The label cop, the uniform, and the gun give a majority of cops the confidence they have. Stop being fags and saying cops are bad ass. Some are good, some are pricks, just like in every other aspect of life.

Think for a minute. Someone sits in an editing room and chooses what to show and what not to show. COPS isn't some unbiased look into the life of a cop.

What you need to happen to you, when you're older is when you buy your first expensive car. A cop pulls you over for speeding or whatever. He asks to search your vehicle, you exercise your 4th amendment rights and say no. He takes you out of the vehicle, handcuffs you, goes into your car and starts digging through it.

Let's say that night, you just happen to picked up an HB8 that had a little crack on her and she hid it under her seat. The cop finds it. You're under arrest and going to jail now. The cops impound your car, but before you'll ever get to see that, they literally disassemble your car from ripping the seats out, to checking under the car casing.

Your dad decides to bail you out before your trial for possession and you go down to the impound lot to get your car. You fork out a $500 fee and find out that you can't drive your car home because it was destroyed. And your insurance doesn't cover it.

I think that would be great justice or karma for you.

To the discussion at hand. I wouldn't call cops alpha males. I'd call them narcissistic fascists looking for subsistence. Not all of them, but the ones that act like they have the right to be fascist little nazis like cop movies. The ones that are good actually understand the concept of rights.
Well you really got to blame the legislature for giving the police this kind of power and effectively signing away all of our rights. this why I usually opposed to all new laws.

Well, lets see... you stole something, no matter how miniscule the item's worth may be the person is still BREAKING THE LAW. As for business cheating customers, it would depend on the circumstance and what type of "cheating" they were doing. Maybe I'm fortunate where I live...I've been pulled over a few times for no reason, but I don't complain...police response time to a call when some thugs tried to rob me nearby my old home was less than 5 minutes, and they apprehended the idiots... Alot of ignorant people talking really big in here...I'd love to see the same things being said off the net haha

Mostly it is just an illusion that they are serving the public.

If you walked into a business and stole a dollar item, and someone representing the business reported you to the police, the police would come and cite/arrest you. However if that same business were to knowingly cheat their customers and one of those customers became aware and called the police, the police would claim that there is nothing that they can do. You would have to deal with it in civil court.

I'm just saying that the police are there to serve and protect, just not you and I.

Chuck Norris made them put that rule in.
no he didn't. no need. chuck norris was originally cast as the main character in 24, but was replaced by the producers when he managed to kill every terrorist and save the day in 12 minutes and 37 seconds.

My dad was a NYC police officer for 18 yrs...my dad is also one of the biggest AFC's you will ever meet. My mom left him in 1992, and for yrs he tried to get her back. He still talks to her to this day, they talk at least 2-3 times a week, if not more. My mom has always been notorious for copping attitudes with him and he just sits there and takes it up the ass. It pisses me off, because he should defend himself and not let her treat him that way. He caters to her every whim. By the way, my mom cheated on my dad with his friend who was also an officer, whom she is currently "with".

Remember, certain types of a-holes don't get laid :D
Precisely.
Your post pretty much sums up some of the juvenile thinkers around here who are still hung up on the 'if an a-hole, then an alpha' mentality.

I know plenty about cops. Previously in my work I have had to look at their internal affairs files. My personal favourite was the cop who was caught with the prostitute in an unmarked police car by a highway patrol cop. He says to him, can't we just forget about this. But the highway patrol cop wanted to go by the book. He got a departmental reprimand.

Aggressive people are drawn to become cops, this is where, the genetics seeks out the environment. Not every cop joins as a result of this personal insight though. Some non aggressive types join. Most have authoritarian personalities. Read up on those social psychology experiments. Harsh with subordinates (thats you Joe Citizen) craven before superiors (his boss or a judge.)

One ex cop offered me the opinion that cops are cowards, brave in a group, but gutless when alone. Probably true for many people too.

Cops drink too much and have a lot of psychological problems, read your Joseph Wambaugh novels to see how it is.

Being AFC is a multi faceted thing. Just because you beat up people doesn't mean that you don't ball like a girl when you get nabbed for corruption. They can't take the loss of prestige image and gaol time.

I've heard that a lot drink too. I wholeheartedly agree that a lot are nutjobs and have psychological problems. A lot of them are "Sociopaths" that lack a conscience. A lot of them get a thrill and get off from harrasing and putting people through hell.

A friend of mine from high school became a cop. He was thin in high school but he bulked up a lot since then. I barely recognized him when I saw him. He actually looks like he can put the smackdown on a criminal.

I think this is pretty accurate assesment.

Most cops I see around seem to have the typical tough military look with the square jawline and seem to have somewhat aggressive personalities.

I would imagine MOST cops do not have passive personalities because the job does not allow it.

I would disagree only b/c two buddies I went to high school w/ ended up becoming cops. Neither are pua's nor are they super tough. Just average guys that always wanted to be cops.

Personally, I think state cops are tougher than regular cops only b/c its so much more difficult to become a state cop. Tougher recruiting standards.
