Weather has been horrible these couple of weeks and as a result I fell terribly ill. Missed week 2 of working out so I'm pretty pissed off.

So for the past couple of days I felt a natural inclination to talk to people. Made some small talk with a vendor selling some food (used the weather as an opener), talked to a HB7 aquaintance I rarely talked to. Overall it was fun and I felt more natural in approaching people rather than hesitating and doing nothing about it. 3 second rule helps!

Had a workshop today, met some new people and it was enjoyable. Flirted slightly with a HB6 and from the looks of it she might be interested in me. But then again, I'm skeptical that she might be a sunshine girl. Talking to people is becoming easier day by day and I see everything as an opportunity to improve myself. Though it must be noted I still had moments of awkward silence with the group of people I just met, have to work on lightening up awkward situations ans be more spontaneous.

Goals for tomorrow:
Get to know the people in the workshop better.
Make a effort to be spontaneous, failure is just a learning experience.
Going fencing tomorrow so time to approach people again.

More approaching approaching approaching! Got to talk to many new faces and I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable to remain silent! (at the same time annoyed when people are plain anti social). Met a HB8.5 during fencing and turned out to be senior. Engaged in some fluff talk but was unable to flirt with her, I tell you she is one of the most beautiful people I've seen andnmore so she was of mixed blood (i dig that).

That was yesterday so today while I was waiting for my meal order to come, I made some casual talk with the lady boss there, asking about business etc. Then I was speaking chinese so I wasn't really fluent in the way I portrayed myself but wtheck, it was an enjoyable talk.

After that, went to a salon to get an awesome haircut (and did) made some casual talk with the hairstylist as well got some laughs dissing each other heh. He told me I'm the first guy to tell him exactly what I wanted and how picky I was and how he actually liked that. Major confidence booster imo, plus this is getting easier and easier by the day. I feel its almost a part of me right now and its amazing how some people open up with an effort on my part. Life is getting awesome day by day.

No leg curls and no leg extensions, man. Do Single Leg Romanian Deadlifts and Box Squats or something. High sets, low reps, heavy weights. You only do COMPOUND exercises if you're that thin.

WARNING: PERSONAL GROWTH JOURNAL, NOT MEETING CHICKS JOURNAL
It's been a long time since I've updated this journal. As of now I'm going through a emotional patch for god knows what reason. Lost my mojo, been a social retard recently but I am determined to get out of this situation. Been working out, I noticed an increase in strength but I seem to be hovering around the 102 - 104lbs area for the past 2 weeks. School's been screwing wih my eating routines so thats probably why I am not getting enough calories. By the way does anyone have a ebook copy of Starting Strength? Been hearing lots of positive comments about it here.

Slowly recovering my mojo, made some fluff talk with a middle age guy that was taking the lift with me. Funny how I can talk to older people so easily and still have problems with people my age.

Grades wise, I've been doing well so no problems about that, 7 more months to my final exams. Keep pushing!

As I'm writing this, I realise I haven't been making much progress lately, partly due that I don't get out very often (benefits of lack of friends haha). So I'll make it a point to get out more often whenever I am free over the weekends to meet new people. I'm considering taking up some activities to broaden my social circle.

PS: Does anyone know a mod around here? Need this moved to the HS section.

This is very good advice. Konada..please go to stronglifts.com and download the guy's free e-book. You NEED to start doing that workout, the gains (in strength and size) for someone with your body type will be amazing.

I weighed 140lbs (6'1). About 2.5 months ago I started working out, and switched 3 weeks ago to that stronglifts program. In 2.5 months I've gone up to 175lbs...and plan to reach 190 by the end of June. The strength (and weight) gains since switching to the stronglifts program have been INSANE.

Check it out bud.

Okay thanks for the advice I'll be sure to check it out. However, I think I still have problems gaining weight. My calorie intake is very very inconsistent due to my haphazard curriculum in school. Any idea how to meet my calorie intake of 3000 per day? I've been taking weight gain shakes but they don't seem to be doing anything and they taste like crap

You really need to put a conscious effort into eating A LOT of food. Try to eat 6 meals per day if you can...they don't have to be HUGE, but you should try to keep yourself feeling "full" throughout the day. Protien shakes are good...take one in the morning, and 1 directly after your workout - within at least 30-40 minutes (your body will use 80% of the protien if you take it in this time window, after that it drops drastically). Take 1 day to rest in between your workouts, as your muscles need time to rebuild themselves. Sleep is also very important for gaining muscle, this is when your body builds the most muscle, so make sure you're getting at least the 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

Weight gain shakes can help (especially if you don't have time to eat 6 meals per day), so I would suggest you continue taking them. I consider myself a 'hard-gainer', but the last couple months of really focusing on gaining weight I have seen rapid results. Just weighed myself, I'm almost up to 180lbs now...and NO I'm not getting fat...I'm starting to look pretty ripped.

