Not to boast on forum, but I bought my bike ninja500 yesterday and this is the first thing that is pretty expensive I bought with my own two hands. First major purchase by working my ass off every single weekend, no parties, etc.

Now you know from my last post "I still don't get it", you all know I was in serious condition. Oh, the sensation and feeling of pride I felt when I looked at my bike and involuntary smile lighted in my face.

I almost (well not really) had tears in my eyes because this was the biggest thing I had ever achieved in my lifetime that I have done with my own two hands, no help from anybody. Plus I have been working for this as my dream for 1yr and half, so I, genuinely, felt so proud of myself and liked myself.

Right now, women... haha, I don't care. I love my motorcycle, and I love myself for being a man of my own word to do something pretty big like this (in my own level: I'm still in college, doing part-time job).

And lastly, thank you all for helping me out in times of pain. You are all my brothers.

congrats on your purchase. Now be safe.
What he said.

I can tell by the fact you picked yourself up a 500cc to start out that you're taking riding seriously and want to learn...you're not one of these hooligans who buys the hot sh!t right off the bat and proceeds to wrap it around a guardrail while wheelie-ing past some chick. ;)

Here's some reading for you:

http://www.amazon.com/Total-Control...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1286755749&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Sport-Riding-Techniques-Develop-Confidence/dp/1893618072/ref=pd_sim_b_3

I learned a lot from both of these books as far as street-riding.

There's nothing else like riding a motorcycle, especially a sportbike...it demands 100% of your attention be "in the now", so your mind is clear of all other distractions. It's like instant zen.

Be safe and enjoy yourself.

If I'm thinking right you're from the bay area? If so let's ride together one of these days. I set the same goal just last month. It's getting cold. My aim is when I get my tax return I'll have my dream bike. I would say by April right on my birthday.

I was thinking about getting the 250s but I skateboard, ride a bike and drive a manual subaru like crazy and I just feel like starting on something a little faster though I know everyone will hate me for it.

I'm not saying I'll ride it like crazy. I'm just saying. I love boxing, basketball, everything and my learning curve is really good.

But yeah, I cannot wait. I can just tell how you feel right now. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Lol guys, I dropped my bike last night while turning; wasn't going slow enough, but only body is bit messed up, motor still runs fine. I learn to slow down before cornering... sh!t hahaha..

Anyways, I live in east Texas, doing college. I love my bike so much that I understand how my dad felt when he saw me the first time coming out of my mom. My bike is so precious, it bypasses all women.

i'm saving for a ninja500 as well. My younger brother, the reckless in the family is making fun of my for getting a 500 calling it a granny bike. He keeps telling me to get something alot faster.

I'll probably stick with the ninja500 since the 250 is too small for me. I hope to get it around thanksgiving christmas time :).

Dude that sucks.

BTW did you buy it new?

I would love to buy a bike, but I can't imagine spending more than 2K on my first one.

@Maxtro: Naw, I didn't buy new one, I don't want to be one of those guys... It's 2002. It was $1300, cheap cheap for pretty nice bike like that, although body is kinda beat up, still looks ok.

@AAAgent: Trust me, 500 is pretty damn fast. I was hitting 40mph and this thing felt like it was going like 80. It feels way different than cars.

I don't want to make fun of people that buy brand new bike for the first time, but that's pretty stupid b/c there is more than 90% chance you would drop it or low slide the fvck out of yourself within next 4 weeks, b/c now I see bike is ALL ABOUT BREAKING AND CORNERING (at least the hard part is). I really had to slow down when I was cornering that sharp turn but what the hell, i learned for cheap consequences...

I love it when girls just smile at me just b/c I have a motorcycle... them shallow bytches hahaha

Whew, what a relief.

I was scared that you bought a $5,000 brand new bike for your first bike and dropped it.

But I can see that you know what you're doing, enjoy it!

haha good point and info.

I was definitely thinking of getting a used 500 but a decent condition one for like 2.5k but i might as well just buy a good one even if its dropped once or twice since i will be dropping it as well.

Damn 1300 definitely is nice. How long did it take u to get your license?

@alien: yup, first bike ever, and already riding it to small distances like class

@aaagent: lol, i don't have license that's why Im not taking it to major roads. but definitely take Motorcycle Safety Course ($150-200) and that will reduce insurance a lot and easy to get license too. I'm taking that course in november.

@SikWitit: dude, I fvcking LOVE my bike. It's the ONLY THING I care about besides school, work and self-development. I give rat's a$$ about women and I can definitely feel that attitude from myself. Pfff, motorcycle is so much more fun hahaha. I'm spending one of happiest moments of my life; When I first came here about 2 yrs I think, all I had in my mind was getting laid, and actually I am still virgin. I was so frustrated multiple times, be okay for awhile, then be depressed again (kind of like Malaria's fever). Now, I'm just a really happy and excited guy who thanks the Lord and parents for giving me life. Now I understand "Do what makes you happy".

It happens. Don't sweat it.

Do you know what "countersteering" is? If not, you'd better watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C848R9xWrjc&feature=player_embedded

Most people don't understand how a two-wheeled vehicle steers.
