and normal people can't understand the reasons behind his misery.
You see dear Espi,Espi said:I've never understood the mentality of someone who even questions whether money makes somebody happy. Not one person on this board will write a check to me because they have too much money.
Everybody wants more money. Nobody wants less.
And by the way if anybody does have more than enough money, just write a check to Espi.
I personally think that MORE is one of the best words in the English language. An aspiring DJ will want more money, more women, more of the good life. I personally think that men could aspire to be more.in all things human.

I believe that in life, you have to constantly do something. The mind wants to constantly do something. And it is okay, it is normal.jurry said:The fame status babes im not worried about, the money is a killer though.
While it is possible to function without much money - be homeless or live cheaply or live in a monastery or something, some degree of financial security makes a huge difference for a person, allowing you not to have to slave away at some exploitive job for low pay.
Guarantee me an average salary and im a happy man and it isnt about needing more and more, just living with dignity and some freedom.
Since you are happy, ever since 2011. Dont you feel boredom or a need to get more and more? Its been 4 years since you have archieved your goals. You should be happy, and this is what you stated. But for 4 years what have you been doing? Have you not been trying to get "more" and "better" in anything? This is weird because there are not many people like this.Tenacity said:Happiness is subjective, so before we talk about if something will make someone happy, we have to first ask what that person defines as happiness and also what brings them enjoyment.
For example, I doubt that a gay man would find happiness in having more women lol.
To me, happiness is more of a state of being, that is, being in a state that you prefer to be in within all of the major areas including financial, social, cultural, dating wise and health wise.
For me, that state is:
Financial: Making at least $60k a year in a great cost of living area, with no kids and no wife, managing my expenses and taxes efficiently, and investing/saving greatly. To live in a great area and drive a nice looking car.
Social: To be relatively attractive and continue the ability of meeting women, dating women, fvcking women and doing short term relations (under 3 years on average) with them.
Health: To be healthy internally and also to have a decent looking display when I take my shirt off.
Now, ALL of these have been achieved and in place since 2011. So for me, I'm already in my happy state, and anything ABOVE these states is just extra for me.
This does not mean, however, that I don't have days where I'm depressed or sad about something. Even in my depression I'm happy, because my happiness is tied to the structural foundation I've put in place.
Most of my depression or sadness today comes not from truly STRUGGLING, but mainly due to my consistent reaching for more accomplishments and running into the frequent roadblocks that come up in the process.
You are definitely on to something here..om1xr said:I know where you are going to or what you are looking for with that question but I don't think a lot of people are going to understand.

I wonder if anyone else feels that Joseph is contradicting himself too much here.JoesphBrown said:I feel like I am happy as is and I'm sure I could be happy staying exactly where I am in my life.
However I defiantly am not satisfied with where I am I don't know if I would be any happier with more money, women, fame etc however I feel like I would feel more fulfilled if I had more of these things. If you place happiness on things like money you will never be happy. However I see no reason why I should every be satisfied with what I have with life. Everyone should always be wanting more
I know right? And the bigger goals and the more you invest in them, the more the quantity and quality of the suffering and joy is!zekko said:A lot of this forum is about self improvement. If you set certain standards and goals for yourself, and then fail to meet them, then I do think that can cause some unhappiness in your life. That's what they call taking responsibility for yourself. You take responsibility for your failings and realize that they are your fault. And yes, that can make you unhappy.
Similarly, if you set these goals and achieve them, there is a certain amount of satisfaction and happiness that results. So if you set certain financial goals for yourself and meet them, for example, yeah the money can make you happy.
I have all the freedom I have right now. And I believe every celebrities do. They always tend to end up in drugs tough. I wonder.old married dude said:I'll take the money, it can technically buy you everything you need/desire.
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy freedom, and freedom will lead to happiness.