Good luck man, that site is pure gold, especially for your body type. I think you'll be thoroughly impressed with the results if you stick with the program, and put an honest effort into eating more.

Also, be sure not to eat CRAP. Eating fast-food, sugars, etc. are not good for you. Eat healthy. You will look like what you eat. Therefore if you eat McDonald's, then you're going to look like the **** they serve you. If you eat salads, chicken, rice, beans, etc. then you're going to look healthy. Also, don't overeat and don't undereat. Start at about 3500 calories per day and be sure that 40-60% of your calories are from carbohydrates. And most important, get at least 7+ hours of sleep per night, lots of water and take multivitamins.

Forgot to mention, be sure to get at least 150g of protein per day and don't start missing workouts. And remember, 90% of bodybuilding is nutrition and only 10% is at the gym. Most people fail to realize this one simple fact. You can workout all day and night (which would be counterproductive) but get no results without proper nutrition and rest.

Stayed home the entire day today to study for my lab assessment tomorrow (part of the finals) and get my work sorted out for tomorrow.

As of now, I am planning to start on Stronglifts 5x5 this week. Will post up stats again when I have the time. I did my research and found that many reccomended SS as to SL due to people unable to cope with the immense volume of SL. I'll give it a try for a week and see how it turns out. If thr complaints prove true for me I'll switch to SS instead.

Will post up stats when I'm free, coupled with next week's happenings soon.

This weeks happenings:
I got trashed at fencing on Thursday pretty badly so I was feeling bummed over that. Nevertheless, I reflected on what I was doing wrong and prepare for next week's session again. It really helps to build my emotional and mental strength and I'm amazed at the vast improvement I have made in the course of a year in this sport. It was all guys there, tried to talk to them (was youngest in the whole room) but they seemed more interested in staying with their group. Wtheck fvck these people lol. Ugly antisocial girl (4/10) so didn't bother to talk to her after she blew me off the week before.

Right now, I don't feel inclined to talk to girls at all. Before I met this site I had anxiety to talk to girls but now, even when presented the opportunity, I don't talk to them much as they do not anything common with me. (They don't humor me lol so it's boring to talk to them but then again I will come off as boring to them.) Overall, I feel people are starting to enjoy being around me so that's a great thing, and I've been enjoying myself ever since I started this journal!

Okay on to serious stuff. I tried out Stronglifts 5x5 this week and I have to say it was INTENSE. Everything was going fine until the 3rd workout where I failed in benchpress and squats. (weight was the same for whole week). I guess my body cannot take the immense volume for now so I'm switching to Starting Strength instead. Will start on the program on Monday. On the brightside, I gained 1lbs this week. Holidays are starting so I'm lookig forward to serious mass gains during the break.

Thats all for now, will keep this journal updated!

My metabolism rate is super high and I'm an ectomorph. Once I ate macs about a week and I didn't grow fat but still looked the same. (no skinny fat guy syndrome) The consensus here I'm getting is that for an ectomorph should eating anything even if it means crap like KFC to gain weight. Do you have any take on that? As of now, I'm still eating healthty, haven't ate any fast food in about 3 weeks

My holiday break is arriving very soon so its a great time for me to pack on some muscle. Today I started on the SS program, went to search up a new gym with my friend for better equipment. He was constantly whining how intimidating the buff gym guys are but everyone has to start from somewhere eh? For all you skinny guys out there, leave your ego at the door, there is no place for it in the gym.

Studies wise, I've been improving and striving to get straight A's in the following month, have alot of work to do.

Haven't had talked to anyone new, frankly speaking I was intimidated by the guys at the gym so I wussed out on talking to them. Getting girls are the least priority on my list right now, have more important stuff to focus on. I met a HB7 whom I knew while on the bus today but my friend c0ckblocked me so I didn't have the chance to speak to her. I'm getting IOIs from her (subtle but she is shy and its my gut feeling) but I don't wanna go for her. She was my best friend's ex (they broke up 6 months ago) and just recently talked to him and he still had feelings for her. Bros before hoes, major bummer.

