I was just wondering if smoking a little reefer everyonce in a while is as bad as people say it is. I mean it makes you feel good and all and should'nt that be a positive thing? I have heard people my whole life say how bad drugs are and how they ruin lives and such. And I've listened to them too.

I don't smoke pot...but I was wondering if their is potential hazards in smoking it every so often. Just to kinda relax on the weekends and stuff like that. I know some girls like to smoke it.

Also, if one was to smoke, how long would it take to get it out of his/her system. Like if they wanted to get a job and they had to pass a piss test??

"If you smoke it occasionally it will remain in your system for up to 10 days. If you smoke marijuana on a regular basis it will stay in your system for as long as 45 days, and if you smoke marijuana at a constant pace, it can stay in the body for 90 days"

Taken from http://www.marijuanapassion.com/How-Long-Does-Marijuana-Stay-In-Your-System.html

A little bit now and then never really hurt. But if it becoems frequent, it can screw up your life.

Not as bad as cigarettes at least. When you smoke marijuana, it is just the marijuana plant. Cigarettes is a couple hundred or thousand chemicals. Every now and then can't hurt that much.

i have a friend who is now 39. she got high as a kid and still does.
2 or 3 years ago she got really sick and got pnumeonia. after that, her dr saw that she has early signs of emphazemia(spelling?) and now she has to use an asthma inhaler when she has these attacks. there is alot of scarring in her lungs due to the heavy amount of pot smoking in her lifetime. she told everyone she stopped smoking the stuff. come to find out, she has been secretly doing it up to this day. what kind of message is she sending to her children?

sure habbits are hard to break, but come on, there comes a time to put down things that are illegal.

If pot caused any ailment, then there would be an excess of people with that ailment in Jamaica and Belize, where there are the highest percentage of pot smokers. But those people are fine. They're not getting disproportional rates of cancer, respiratory ailments, or schizophrenia. Recent research about marijuana said that it has no link to cancer:

im sure if you are prone to get respiratory things in the first place, that smoking anything isnt going to help your condition.
however i have heard that people use pot all the time for coping with the pain of cancer, so the high could mask the fact that you are developing cancer until you find out one day at a check out.

i wonder if there are people that are allergic to pot.( silly i know ) sure its natural, but so many people are allergic to hay and grass and pollen and cedar trees and they are natural too.

For some people, smoking pot will give them anxiety attacks and make them freak out, similar to a bad trip on acid.

Curiously, despite every state charging people for dui regarding pot, there was one British study that said it actually makes people slightly safer drivers than when they are sober. Stoned drivers tend to drive much more slowly and be more worried about their driving.

Unfortunately, it gets a bit balanced out by slower reactions, inevitable hallucinations and all that.

A very interesting reference you bought up though. Something for the mind to have a good chew over.

A friend of mine is allergic to hemp, so I'd think there would be people allergic to pot

Not enough empirical evidence to draw a conclusion, I'm afraid.

Indeed.

Nevertheless, i'm more than..err..happy, to provide myself as a test subject for the studies of Marijuana effects. For the sake of research of course ;)

It's still not good for you so why take the risk? Plus it's expensive as hell!

i smoke every day, have been for 2 yrs. i have a 3.75 gpa in college am very fit and have never been in a car accident while high. pot will affect people differently, if you smoke it it wont magically get you high 2 days later but you might feel a little different. one thing it probably will do if one isnt responsible with it is make you less interested in other activities and you can get psychologically addicted, withdrawl just makes you wanna smoke, no physical pain( withdrawl minor, ends a few days later). i personally know many intelligent responsible people whom smoke it. for good unbiased info on drugs go to EROWID.COM ps not exp if home grown

my daughter is allergic to christmas trees.
well anyhow her dad gets high and she comes home sick and needing to either go to the er or have a breathing treatment.
i asked her dr if they could test to see if she were allergic to it so i could prove to her father yet another freggin reason he shouldnt be doing it anywhere near her or the place they live. the dr says there is no such test.
perhaps they cant test for something like that since they dont keep a stash there.
needless to say, i dont want her near it for tons of other reasons but i think she is allergic too.

Well basically what they do in allergy tests is take a tiny bit of the substance and put it on a needle and poke you with it. If your skin bumps up, its an allergic reaction.

What you could try is rubbing a little bit on her arm and see if it gets itchy or anything. However first you'd have to be possession of the substance which, from the sounds of it, doesn't seem very feasible.

If my (future) son/daughter had a reaction to it, and (I'm assuming this is a split custody thing) their mother smoked it and wouldn't stop to protect them from it I would call the police. I have nothing against smoking weed, but when it causes physical pain to others (especially your own blood) its time to stop.

i did and child protective services however they do not have enough to go on to do anything. my kids are sent into their bedrooms while he and his new wife smoke it with whoever and my kids never see it just smell it. she says "daddy was smoking the cigerrettes that smell like christmas trees."

I bet he smokes cigarettes, too, right? Pot smokers typically shut the windows and doors to not leak out their illegal smells, but then they usually light up a cigarette, too. Your daughter might be suffering from second-hand tobacco smoke much more than the pot smoke. If pot were bad for people, it would have killed someone by now, but afaik that has never happened.
