I bought the same Stuff Mage. I have the Whey Protein mix.
What all do you guys want/need to know? I understand it's not all about protein, I mean I have read a lot of into this.. I just kind of want a refresh to memory. I know diet has lot to do with it. How many carbs/fats a day do you think I should be getting along with my protein? My goal isnt really to lose any weight in the process.. because I am a skinny dude. I would rather just put on some muscle mass as quick as possible. My "goal" or what to "acheive" is to get bigger. I want to see more mass on my muscles and I want to see them more defined. And what did you mean by "rest". I don't work out the same groups of muscles twice in a row.. I let them rest. I know all about rest.. the body needs it for the muscles to grow..
First off, it will depend on each person. I cant give you an exact number for what you will need caloric wise per day to grow. That is something you'll have to tweak, and try out and see what works for you. You'll have to find the right amount of calories to grow, and go from there. I can say eat 3,000cal but you may need 4,000cal, or I can say eat 4,000 and you may need 3,000cal. Experiment is what you'll need to do.
Be careful of the "I want to get mass quick" deal. You'll only grow so quick without the use of a controlled substance.
If you signed up for weights class I assume it will be your first time lifting, or really getting into it.
My advice is to see what works for YOU. Let me point something out, and make this clear. Depending on where you go to school, some people who teach weight classes are total MORONS. I am saying this from experience. We had a guy teach a class like that in our fitness center on campus, and he did so many things wrong, we cringed. He was a Biology student, he taught wrong (or should I say he didnt even teach) and people were only HURTING themselves and getting know where. We tried to get the guy canned, but he's almost done anyway, so we dont mess with it. TOTALLY not qualified in any sense to be teaching, but that's how it is, and if I had my way i'd strangle the professor that keeps hiring him.
So first off, if your teacher in school, whether it be high school or college doesn't know their head from their butt, stick around and you'll get some good exercise advice here.
This is the same problem with coaches. Just cause someone is a coach at a school for football or any sport doesn't mean they know how to lift or know the extent of things people do who are certified as well as have degrees.
I've heard coaches tell people in a high school that carb loading is eating a bowl of pasta before a game
Not even close. But since they are coaches, they seem to think they have it all figured out. Some are good, some just totally suck. At the same time too, some schools cant afford to hire people who specialize in exercise, and sports, or athletic trainers. There are only a few high schools around that pay the bucks to get REAL strength coaches and the like.
Lastly, just cause you class mates are doing something, doesn't mean its always right. Dont believe everything you hear, or see when you take that class. If you have a doubt, make a post, and ask. You'll get responses from people who either have degrees in this field, or who have trained many, many years. Not some new kid in the gym who picked up FLEX and thinks he is going to do Ronnie Colemans workout.
This also applies to anything you hear about supplements in the gym from your buddies. ASK, and i'd be glad to help you weed out the truth from the garbage. I have been in this area for many years, and i'll tell you what to believe and not believe.
My goal is to make more people aware of what they dont know, so they can actually be smarter than the other guy in the gym.
I use to moderate one of the most (still is) well known bodybuilding sites around, but its grown so huge now, I dont care to really do my thing there anymore.
Sometimes its TOO technical which can be ok at times, but it gets tiring, and I like to help out at a place that isn't so much dedicated as those sites as in a hardcore sense. Its a little more relaxing.
Having talks and chats with Patrick Arnold of ErgoPharm, and Par Deus of Avant Labs and all those people are nice, but your head gets moving 10x faster than it ever could on this site.
Talking with the most respected people in the supplement business is great, but gets intense.
