what does my age have to do with anything pertaining to this thread? if you must know I'm 30. I've read the DJ bible but what I'm pointing out is it's flaws in a particular area. funny is not the be all end all of dating, true. however, if you can make a girl laugh WITH you, not AT you, you can get her to do just about anything. that's from experience too. the problem with humor is it doesn't help you build a relationship with a girl. it only gets your foot in the door for a short time and you have to make the most of that time.

like i've said before, this isn't the only example I have. it's just one I chose to share. your theory of a smaller pool in a small town is somewhat true but not always the case.

The DJ bible is a good starting point, but it's kids' stuff compared to the true underlying dynamics, although it does a much better job of hinting at it than the "game" self-declared PUAs propagate.

I'll say it again: her laughing at your jokes and saying/thinking/BELIEVING you are "funny" or "humorous" is only an expression of something much deeper, namely her (supposed) attraction of you.

The right question to ask is "This girl is into me, what does she want?" The answer depends on her age and, in general, should not be of much relevance unless you are truly looking for a companion. Rollo and the guy at Château Heartiste do a pretty good job at pointing out what women are looking for in life, that is, to tie down a provider. I'll be the first one to admit that, as each rule has its exceptions, there are undoubtedly some women out there who are smart enough and prone to introspection enough to truly do their best of making a relationship work towards the "better for both of them" end, but it's never a good idea to wait for one of those, because there's no guarantee you'll ever meet one.

So. You're right in that humor is not something to build a relationship, because she certainly isn't staying with you for your ability to make her laugh. When the next millionaire playboy alpha/beta comes around the corner, he could be reading stale jokes off a cheat sheet in front of her, for all she cares, he'd be the funniest man on earth.

The trouble with "humor is not something to build a relationship on" is something you haven't identified yet, namely, that the mindset that men should be pulling the relationship. It places the focus on you, i.e. "ok, you're funny, but what else can you do?".

Really, if a girl laughs at my jokes, it's all good, and of course it tingles my primal brain parts and feels like crack to my ego, but I try, at all times, to keep in mind that I'm just seeing an expression of something deeper. And I try to see what this girl can do for me, whether she is a valuable addition to MY life.

Of course looks matter. But fortunately, men can compensate lack of aesthetics with money and an alpha personality. A womans brain is programmed to feel attraction to guys with good genes (tall, good face, good body), but having money = survivability for them and their offspring along with status.

My two story-3 bedroom-3.5 bath house is paid for, I drive a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 (not the flashiest car on the road), I bought a 700 acres of land back in 2004 so I wouldn't have any neighbors and I like to hunt, I don't know what it's like to own a credit card but I get about 20 approvals in the mail every week, I've already saved up for my retirement at 30, I don't like to wear flashy clothes but I don't dress like a bum either. I'm not claiming to be the richest guy on this site, but I know that I am VERY financially secure and I'm smart enough not to waste what I have on ANY broad I meet and I'm smart enough not to let her know what I have. It doesn't bother me that she is with that guy. In all honesty if she became single tomorrow and said "hey Robert28 you wanna go out sometime?" I would turn her down because I already know she lowered herself to dating beneath her and I'm not about to go dipping behind some guy I know I'm better than.

How do you know that you are better than him? You're just going by what you see in a picture!1 You don't know anything about this guy. That's a terrible attitude to have!! It does bother you because you wouldn't date her because she was with that guy!! You made this thread...and you still are going on about it!!

You say that because of the picture you saw. When you are meeting women, how do you know who they were with before (or maybe still with) or (might be fvcking randomly besides you) when you're talking to or dating them? You don't know!! They could be like the chick you refuse to date because she was with a guy who you deem beneath you!! Again...you don't know!! So why do you care so much? It shouldn't matter!!

Women and hypergamy. Well written about in other posts. And if you say the guy is not near his female other half in looks etc??? Look at the wallet he may have, or if its a small town, he may be the 'best' prospect of a bad bunch. (Has good business sense etc).

Remember how crucial security is to a female.

Money and status aside: not a lot of "hot" people are LTR material, and most people seem to be missing this point. Many of them - guys AND girls - tend to be shallow, annoying, douchey, hard-headed, spoiled, entitled, fleeting, indecisive, mean, selfish, stuck up, immature, unfaithful, irresponsible... the list goes on and on. Most of them are simply exciting for short-term affairs.

I'd wager that many "hot" people once got with their own ilk - then realized that it wasn't worth it in the long-run... That the chase was better than the catch, the only thing you liked about them was their hotness, they caused more problems than they worth, their personalities and attitude were ****, they only cared about themselves, had the same mentality and maturity as a child, too much maintenance and game-playing, no long-term dependability.

As well, when you're young, all you care about is superficiality, excitement, looks, having the new shiney to show off, being accepted, etc. All of that changes as you get older. And really, you can't keep up with that **** anymore.

And yes, I speak from personal experience. :moon: But also, from witnessing and inquiring about others who seem to be going well below what they can get. Most of them don't trust or particularly like "hot" people, and say this guy or girl is kinder, more selfless, faithful, etc. In many instances, they're also more easy to control, manipulate, cheat on, come back to... oh yes... they're not all innocent, either, and don't usually change their ways. They were equally responsible and ****ty as people... and still are. They just found someone to tolerate it for longer. But, 9 / 10 - they DO have experience with "hot" people , and is usually why they ***** about them so much / lower their standards. :kick:
