You guys got it all wrong. From what I understand the reason for changing the home page was to make it more attractive to the masses so that it could generate more revenue. This makes sense.
The fact is that most Net neophytes will gravitate to a more polished looking, generic site than one that reminds them of hackers and pirates which the original page probably did. That original "underground" look was great for all of us that have been here for a while and understand the content there in.
However, for the AFC noob coming on board, they seem to need a more "user friendly" type site. What would be more attractive to them than seeing some stereotypical,
Mathew Lesko looking, AFC type guy getting kissed on the cheek by
any girl?
Understand that the home page does not necessarily represent the content nor the existing members, it's trying to attract guys that would benefit from the site's content and the experience of the existing members. More noob throughput could mean additional sponsorship (funds) for the site.
Given that, the home page still leaves a lot to be desired but it is serving a specific purpose.
