As far as your reply, I'm not sure which state you are referring to. In CA, CDC funds the construction of prisons out of state funds. But small assed towns in the middle of nowhere benefit since jobs are created and sustained as a result of prison construction. Good for the town, bad for the state. And stop AMOGing me. Wait, you're a girl.

All that government money comes from taxes...which people pay. If you had even the slightest inkling of how much it costs to build and maintain a prison it would blow your mind. The cost doesn't stop once the prison is built. Most prisons house hundreds of inmates who need to be fed 3 meals a day. I only buy cheap foods to feed my family...with two teenage boys. It costs over $500 a month to feed a family of 5 (one of which is only 7 and doesn't eat much). Prison staff gets paid good wages, and they have to hire a medical staff, counselors, administrators, etc. They need to provide soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant etc for several hundred people every day. They need to provide medications for inmates, many of which who suffer from mental health issues. They need to maintain the buildings and grounds, heat or cool many buildings, etc. You honestly have no clue how expensive prisons are.
