Is it just me or is music just getting suckier and suckier every year?

Rap used to be really good until it went to pop music (yes it is pop music now since every suburban white boy raps about how his parents are @$$holes and how they had a bad home life except for the fact that their parents bought all of their sh!t. I just laughed at the one kid who talked about a bad home life and then I met the parents and they were cool with a six figure income.).

Then there is the sh!tty bands such as Nickelback and other bands of their like. They are second rate musicians.

Then on the bottom of the heap, right beneath polka music, is emo music. I don't need to go into that any further other than saying, "Emo Music BL0WS!"

Music now relies more upon how good someone looks instead of musical talent.

C'mon where is the soul of rock and roll like it was in the 1960's and 1970's. Punk music and a good amount of country music has some sort of soul in their music.

I generally agree with you, I hate rap and Emo.

What do you consider good music?

Haha, dude you got it all wrong.
They are in the entertainment business, not music.
My personal opinion is this: a musician is someone who writes the music, the lyrics and performs it.
If he can't do that (either alone or in his band) he is an entertainer, not a musician.

comic_relief bro ur right, Beyonce's song "Irreplaceable" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks! That b itch is annoying, and Chris Daughtry is like "Nickelback Lite".

Yeah, nickelback annoys the crap out of me. The local rock station here, Rock 105.3, is run by a ballsy broad who hates Nickelback, 3 Doors Down and Daughtry, and refuses to play any of them on her station, which is the biggest station in America's 7th biggest radio market. All three of those guys are WELL aware of her and the station that refuses to play them, but she keeps it real.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

My consideration on what good music is,
  1. country music
  2. 60's and 70's rock and roll
  3. easy listening
  4. swing jazz music (I dance to it)
  5. some ska music
  6. rockabilly
  7. some punk such as c0ck sparrer (british punk band)
  8. There is a lot of other things out there that I listen to.

I just hate how people think music is so GREAT anymore. MTV is the ruination of music as we know it.

I dont listen to much(IE any) easy listening,or ska,but the rest of the list plus red dirt, heavy metal, and techno(without lyrics) always gets me feelin good.Red Dirt is pretty much red-neck drinkin music, heavy metal has some great beats, and techno is great for workin out, partying to,and staying awake at work.Just my 2 cents worth.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

I have no clue where the good music went. Even Jet's new album isn't that great (I loved their first one).

My tastes:

Punk Rock
70s-mid-90s rock
Rockabilly (hell yeah cr!)
Some *old* country & western (new country blows)
Some 80s pop

This is the argument that's been going on forever. If you don't like what's on the radio, then listen to something else.

There's PLENTY of good music out there. You just have to go and find it. And the internet makes that so easy its amazing. If you have internet access and an issue of rolling stone, you won't have to worry about listening to nickelback ever again.

And Jet's new single sounds like Oasis. Lucky for them, Oasis is rad.

(My pizza is so emo, it cuts itself.)

The new Jet single is allright. I checked out some more of their album and for me it seems to be lacking in the "interesting" department when it comes to catchy riffs, breaks, and lyrics. On the Oasis note, I had someone ask me if "Sgt. Major" was an Oasis tune while playing it in the car. Hard for me to judge since I haven't really listened to Oasis.

You could probably make a fortune by marketing pre-cut pizza as "Emo Pizza". Just make sure you get somebody to cry into the vat of tomato sauce.

Here is a video of Elliott Yamin...my favorite singer. This is the first time I heard him sing. He's since gotten his teeth fixed, has longer hair and looks much better...but his voice is amazing. His first album will be out on March 20th and he's got a radio single coming out in a week or so. Anyone who likes people who not just sing but "sang"...check him out!

Oh...if you like Janis Joplin or Ani DiFranco, do a search on Tami Gosnell...she's really good too.

If you want good music dont focus on the radio, that's nothing but a sheppard for the sheep. Look outside of mainstream. Try bands like:

Porcupine Tree - Rock, Progressive Rock with Pink Floyd influence
Riverside - Progressive Rock, heavy but with Punk Floyd Influence
Angra - Power metal
Isis - Post metal, pretty heavy but not a lot of vocals
Wintersun - Death Metal with Prog, very technical and beautiful melodically, this will rip any thing you listen to guaranteed, just stay open to harsh vocals
Agalloch - Very good Prog Metal
Children of Bodom - Standard Metal but nice starting point
Blind Guardian - Cheesy but you might like it
Dragonforce - Also cheesy at points but great guitar work
Ensiferum - If you like wintersun give this a try
Explosions In the Sky - Instrumental rock stuff if youre interested in exploring
Giant Squid - Prog Metal/Rock, very good but after a few listens
Kalmah - Death metal
Mogwai - Instrumental rock
Opeth - Prog Metal/Death Metal, another cornerstone band, much better than bands like Tool
Phideaux - Prog Rock
Sigur Ros - Very mellow rock
Symphony X - Prog metal
Transatlantic - Prog Rock/metal
Rosetta - Heavy stuff even for Post Metal but if you want to hear real musical exploration try this

Note, none of this stuff will ever be on the radio, but all of it is supperior to all the new music garbage out, referring to rock bands such as Nickelback

Hope this helps if youre serious about wanting some good music.
