Yeh I usually don't go to wide with the sumo. I think my feet are around the rings.

I have decided not to bother having set days of the week that I do certain things, because then if I miss a day it throws off the whole schedule and getting it back on track is a pain in the ass. I'm just going to do the workouts in order regardless of what days they fall on, and if I miss a day I'll just do what I was supposed to do that workout on the next day.

Squat:

5 x 5 x 315 lbs

I was amazed how easy this was. I think taking a little deload worked for a change. I also think anything over 3 plates a side is a little intimidating for me psychologically so this workout is a good motivator.

Also good news, I actually felt it in my hamstrings today! lol. They have been extremely sore since last Friday's sumo deadlifts and were still a little sore today. My theory is that they are so much stronger than my quads (I deadlift 100 lbs+ more than I squat) that my quads have to work a lot harder, so I don't really feel them working unless they're already fatigued.

Good morning:

5 x 135 lbs
5 x 185 lbs

First time doing good mornings with a regular barbell. I go deep with these, my back is parallel to the floor at the bottom.

Floor press:

5 x 135 lbs
5 x 155 lbs
5 x 175 lbs
3 x 185 lbs
8 x 180 lbs

This was strange, I only got 3 reps with 185 but when I lowered the weight to 180 lbs I managed to squeeze out 8 reps, even though I was only going for 5. I did rest a long time between the sets though because I was talking to the guy that works at the gym.

Chin ups:

3 x 10 x bodyweight

I haven’t done chin ups in a really long time so I was pleasantly surprised here.

Dips:

3 x 10 x bodyweight

My arms felt like they were going to explode after this.

^ that workout was actually done on the 12th, it's not letting me edit for some reason.

You should try weighted chins/pulls... with the strength base you have in your deads/squats, I think you'll make progress very fast!

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

Yeah I'm going to start doing those... haven't done them in a long time.

Hard with left arm, very easy with right arm.

DE squat:

8 x 2 x 200 lbs

Deadlift:

5 x 355 lbs
3 x 400 lbs
3 x 445 lbs

I was shooting for 4 reps, but the last rep of this was the hardest I’ve ever done. I started shaking really hard once I got past the knees but managed to finish it. There’s no way I would have gotten another rep.

I think it’s time to start doing rack pulls from just below the knee. I’ve noticed that when I go above 430 lbs I have a hard time finishing the top part of the pull, once the bar gets around knee level. Also should probably deload and restart the 5/3/1 cycle soon, this is my 8th 5/3/1 deadlift cycle in a row.

I’m typing this a few hours later and my back is still shaking.

Sumo Deadlift:

3 x 405 lbs

I wanted to do more but I was completely wiped out after the deadlifts.

Trips w/ 4 and a half plates? That's impressive to say the least! Is your bodyweight still around 180-190? I still think its weird how you find the top portion of the deadlift to be the hardest. For me its the bottom bit, just getting it off the friggin ground... Guess it shows you how different people's biomechanics are!

Anyways, keep it up man, reading your journal always pushes me to train harder!

Thanks :)

Bodyweight still around the same. It's strange, I've noticed that the more I eat, the more often I get hungry. If I don't eat breakfast I don't get hungry till around 1 pm, but if I eat breakfast at 8, I'm hungry again around 10:30. And if I eat something right before I go to bed, I'm hungry when I get up so I want to eat breakfast.

Usually with deadlifts if I can get it off the floor I can grind it out and finish the lift, even if my form sucks. I think for assistance work, I'm going to start rotating between halting deadlifts and rack pulls from different heights.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Squat:

5 x 5 x 320 lbs

Blew threw this, felt easy. Very happy with this squat session :) I think deloading and working my way back up in weight really helped.

Floor press:

5 x 135 lbs
5 x 155 lbs
3 x 185 lbs
0 x 225 lbs
5 x 185 lbs

Failed with 225 lbs. I wasn't doing this in a rack, I was at my school's gym so I had to put the bar on 2 of those aerobic step things, get under it, push it up and then slide on my back far enough away from the steps to do it. Didn't really work out.

Chin up:

10 x bodyweight

They don’t have a real pull up bar, just the kind that is built into those stupid cable machines, and there was a line of like 10 guys doing curls. I got tired of waiting and just left after this.

Squat:

2 x 5 x 260 lbs

Power clean:

3 x 3 x 225 lbs
1 x 225 lbs

I failed the first rep of the last set and felt like I was going to pass out. I tried it again, got it this time but again felt like I was going to pass out so decided to call it a day. I've actually passed out and fallen on the floor doing power cleans before so I didn't want to risk it.

Cool :D

Watch your bar position at the top, it might be pressing into your neck and cutting of the blood flow to your head.

It could be that, I also think my blood pressure might be a little low. Last time I had it checked it was 117/44.

I have a bruise on my upper chest today from the bar slamming into it.

Wtf 117 is fine, but 44? You need to get to the doc pronto and get checked out. You might be taking it wrong, but get to the doc.

Last time I got it checked was a year ago. I got stung by something and had an allergic reaction and had to go to the doctor, the nurse took it but didn't say anything about it being abnormal so I didn't think anything of it.

I've had that problem with power cleans on and off since I started doing them, you're probably right about hitting the wrong place with the bar. I also used to get that occasionally with deadlifts when I first started training though so who knows.

Low BP is common after something traumatic. When I crushed my finger a couple years ago I had very low BP too. Same with postworkout, your blood pressure drops significantly right after intense training.

Got mine taken by the doc on Monday @ 120/60 :D

DE bench press:

2 x 3 x 135 lbs (wide grip)
3 x 3 x 135 lbs (normal grip)
3 x 3 x 135 lbs (close grip)

Close grip bench press:

5 x 155 lbs
5 x 175 lbs
5 x 185 lbs

Seated 80 degree overhead press:

4 x 135 lbs (going for 5)
3 x 135 lbs
2 x 135 lbs
2 x 135 lbs (going for 5)
1 x 135 lbs (going for 3)

****ing aggravating. My left arm is holding me back still, I’m pushing the bar up unevenly because it’s so weak compared to my right. This is becoming a serious ****ing problem.

This happens to me too. Probably has something to do with the metabolism spike after you eat.

I do shakes in the morning as soon as I wake up and usually within a couple hours I'm hungry. Same thing happens like you said when you eat before bed. I wake up hungry too.
