Hello. I am starting to diet and work out. The diet is not a big on. I will just cut down on eating what is bad. No fast food, soft drinks, unnecessary sugar/carbs. No sweets. I am not planning out a big diet because I know I can't stick to it. Eating is just one thing I desire. Basically do not eat what I know is bad for me. I don't like eating fruits or vegetables, except for broccoli and corn. That is my biggest downfall in my diet. Tomorrow I will hit the gym and lift weights and run. I will set a workout plan, it is one thing I can keep regular. Probably about an hour at the gym every other day. I will outline every workout I do tomorrow when I get the names of them. With the dieting and exercising, I will also start to read. A book called, "The F$ck Up" by Arthur Nersesian, hopefully it will be at the library tomorrow. I read this a few years ago and it was good. My overall goal is to lose 15 lbs. I am 20yo, 195lbs, 6' tall. With this plan, does it sound possible to accomplish this? Please critique as needed.

15 lbs is like a month and a half away. Is that all you really want? Cause if you keep the calories low with no carbs several hours before sleep, hit the heavy weights, and do cardio, you will done quickly. Maybe a better goal is in mind?

I think I can shoot for 25 lbs. I'd like more. I want to have a muscular build. I could do the no carbs before bed and low calories. Is drinking diet drinks bad for my goal?

Don't drink any of that garbage. A better choice would be juice and an even better choice would be water or fresh natural juice(freshly juiced apples/oranges for example)

Anything is possible...as long as your dedicated and put your mind to it.

Get your diet dialed in!!! That is where most people fall apart. Just start eating healthy and pretty soon you'll get used to it...and have a much better healthy body!!

Regardless of the myths surrounding them that people believe diet soft drinks are perfectly fine to consume as much as you want of during weight loss.

I know because I've done this with no ill effects.

Well none that really mattered.

I suppose with the salt in them you could experience a bit of water retention ie water weight not lost immediately but the main goal of losing weight is losing adipose tissue ie fat in your fat cells and drinking a diet sugar free soft drink will not effect your fat loss in any way.

Also another alternative to regular fruit drinks is the excellent tasting Crystal Lite brand of sugar free diet drinks and sugar free diet Kool-Aid.

Heres my workout that I did toady:

Bench Press
3 Sets of 95lbs, 10 reps each

Incline Bench
1 set of 55lbs, 15 reps
1 set of 60lbs, 10 reps
1 set of 65lbs, 7.5 reps

Decline Bench
1 set of 65lbs, 9 reps
1 set of 70lbs, 7.5 reps

Triceps Push Down
1 set of 50lbs, 15 reps
1 set of 55lbs, 10 reps
1 set of 60lbs, 7.5 reps

Low Row
3 sets of 60lbs, 10 reps each

Forearm Curl
3 sets of 25lbs, 10 reps each

Lat Pull Down
1 set of 60lbs, 15 reps
1 set of 65lbs, 10 reps
1 set of 70lbs, 8 reps

Calf Machine
1 set of 45lbs, 10 reps
1 set of 70lbs, 10 reps
1 set of 90lbs, 10 reps

Leg Machine
3 Sets of 180lbs, 10 reps each

Sit Ups
1 set of 20
1 set of 15

I got real soar since it was my first day in a few months so my incline and decline bench are down. This took me ~45 minutes. Any critiques?

Routine and diet both need work. You need to get motivated to do this properly. You will see some results, but why not do things properly from the word go?

From the looks of things, you may be setting yourself up for muscle loss. Post exactly what you eat today, at each meal.

Today my diet was poor. I had a chicken breast seasoned with teriyaki sauce and oregano. I think I'm gonna have spaghettitonight. And 15 cheese pringles. What I usually eat is: bow of cereal for breakfast. Burrito nachos or chicken fingers at the food court for lunch. Dinner consists of a frozen dinner sometimes. Peanut butter sandwich during the day sometimes. Not the best diet, but it could be worse/and better.

Edit: I will be making a trip to walmart in a day or two. I will be looking for low calorie and carb food. I drink skim milk. Any suggestions? I like any kind of meat and not a big fruit/veg eater.

I'd start following this as a training plan:

http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=125444

Diet wise if you feel it is a major problem then start of on four meals a day. You need to eat roughly like this:

http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=134782

Obviously if you are following four meals it is slightly different. Try to have 3 solid meals plus one shake. Getting in a protein source in each meal. You should be eating the foods outlined in the thread above. Don't have any carbs 4 hours before bed, so your last meal should be carb free.

No cereal and limit the milk. Take a packed lunch instead of going to the food court. Beef filled wholemeal sandwiches for example. You need fruits and veggies for fibre and a host of other things.

Cardio is also important, depends whether you want to do low intensity, HIIT or both.

You either do this properly or not at all. Four meals is the minimum you'll probably get away with, without losing muscle. Maybe you have good genetics, but don't count on it.
