People...Post count is NOT a stauts symbol, it just shows you how many times you've hit "post." Rating people with ONLY *insert post count here* is a bad idea.

Pimpoligist had only around 100+ posts, but gave GREAT advice. Capi Crimini had 750+ posts but...Well, got banned.

There IS an easier way.

What about making Craig Reeves "Newbie questions answered here" (or whatever it's called) a sticky in all forums, or letting someone post a "faq" regarding all newbie questions.

Been said before and been done before. Hell, Nich Hill made a FAQ in the Bible!

early today some 1 told me, and i think it was disconnect, people can not be bothered to read much genral information so they ask specific information, i think hes write and it sums it all up reall doesnt it. yet little do they know the genral information will hlep them more then haivng there questions answered.

People have said how about not letting newbies post for the first week, it semes like its either that or haivng to put up with there questions, but then again they may just wait a week not using the site and then comeback to post there question.

You could try and tell them to read the bible first, somewhere on the scren when they register as many newbies probably post before they even notice the bible is there

That is why the Bible's in the Discussion and HS forum are stickied, so people see them.

Yeah, thats all very good, but if no-one knows where the bible is. (People don't read they post), how about having a banner on the "new thread" screen, that says "please use the search button which can be located "here", or read the bible which can be located "here" before asking any questions" or something along those lines.

It can't really be an assumption if he used the word MAY can it?. Now i don't see why you're getting all defensive when we make these suggestions crazy, you don't seem to be offering much yourself.

If you run a search in this forum (hell, even this post) I've offered advice. I'm getting defensive because the same stuff is being said over and over and the same people who post like that complain about people not using the search button.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Alright, can I just say at the top of the screen theres a few lines, you might not even read it yourself as you're talking about having a link to the DJ bible on new thread windows etc, BUT, it says at the top right of the screen:

New Here? We suggest checking out THE DJ BIBLE before posting.

It's everywhere you go, it's just people dont seem to have self motivation anymore

Well if all this stuff is being suggested, why is nothing being done? Doesn't matter to me, i just don't read newbie posts.

If nothing has been done, it means it either:

- Is improbable to be done

- It has been tried before and failed

- There isn't a way to do it yet

Not to disagree, but I'm sure that the post-count can be removed... (Whether that was in this thread or suggested in another, I'm not sure... however, I'll pretend it was in here...)

Check out this site: http://www.serpentineroad.com/forum/index.php

Note that they have user ranks, but the number of posts they have doesnt' show...

That is a PHPBB site, not a VBUlliten site. Things are different on each one.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I do like what the Admin said... it hits the nail on the head:

I've had to do this at a few boards before myself. I wish people would realize that a large post count does not make them any more vaulable to the community than someone with few posts.

*edit: In general terms... people bumping their posts up through mindless drivel and spam.

This way, post count doesn't matter one bit, but you instead give someone reputation based on if their tip is good or not. It would be even better if your reputation, rather than your post count, determines the "Don Juan/Senior Don Juan/Master Don Juan" user titles rank (with real low reps going into AFC/WBAFC) [/B]
How come no matter where I look nowadays I see slashdot karma everywhere?

I hate to say it, but a lot of (if not most of) the stuff on this website is BS. You would get new people rating other new people well because they don't know what they're talking about, they just go with what sounds good. Also, people would be regurgitating old stuff even more so they would get a better "reputation." Let that stuff develop by itself.

Fire melts ice, and only after ice is melted can the fire die.

Meaning, if you sort through enough of the BS, you'll find the truth through experience...

OR.

The is NO omni-answer. People find thier own answers through trial.

The problem is the answer
