I was at the store the other day and by mistake picked up some "atkins approved" low carb bagels. ****! i can get more flavor out of chewing on a sponge. It looks and tastes like it was constantly being dehydrated for few months. This is not food.

since supermarkers are now flooded with this junk, i now carefully inspect every package to make sure atkins logo isnt on it.but seriously how can anyone in their right mind eat this crap?

I hate fad diets... This is the worst one to date. I'm not gonna eat the stuff, and I'm sick of hearing about it every time I turn around.

Carbs are good, without them you're a lazy fat ass.:p

Before bashing a low-carb diet, try educating yourself about them, or actually try one before you spout the myth that you need carbs for energy.

And if one chooses to do low-carb, stick to non-processed foods.

Heres the easiest diet ever:

BURN MORE FAT THAN THE AMOUNTH OF FAT YOU EAT!

OMG!!Someone should give me an award or something. How come some idiots spend thousands upon thousands for stuff they dont need while all they would have to do is eat a bit less and do some daily chores or physical activities.

The key work in that, is burn more than you eat. Americans can't handle that concept. Hunger pain is to much for most the lazy asses to handle. I did just your idea. I watched what i ate and lost 20 lbs. What a concept.

The problem with atkins is your injesting an insane amount of fat, your body will burn your muscles faster than your fat, so you'll be losing good weight. So unless your working out and excersising on atkins (ya right, if they did that, they wouldn't be on atkins). So your muscles atrophy and you become weak.

It's really more a matter of burning more caleries than you eat, not fat. You can get fat from eating too many carb caleries too, which is what many americans do. Really what people should do is watch the amount of carbs they eat at and after dinner. Any carbs before then, you burn off through normal activity. Trans and saturated fat, and total caleries should be watched at all times.

I'm also suspicious of aspertame in diet soda. I have nothing to back up this claim, but I have a feeling that it hinders weight loss. Too many fat people drink that stuff and only get fatter...

That's because they eat enough to make up for it.

A universe...where heartbreak and sadness have bee
The Atkins diet is a diet tailored to the average lazy American who sits on the couch all day watching TV and playing video games. They aren't ACTIVE enough to require carbohydrates, so you cut them out of the diet and BAM, less calories in than out, so they lose weight.

It also works well when used for a month or two at a time...I lost like 25 pounds on it and I wasn't even that overweight.

All you hear about now, though, is people who have cut the carbs from their diet only to end up f'ed because they pigged out on bacon and sh!t until their cardiovascular system just gave up. I think the original designers of Atkins and South Beach didn't plan on people eating common high-fat, high-cholesterol, low-carb foods...rather they expected them to go onto diets of lean meat, fish, and lentils. But we all know that NO ONE except health-nuts can stand that sh!t. :p

Plus, if you're athletic at all, your body NEEDS carbs. Sitting around all day your body is more than content to go into ketosis and burn off fat reserves for energy, but when you become athletically active, your muscles require sugar to operate, which can be straight sugar or complex starches which break down into sugars. If you dont' have that, you're limiting yourself.

Even when I was on Atkins, it was a bastardized version of Atkins. I still ate fruits and vegetables AND drank a hell of a lot of fruit juice and got my simple sugars from there for energy. The key behind the Atkins diet is that we eat WAY too many carbs as-is and don't even realize it. Cookies, cakes, snacks...ALL of those are just calories we don't need and don't want. Cut those ALONE out and do some exercise and you stand to lose bodyfat.

I also never drink soda or beer. That's just personal preference. But it's worked out pretty well for me. :)

This is just my opinion... is based in nothing else but personal experience.

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THOSE KIND OF DIETS. Quit eating McDonald's and put you fat ass to exercice!!!

Fruits, vegetables, bread, meat is good. EVEN BACON IS GOOD... except when you eat it 5 times a week. Educate yourself and eat healthy. And if you are one of those persons that gain weight easily... well too bad... suck it up and try harder!!! Just like math-challenged people have to try harder with algebra.

C ya.

Again, some of you need to educate yourself on things like the Glycemic Index, Insulin resistance etc...before pontificating on a subject you know so little about.

Otherwise, you're just making yourselves look ignorant.

Yeah they had that diet before and nobody liked it? Why cause it doesn't work perfectly... Atkins doesn't either. I myself prefer a mixed version of Atkins[lowered carb] and zone[regulating what you eat and groups them into three types and blocks]... i also follow the eat when your hungary diet... mainly because... when your hungary your body is telling you to eat ... but then I only eat WHAT I NEED. keeping Blood sugar at a good level is a helpful thing though... you guys look really ignorant just hating something you don't know.

i think your overcritical on the Atkins. I hate fads as well. But Atkins does work along with other diets that work. i don't care what people do, as long as I don't have to see fat ass kids all day. It pisses me off to see these kids being overindulged. I guess it's better for us and will lower our population. I just feel sorry for them. They are the same age as me and no one realizes whats happening?

Do your maths: If you ingest a quantity x of energy and use more than this amouth you lose weight. The only reason it isnt "perfect" is because americans are lazy.

And you are an idiot btw. But I guess you already knew that didnt you?

wait think about that... even if americans are "lazy" and they followed this to the tee, then they would be losing weight? "lazy" wouldn't affect the outcome. As long as you burn more then you eat. Well huh? I've heard people do this, and I've done it myself. Counting calories, and oh ****... didn't lose weight? huh... meaning the **** didn't work...

DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU AND MAKES YOU HAPPY!
Sounds like a good solution... I by the way enjoy low carb foods. Raw meat and Raw fish are also good. Maybe not the best for the heart but oh well.

CKD and UD 2.0 are supposedly good. They're cyclical low-carb. And the UD 2.0 comes with a workout routine. I'm just starting the UD2.0. The workouts are brutal!
