I could see it now. The people in this special forumn think that they are better than the people not on the special forumn.

I saw what happened in the mature man's forumn with the "Main DJ Boards have gone south" post. Everyone just got a swelled head and b!tched about it. Now I am not making fun or b!tching myself just telling you guys how it will problably turn out

On the idea of hand-picking Master Don Juans...

Master's Only forum request #3,576...

I was once in favor of mods hand picking posters for a closed Master's Only forum, but now I believe that's a bad idea. Hand-picking "Master Don Juans" is elitist, useless, counter-productive and distracting. The purpose of this forum is for guys to improve their status in REAL LIFE, not their status on some obscure internet message board.

Exhibit A: This very thread. Look at how high and mighty some of you are acting. This sense of aristocracy may be an unforeseen byproduct of bringing back the "mature" forum that I didn't think would occur, but apparrently it has occurred. Imagine of this was a "Master's Only" forum?

You guys ever heard this phrase?

One man's junk is another man's treasure

Well, it also applies to the advice given on this site. I've seen some of you guys give really bad advice on one thread and then come right back and give excellent advice on another. This of course is JUST MY OPINION. Believe it or not, but we all have different opinions.

The newbie's are the ones that need to decide what advice is good and what is bad. Not us. How are they going to know what advice to start with when there's conflicting suggestions? Well newbies, you're just going to have to go out in the field and try them out. ;)

The problem with having a rookie forum would be that it would be newbies getting answers from newbies. I can't imagine how this could be beneficial to the forums- it would just divide us more and the newbies wouldn't be getting good advise.

If there was a newbie forum, make it like the one on my site.

Newbie forum - Everyone can see it, post, and reply.

Sophmore forum - Only sophmores and up can see it, post, and reply.

Advanced - Only advanced and up can see it, post, and reply.

Senior - Only seniors can see it, post, and reply. They are the highest people.

I'm still trying to track down the script/coding I mentioned before.

here's my last post on the subject

Why not just put a post cap for guys not yet senior/Master?

Ie.

Max of 10-15 posts/day can only start 1 topic/day, and reply after that.

Limit that to Discussion, then after they get to senior/master let 'em post in the Tips section.

No Cap on Anything Else.

Only thing I see happening is AE getting loaded up with Junk as people try to get their post counts up.

Infact I knew someone that had a script like this up and running for the same kind of board, but I gotta track him down (been quite a while since I talked with him last).

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

I remember there used to be this thing called the dj bible that people would be sent to if they had a question. Is that still around? Maybe if some mediocre posts currently in the bible were
cycled out we could put some new really good ones in people would know who to listen to.
Another thought, maybe a second dj bible: New Testament.
After that fills up a dj bible: the Quran
after that: The teachings of Confucious,
it could go on and on . . .

newbie boards are not cool . as others said, the number of posts doesn't have any colleration to the truth, wisdom and Djness of the poster.

and mods, JUST TELL US : can you implement the rating system or not ?

since couple of guys are wondering how the rating works, in "modern" forums, every poster can rate all other posters (just once). cheating, like having double IP, double acounts or double pseudo with many emails, well nothing is perfect and i'm sure crazykid will always be there to delete false accounts.

With the boards I have, post count means squat. I even removed it. It is based on how well you post. Someone can come to the site and post 1,000 pieces of trash. They aren't moving. Someone can post 3 or 4 GREAT posts and will be moved up.

There might be a way for that. Only Allen could do it, because mods don't have access to the servers.

By the way, there are more mods than me. :D

Crazykid:

I liked your idea of having forums where you could class people. However what I disagree with is where you say 'Only sophmores can see, post and create topics in it' You've gotta let the newbs see the gold aswell man, just maybe not post and spam it out :)

Apart from that, I think thats a fairly good idea. Having the post count taken out would also be a great idea. Maybe people wont spam so much useless **** than they do at the moment.

I do like the class idea. One of the reasons that I joined up there in the first place. I do think that newbies should not be allowed to see sophmore levels and up. It gives them something to work for:). and actually go out and do stuff.

There is more than tips

everything you post on is looked at including your journal (for which you must have as a requirement), FR's, and such.

At least that is how I think that the program works and then the mods get together and look at your posts and decide if you are ready for the next level.

There are 254 pages of members (and counting).. Sure they might not all be active but.. how are the mods gonna judge everyone personally? You want them to quit their daytime job?

No. Good members stick out in people's mind, which makes thing easier.

Well that would go for the current system as well then, wouldn't it?

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

An incentive to spam. I'm all against getting rid of the post counts.

Someone might be new, and be the best guy to ever grace this board. Or someone could have 438749832 posts and still rant ****. It's not directly linked.

its not directly linked but there is a genral trend, what i have noticed is that there are a lot of people with under 100 posts that actuly know exactly what there talking about because they read around a lot but just dnt post much!

Isn't this all acedemic anyway? I doubt anything will come of this, Newbies will always come and ask the questions, like you did and like i did.

There is no problem with newbies asking for advice. The problem is: who are they taking advice from? Maybe we should all stick together more often and call BS when we see it.

I mean, I try and give advice if I can, and I might not always be right. So correct me if I am wrong. I can handle it. :) If there really is a problem with advice given, we should all explain why that advice is no good or something.?
