I was talking to my aunt today, since I am staying with them for about 2 months doing a internship. We where just talking and I said "I dont see the point of moving out, I mean you get food and my mom does all the laundry and takes care of everything and you get to be with your family"

She said "I think thats a very bad idea to stay at home, you never learn how to take care of yourself and mature and no woman will want to marry you"

I said " I dont want to get married"

She says "you wont even have a gf"

I said "I dont care about having a gf"

She said "haha...yeah right"

Even though she said it in a relaxed tone, I felt that she went straight for the "You wont ever get a gf" topic and thats strange. I mean how can she tell I want a gf, unless she can just see it in me.

Thats the part that worries me, I never told her I want a girl friend but she used that as a way to try and motivate me to try and be more independent of my parents.

How can she tell that I want a gf, when I never talk about it, and I never even hint at it. Can other girls tell, thats the part that worries me, is if other girls can sense it if my aunt could. Is it possible?

If you want to grow up, you'll need to move out and fend for yourself. Staying at home past the age where you should be able to take care of yourself will hinder your development.

Women want guys who havew their sh!t together, and anyone who's living with their parents and is over the age of 20, doesn't seem to be that type of guy.

Have you ever had a GF? Maybe your aunt is trying to suggest you should start growing up and coming of age. She's pretty much 100% right on the money, from a certain point of view.

You must have that desperate look in your eyes man, or she could have just said it as part of the general idea that all men want women.

I know for a fact though if you want women really bad it shows, you will reek of desperation and that is a turn off to women.

whatever do you base the age of "20" on? why 20? just a number you decided on one day?

Good post but my 20 year old friend lives with his parents and is sleeping with a hot, Russian, 28 year old Cameron Diaz look alike. For the most part your post is right on the money, girls want a successful guy and a guy that lives at home isn’t successful.

I'm saying that at age 20, you should be mature enough and ready to live on your own. It has nothing to do with getting women.

What about guys who are going to college? How can you expect someone to afford their own place and all the expenses that go with it while they're going to college? Sometimes the reality of the day is stronger than a want for independence. Also staying at home past 20 does not mean you're necessarily a loser. My cousin lived at home until he was 23, and he's very succesful. During his time there he worked, saved his money, paid his own way completely, put in on groceries, and went to school to learn to be a welder. He had been able to save up money due to not having to pay rent, so when he did get out on his own he did a lot better. Now he owns a very nice home and is on his way to being retired by 45.

See! People think that there´s only one way to live. Saying that living with your parents means you´re a loser is the same as saying all women are fvcked up. In Italy for instance, very grown up men live with their parents and it´s considered normal. At any rate, living alone is the fastest way to grow up in my opinion.

If you're going to college, 90% of the time you're still living on your own. Very few people end up living with their parents while they attend university. Why would you? A big part of the college experience is getting out and being on your own for the first time.

Ok, so now we have the college guys. Most of them move out and go to university by the age of 18-19.

Then we have the guys who go straight to the workforce and within a few years after highschool, they should be ready to move out on their own as well.

You guys are twisting what i said into something else. I'm not saying that guys who still live with their parents thorughout their 20's aren't successful with women. What i did bring up is the fact that most of the selfsufficient men; the ones who have all the skills needed to live on their own would more than likely be moved out by age 20... and these are exactly the types of guys that women want. The ones who made it on their own terms.

By age 21, you should be mature enough to be out on your own. If you are over that age and have never thought about leaving home, yet... you have some maturity problems, IMO.

We all need to get out and figure things out for ourselves... staying under mommy and daddy's wing for too long is really bad for you in the longterm, no matter how well they take care of you, right now.

It could be a bit of a generation gap, because I'm almost 28 and some of you may only be 19-20 and haven't seriously thought about moving out, yet, so you might be offended by what i said because essentially I've called you lesser men.
That wasn't my intent, but i stand by my beliefs that if you're mature enough, you should be out on your own.

I live at home.....in a 6 bedroom house where i have 2 bedrooms to myself. One with a double one with a single. I get all my meals cooked and free. Washing done for free.

Not forgetting its summer and i have a swimming pool....Girls always understand why i aint moved out. Its not like a cant afford it. Why bother when i have the above.

Dont take dating advice off your aunt. My grandma says no women will marry me while i live at home. What does that old bat know.....

Home is safe. Moving out teaches you to be muture and responsable but you have your entire life to do that. I will move out after this summer when im 21 and a half....which i think is fine.

Well, you're wrong because my cousin is that type of guy. More so than anyone else I know personally.
