I just noticed that most of the Music that's produced is AFC...or carrying AFC Ideas...I mean Lyrics here...

Do you agree?

Even the music with a good tune is ruined by afc crap.

Yes, and we've been programmed to believe in it, too. These stupid Disney fairytale songs and stories have ruined masculinity.

yeah that's the worst part..now when I analyse my teen days... I was too much into music...and that was the point when AFC ideas started seeping into my subconscious...

it kind of works like this if the tune is nice ..then whatever the words are they will seep into you...

I'd say angry hip hop (though still pathetic) is far better than that of AFC music...

Good Point

Principle of Demand And Supply.

Most men are or have been some kind of AFCs in their lives (I'm no exception)...no differences if they know the term or not...

My buddy got cable and on it was MTVU which is college rock, something I usually like. I can't remember the band, it was some emo/alternative group and the first line was in a whiny voice "the best thing about tonight is we're not fighting" and I had an immediate visceral reaction. I couldn't stomach it.

Why are you fighting? After a few fights, and you don't think you're good together, drop her.

I don't know if it's from getting older or just talking to the guys here but most of these lyrics are whiny and come from the mindset of proving yourself to the woman.

One thing I like about rap/hip hop, is though even it's over the top in general there's a sense of masculinity in the lyrics. To combine that with decent melodies/harmonies of a good memorable song would be a good thing.

I just watched 8 Mile (Eminem Starrer)...awesome stuff ..not lame like those of 50 cents....

I used to like Linkin Park some years back ..but I find them very depressing...there are lot of great things to cherish in life ...:D

I would call this over-analyzing.

Music is music.. Listen to whatever you want.

How exactly can you relate music to an average frustrated chump? Just because something expresses feelings doesn't mean its AFC.. I think you need to start listening to music for what it is... music. Songs aren't meant to teach you how to live your life.

No it doesn't. But there are songs that are about being an AFC. "Girl, please approve of me".

There are different levels. What I think is being discussed is the tragic, "my life is over because the girl doesn't accept me" type of lyric---which is exactly what we discuss on this site. So you're going to think about these new concepts and then NOT NOTICE those SAME sentiments in the songs you hear?

So now you're singing along. "girl take me back I'm such a hopeless loser with you please approve of me". In itself it's nothing. It's just a song. The point is when you identify with the lyric.

If you say "yeah that song is about my life, I want the girl to accept and approve of me, I'm gonna keep listening to that song over and over again" then you are reinforcing your own helplessness.

Better (to me) type lyrics are "even though this sucks I'm going to be fine" there are plenty of songs like that as well.

Nothing is more AFC than Christian Rock

I drum in a samba percussion band. No lyrics, just sick ass beats, with nothing but hotties shaking their ass for us while we drum.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

When I think of the bands I listen to, especially when I was younger, there was nothing AFC about the following...

Killdozer, Butthole Surfers, Pussy Galore, Bongwater, The Doors, Big Black, The Damned... not a single 'I'm so pathetic, please take me back' lyric between them.

Gangasta rap? No thanks. Try out pretty much anything from The Dillinger Escape Plan instead.

For example, some lyrics:

"Black Bubblegum"

Got so much salt from your lies poured into me
You didn't see yourself dead already
So full of with every breath that you breathe
But you forget that in your fairy tale I'm the wolf
All this attention got you thinking that you're a queen
You think that everything you're doing isn't a dream
Long as it feels alright

I had gotten frozen by that way you walked
By the love that you gave by that look on your face
It's a coverup
I know everything

You're made for four-letter fame
Regret is part of your name
There's something you couldn't tell
It's what you wanted to feel
It's what you're dying to feel

Check out your face on the wall
Like what you see?
I'm sure you see yourself oh so unique
You're just a sucker for the flame of the week
But you forget that in your fairy tale, ***** I'm the wolf
All this attention got you thinking you were a queen
You thought that everything in life you want should be free
Nothing is what you think

"Sunshine the Werewolf"

Cry your eyes bloodshot while there's still time 'cause soon it's gone and you'll be so shocked one queen-sized coffin
That was built for two is your death bed it belongs to you tease me baby please me with the fresh disease hope riding on a
Bullet alive tonight you know we couldn't get it right come save your life tonight you know we'll never get it right don't
Try to swim to shore because you can't go back say three words like they're the last you'll speak curtains drop concealing
Appearances of heaven destroyer there'll be another just like you you're not the only one I'm not the only one watching the
Fallout fly back up walking where time stands still see how our love kills dropping curtains down concealing appearances
Of heaven without my existence you are nothing without my affection you wilt we ****ed like a nuclear war release... ****
Off see how I let you down watching fallout fly back up

Listen to Hank III

Crazed Country rebel.

