You probably won't have more than 10 -15 min with him so;
Sounds about right.

1. Pick the most salient points of the problem that your solution can solve. Nothing more than 2-3 due to time constraints
OK

Inquisitus said:
2. present the problems first. Ideally, you want to "start a fire" that your ideas will put out.
I don't have to "start a fire" It's already raging. It's a real sticking point that the company has been trying to resolve.

Inquisitus said:
3. Present as much RELEVANT statistics as you can to the 2- 3 points you picked.
Well, it's not really relevant since it's just a simple change in proceedure. I'm actually surprised no one thought of it!

4. Keep it simple. You can expand later if needed in a report. This would effectively be the exec. summary of a report.
Ok, at this point I'll just be offering the fact that there is a possiable solution and I'll be pitching the fact that I will give them my idea for XXX in return.

5. You may want to consider bringing in your direct supervisor. Have you validated your ideas with your peers?
Oh hell no

6. Why would the CFO be the one to talk to about a Stocking problem? Wouldn't that be more of a COO issue?
The CFO would be more interested in saving the company money and probably more interested and in a better position to pay for it. He would recognize the savings to the company's bottom line. He is in a great position to pitch and implement the idea.

Yeah, running by your peers and especially the supervisor would be a horrible idea. Do you have anyone you can bounce ideas off of that you're sure would not interfere?

Thanks Duffdog for the sage advice. What or How much should I ask for?
That depends on what you want. What do you want? If it was me, I would tell the CEO that a new position needs to be created specifically for me. I would then be in charge of administering the new policy that I created. Then, ask for a salary and benefits that you would actually be happy with. Corporations are highly unlikely to just write you a check for something-- or worse, they will claim that the savings never occurred (even if they did) and give you nothing while pocketing the money themselves. Just remember, it is the job of a CEO to figure out how to maximize profits for shareholders at the expense of everyone else. If you can figure out how to be the guy doing your idea, you are on the right track.

If they refuse and won't deal at all...DON'T just give up and tell them the plan. Take it to their competitor and start the dealing again.

Good luck!

Good luck with presenting the idea. Share with us how things go

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

If I could tell you an easy and effective way to present your idea effectively that would not only get you all the credit, but also gobs of money, how much would that be worth to you?

If I could tell you how to grab and harness their undivided attention to present your idea forcefully and compellingly, what would you give me in reutrn?