Without further ado, here are my stats though they are quite pathetic.

Inclined Benchpress 3x5 Weighted bar
Squats 3x5 22lbs
Deadlift 1x5 44lbs

Still have no idea why my squats potential is so much more than my bench potential. Feel free to provide any kind of advice on how I can improve. Also anyone has personal experience on how you're supposed to feel after SS? I felt energetic after that with no sores or barely any sweat even though I'm pretty sure I ripped every muscle I could in that workout. Is this normal?

Awesome day today, worked out, headed out with friends, had an awesome time. Day by day, I'm feeling better around people and no longer the pne who sits and listens to everyone. Confidence is key I must say. Went to watch 'X-men: First Class', its a good show depictint origins of X-men if you're into that kind of thing. My break is finally here and its time for some serious mass gains!

Here are my stats for today (I will only be posting the weights I put on to the bar, not counting the bar weight)

Standing Military Press 3x5 35lbs (standard barbell, no weighted bar)
Squats 3x5 30 lbs
Bent Barbell rows 3x5 44lbs

I am still trying to find the weight which I am comfortable doing 5 reps with. Currently I feel I can load more but the program states to follow a gradual increase in weight of 5-10lbs per workout.

Thats all for now, keeping this updated!

A minor concern, whenever I am approaching my last 2 reps of squats I feel like a pulse of eletricity shooting through my left thigh, more like sharp pins and needles feeling momentarilty. Idk what it is, maybe I strained it too much? Need some advice on this if anyone has any experience with such things before.

Gym was closed. No choice but to go home. However, I still did some work with whatever I have at my own gym.

My stats:
Bench Press 3x5 22lbs (max weight there)
Deadlift 3x5 54 lbs

Skipped squats due to a possible strain in my left thigh. Will rest for a couple of days then continue with the proper workouts

Been really busy for the week so I'll give a crash course on the days events

6 June 2011

I went to workout and shortly after that went for the party my good buddy invited me for. I got there early and talked to some of the guests there. General fluff talk if you may say. God damn I can't believe the party didn't have good looking chicks as well so I just made small talk, nothing much. Qfter about an hour or so I bailed cos I was started to feel drained. On my way out, I saw this HB7 who seemed like she just arrived and didn't know anyone. Tried to run some game on her but didn't turn out too well, I got shot down almost immediately.

Me: Hey nice shoes! Where did you get them from?
HB7: I have a boyfriend, stop hitting on me (annoyed look)
Me: Woah, you just seemed like a nice person to talk to. Why so serious?? (smile)
HB7: Whatever. Do you know where to find xxx (my friend)?
Me: Wow tough crowd. (walk away)
HB7: Hey! You didn't answer my question!
Me: (At this point I was already done with the b1tch) (Look at her, walled away laughing)

Anyway here are my stats
Standing Military Press 3x5 44lbs
Squats 3x5 75lbs
Bent barbell rows 3x5 54lbs

8 June 2011 (My birthday!)

Well yeah, my special day. Had to recharge my batteries by spending some time alone, albeit it was a boring one but satisfied me nonetheless. The only thing I did today was gym.

Here are the stats for today:
Squats 3x5 85lbs
Incline bench press 3x5 50lbs (some alpha douche was hogging the bench)
Deadlift 1x5 65lbs

I am an ectomorph myself. I didn't eat crap food to bulk up. I ate complex carbs (rice, pasta, whole wheat bread, etc), lean meat, protein powder, beans, and healthy fats to bulk up. Don't eat crap food. I didn't eat too much either, just a little bit over what I needed and bulked from 140 to 170 lbs in about 3-4 months (it's been a while) and my abs were still clearly visible. I'm a shade over 5'9.

I also focused on compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, power clean and press, and the bench press). Lift with good form (to avoid injury) and try to stay in the 3-6 rep range per set. No more than 4 sets or else you'll be over training. Try to eat, lift, and sleep consistently and you'll be fine.

Post a few pics. Would be interesting to see what kind of progress you make. You really weigh 104 pounds? How old are you? How tall?

I bet you have all kinds of room for growth here with the proper training and eating habits. Just no reason for you to weigh that little, and I don't care how high your metabolism is.