Well, I was rollin' by myself, went down to Memphis, Tennessee
and I was lookin' for a guy who had a mullet and no teeth
and I was trippin' on some acid a latino gave to me
Hey, I was smokin' morphine 'til it knocked me off my feet
Then I scored some "H" from my old Uncle Pete
now I'm startin' to feel like I might've ODed

On an overdose of drugs, overdose of sin
I'm gonna live it to the fullest like I'm on ten
and I love gettin' high - hate bein' low
and I like to drive my truck down a muddy dirt road
and I'm workin' real hard, tryin' to get paid
'cause I'm a crazed country rebel and I'm driftin' state to state

Somehow I made it up to Texas with a carload full of grass
and I'm seeing all these pigs who wanna bust my ass
and I'm always livin' hard - always smokin' weed
now I'm hangin' out in Texas drinkin' mushroom tea
and I'm ****ed up on the floor - think I know why,
must've been some of that Boone county moonshine

and an overdose of drugs, overdose of sin
I'm gonna live it to the fullest like I'm on ten
and I love gettin' high - hate bein' low
and I'm always about stayin' on this road
and I'm workin' real hard, tryin' to get paid
'cause I'm a crazed country rebel and I'm driftin' state to state

I tried to get up off the floor, tried to get myself in line
'cause the ceiling's talkin' to me, and the pisser's flushin' fire
That's why they call me 'full throttle' - I like a good time
it all started at a bar with a friend of mine
Had to hook me up - he said he'd blow my mind
I've been up for four days so cut me out another line

of an overdose of drugs, overdose of sin
I'm gonna live it to the fullest like I'm on ten
I love bein' high - hate bein' low
and I like to drive my truck down a muddy dirt road
and I'm workin' real hard, tryin to get paid
'cause I'm a crazed country rebel and I'm driftin state to state

My Drinking problem Left Today.

She said she's gonna quit me,
If I didn't quit the booze.
So I just started drinkin' more,
To see if she would really choose.
And I have to hand it to that girl:
She meant every breath.
An' I'm glad she did, 'cause I was about,
To drink myself to death.

Because my drinkin' problem left today.
She packed up all her things and walked away.
Well, it looks like off the bottle now is where I'm gonna stay,
Because my drinkin' problem left today.

-Instrumental Break-

Well, she said I had problems:
Boy, was she ever right?
To keep from goin' home to her,
I'd stay out, drunk, all night.
And I believe that woman left me,
In the nick of time.
If she'd a-stayed much longer,
I'd have drinked up my last dime.

Because my drinkin' problem left today.
She packed up all her things and walked away.
And it looks like off the bottle now is where I'm gonna stay,
Because my drinkin' problem left today.

Yeah, it looks like off the bottle now is where I'm gonna stay,
Because my drinkin' problem left today.

i agree

every song that comes out has mostly afc lyrics. but if you notices songs by lil wayne and certain rappers have masculinity(ambition for money goal, putting woman below money, and willing to conflict with anybody to get to the top).

Then take somebody like chris brown who sings stuff like "with you",disney shows, and pop artists.

Which leads me to the conclusion, WOMEN LOVE RAP, THE MEN THAT RAP ARE DISPLAYING MASCULINITY. rappers get the most, rock stars who sing about hardcore stuff do too,and masculine artists.

There's more masculinity in rap, but it's the other extreme. There's also more to life than money and being a pimp. It's looking for validation, in the other extreme. AFC is "pleas accept me for being a wvss" rap is "please accept me for having lots of money", it's never about who they are, but the wealth they have.

At the same time, I'm going to have to say rap still comes out on top.
