Looking Good
by Timothy Tietjen
1) Start eating a nutritious and balanced diet. One that's rich in vegetables, whole-grains, nuts , and lean meats. Eat about 40% protein, 40% complex carbohydrates, and 20% healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats such as those found in nuts like almonds and walnuts. Drink ample amounts of water, around a gallon a day, and ONLY WATER.
2) Begin a strength-training and aerobics excercise program, and possibly a flexability training program such as yoga. Get that ass to the gym. Aerobics training will kill your acne problem when coupled with the proper diet. When you sweat, your body cleanses oxidants and toxins from your body through your skin. Take a hot shower after working out and clean your face with the products I will list below, and you're face WILL clear up.
3) Wash your face with Neutrogena Deep Clean or the generic equivalent twice a day and use a benzoyl-peroxide topical ointment or pad immediately afterward. Use a clay mask 2 or 3 times a week after washing your face. The key to having clear skin is to maintain a proper Ph balance. Too much or too harsh a product will make your skin WORSE. Always use a sun-blocking facial moisturizer such as Cetaphil
4) Wash your body with Cetaphil anti-bacterial cleansing bars. This is the mildest soap on the market and it won't clog pores.
5)Supplements! Start taking a multivitamin everyday, along with Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids. Try and find a supplement that combines all three acids. Anti-oxidants are EXTREMELY important. Take Ginko and start brewing green tea.
For weight lifting, take a whey protein shake once or twice a day and one immediately after working out. Any whey protein will work, but I prefer the Pro Blend 55 because it doesn't fully absorb into your system until 2 or 3 hours later; Most wheys are absorbed immediately. Start cycling a Creatine Monohydrate supplement to give you a serious edge in the gym that can only be experienced to believe.
6) Use a good shampoo and conditioner. For short hair, only use shampoo every two or three days. Make an appointment to get your hair done by an expensive, experienced stylist to find the right style for you. After he works his magic, take a picture of your hair and have someone that doesn't cost as much do the same thing.
7) Start dressing nice. You want something that's classy, clean-cut, and masculine. Some affordable names that I like to shop at are Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Polo, and Guess. Gap should definately be the backbone of your casual wardrobe because they are comfortable, cheap, and classic. Buy 2 or 3 pairs of good-fitting Low-Rise Boot Cut and Relaxed Boot Cut jeans in different washes. Get a pair of the worn caramel Khakis and a pair of classic Khakis. Start buying t-shirts and polo shirts that are fitted for YOUR frame in comfortable cotton in different styles and colors. Make sure the shoulders match your frame! Buy some button-down collared shirts in different patterns and colors. (Vertical-striped shirts give the illusion that you look taller than you are). Buy a cool, almost casual-looking blazer to throw over your shirts for special occasions.
8) Shoes. The first thing a girl will look at critically are your shoes. Buy a nice pair of brown leather sneakers or loafers. I have a few pairs of Sketchers that were really affordable ($50) and look GREAT. Perfect for casual, semi-formal looks with jeans, khakis, cargos, anything (except shorts). Buy a pair of nice white-based sneakers like K-Swiss, Reebok, or Nike. Nothing crazy and nothing too performance-sport looking.
9) Formal wear. You gotta have a nice, fitted black suit, some dress-shirts with collar stays, silk ties, and sleek black dress shoes. My favorite ties are the Jerry Garcia collection. Awesome ties!
10) Now you just gotta smell nice. For casual days, I prefer not to wear cologne and just a good deodorant like Old Spice Pure Sport. It almost smells like a real sporty cologne and girls seem to love the scent. Axe body sprays and antiperspirant are also delicious.
As far as cologne goes, you should find a nice scent that fits you. You want something that's not too old-school, subtle, and masculine. For casual dinner dates, I LOVE classic Stetson. I have about 3 bottles from the 40's and 50's that smell AWESOME, and if you go to a smoky club or bar with this stuff on, the tobacco smell with the Stetson, ****, it's unbelievably tasty and masculine.
The Safe List:
1) Acqua di Parma
2) Armani Black Code
3) Essenza di Zegna
4) Bond No. 9 Central Park
5) Burberry Brit
6) Obsession Night
7) Aramis Life: My Summer
8) Stetson
This list gives you a lot of variety and the scents are well-accepted standards. Find one you love. Go Light when you put on any cologne; You just want her to notice the scent when she's really close.
