I'm back in Brazil after a while living abroad. Since I sold my car before I left, I'm figuring out the logistics without one now.

When I did have a car, it was easy: pick up the girl, go to a bar, then either the motel (or my place), and then drop her off at her place.

I'm not the biggest Uber fan when it comes to dating, but looks like I'll have to go that route for a while. Any tips on how to handle things without a car?

How important is having a car in your part of Brazil?

In the United States, most places are centered around cars. There are some exceptions. For men who live in New York City, it's possible to have a strong dating life without a car, especially in Manhattan. In Dallas, it would still be possible but a lot more difficult. Additionally, in Dallas, most women would expect for men to own a car.

I'm in a similar situation.

My last car died about 10 years ago, and I never replaced it. I had no need to, as I lived a 10 minute walk from work, 5 minute walk from the Supermarket, and about a 7 minute walk from numerous bars in town.

Now, my workplace has been relocated a 10 minute drive from home. I just get an Uber.

Darwin is pretty much a small city, so I can get away without a car. The only reason I'd see if you'd need one, if you like doing outdoors stuff, camping, fishing, etc. which is hugely popular here, but it just isn't my scene.

The only downside, is I've chatted to a few women, and we were talking about an ideal first date, and a common theme seemed to be that they like being picked up.

You need a car, a house, or at least a bedroom for yourself.

If you have a place, you can Uber them from and to your house. Alternatively, they can use their vehicle to get to your house and back as well. When I had a car but lived with my parents I would take them to a park overnight, even when everything was covered in snow. I would sleep with them in my car or at the park.

However, you can get away if they have their own place where you can go to but not sure how long it will last.

One of the pros of having a car is that you pick them up and they can feel your “vibe” with the music you play, your smell, the way you drive, the place you take them, the car you have, etc.

The city I'm in now is car-centered. So I’m considering Uber or renting a car for ONS—for girls I've seen before and think might be up for it again. But even thinking about what @Doctor Doom said... renting a car and getting flaked on, which can happen, is just financial suicide.

Your focus should be on getting things together and getting a car not on women.
Get a vehicle
The reason I’m not getting a car right now is that I’ll probably be moving again soon or traveling a lot for work.

I’m a bit of a nomad right now, so I don’t have my own place in my hometown at the moment. As I mentioned in my previous answer, I haven’t taken the next step because of work uncertainties—I might need to move again. If not, I’ll find a place. Until then, I can rent an Airbnb or a room for a night, but it would have to be a sure thing. Just like with a car, if it doesn’t work out, it’d be a waste of money.
