The two things that come to mind OP are porn and video games.

when I first started watching porn, the kind of porn that I liked back then would be extremely vanilla and boring now. Perhaps the sex you're having is too average/normal for you now and you need a higher standard.

Whenever I play video games I always try to beat it on the hardest difficulty that I can handle because it's a game and I'm playing for fun. On the flip side, I don't want my job to be as hard as possible because I need to work to pay my bills. Once spinning plates because more like a game than a job you'll be want to turn up the difficulty and enjoy the challenge.
