If you guys want to know the origins of Christianity, just watch this, especially the first third of it starting about 5 minutes in. Christianity is just a made up religion (like all religions) that has almost its entire premise based on ASTROLOGY, and more specifically the sun. Get it? The sun? The SON-Jesus?

Wait, no, dude, you're talking craziness. Did the word "son" exist back when Christianity was founded? Did the word "sun"? Of course not; I have no idea why you would see any relationship.

But yeah, the migration of stories from Horus to Appollo to Jesus, and the migration of other Middle East legends to Noah and Moses? Very compelling.

Umm...I have no idea what you are laughing about. Watch the first 45 minutes of that link I posted there, starting about 5 minutes in-it makes the connection pretty clearly.

I mean there are so many connections of Christianity and astrology its not even close to being a debate imo. The three wisemen (kings) visiting Jesus which are really the three constellations lined up perfectly with the rising sun (dont remember there names) on what day? Thats right..Dec 25. The sun reaching its lowest point in the sky and then rising from then on on what day? Thats right dec 25. When was jesus widely accepted as born? Thats right Dec 25. I could go on and on.

Just watch the movie you're going to feel like a fool in about one hour. I love people that laugh at others and have no idea what they are talking about.

Pure ignorance.

As for as the word son existing when Christianity was created, ah yeah? Since the beginnings of Christiantiy the whole premise was that God's son died for our sins and someday rise again to save us all.

And btw that movie gets really good like I said about 7-8 minutes in. The first few minutes are no visuals with a man talking. It gets great from there trust me.

I'm watching it now. I see no connection made between the word "son" and the word "sun" in this movie. A relationship between Jesus and sun-gods, yes, but nothing between those words. I think you made a mistake there. There can't be a relationship. The Latin word for son was not "son".

The learning part starts about 12-14 minutes in. Right after Carlin speaks. Watch.

I'm watching it now again, and its so funny to me. There are literally thousands of "gods" that were "created" way before Jesus and that have the exact same story as Jesus. Horus, Mithra, etc. etc etc I mean exact. Born on Dec 25, born of a virgin, 12 disciples, known as the light the truth etc. and was crucifed/died/ and rose again. Gimme a break.

The sun died on a cross, stayed for three days, and then rose again. That is what the SUN does on the constellation the Southern Cross when it goes to its lowest point on Dec 22, doesnt move up or down for 3 days, and then on Dec 25 starts moving higher in the sky again.

Does that story sound familiar to another 'son' we know?

I . . . didn't see any of that in this movie.

Ooops!!!

*** 4/25/08 - THERE SEEM TO BE PROBLEMS WITH GOOGLE VIDEO PLAYBACK.
IF THE FILM STARTS AT A RANDOM SPOT, PLEASE REFRESH THE PAGE. ***
[ The timecode on the far right should read 2:02:15 ]
Okay, I'm missing the first half hour. That might explain it.

But seriously, the WORD son and the WORD sun were not known to St. Paul, Justin Martyr, or any of the founding fathers of the Church. They are German words.

Yes, Jesus was descended from older sun gods, I see that point, but the WORDS have no relationship in Roman, Greek, or Hebrew languages. The founders of Christianity did not speak German. If the first half hour of this film insists that these 2nd century Roman scholars or leaders somehow knew German or modern English, just because it happens to make a convenient pun, then I couldn't take them seriously.

They really are the same.

Your questions were answered in the last thread.

People join lesser cults like the polygamist sect or the Branch Davidians for the same reason they join the mega cults like Christianity and Islam and that is to get the answers to the questions of life as well to get some assurance they will live on after they die. They also join all of these cults for emotional support and to fit in when perhaps regular society rejects them. Also some people feel the need to have a cause or purpose in life and all cults large or small provide this.

Still, it didn't mention any relationship between the WORDS son and sun.

It's a pretty good, concise film, and I basically agree with it. But there are some parts that are rushed and sloppy. It says that the sign of Virgo is M, and this inspired spiritual mothers like Buddha's mother Maya to start with an "M". But did the symbol "M" have anything to do with the M sound in ancient Sanskrit? I'm not so sure.

More likely, the Indo-European root "mater" is the reason for prototypical mothers having a name starting with the m- sound.

Have you read "A Cartoon History of the Universe"?

They also borrowed extensively from all kinds of other religions, even pagans-or people that believed in animal gods water gods, all kinds of gods. Religion is a way that the powers that be use to control the masses, always has been that way, always will be.

It's all BS. Anyway, watch this then tell me Jesus was a God of some sort lol. I mean, does that even make any sense to you in todays modern world? "yeah, there was some guy who walked on water and who healed people and saved people and in a few years he's just going to magically "appear" and save all the believers and the rest of us will go to hell and burn". Ok. Makes sense to me lol.

I love how people will believe any paranoid wacko conspiracy theory just because it is on them Internets.

Does the whole movie consist of condescending nutjobs talking over new-agey background music and psychedelic computer graphics? I couldn't stand more than a few minutes of that crap.

I couldn't handle more than a few seconds of what was possibly the world's most boring movie. But it tells some people what they want to hear, so they see it as true. Isn't this what you see yourself as being above?

Most people on the Internet think they're too smart to believe in religion, yet they will buy any aluminum-foil-hat conspiracy bvllsh!t that derides religion, because anything anti-religion must be true. The cult of Internet know-it-alls is just as naive and delusional as they see Christians.

I'm assuming you didnt watch any of the movie from about ten minutes on? If you want to stick your head in the sand be my guest. If you think it's just a "coincidence" that the exact story of Jesus has been told about 100's of different gods hundreds and thousands of years before Jesus even existed, but hey all of those were fake but Jesus is real, then that is your right.

Maybe it's my right to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster god, I mean there is as much proof as him existing as there is some guy that walked on water.

But hey, keep drinking the koolaid. Btw, how many millions of people have died in the name of religion..especially Christianity?

All that I would like you to be able to see is that your little movie is pulling your strings like a puppeteer. They start out with the 'Jesus is a lie' spiel so that you will identify with the movie's makers. A lot of people really want to believe than they are smarter than religion. It's an easy lie to sell. Then when they have your confidence (that's the "con" in "con man" btw), you'll believe any ridiculous conspiracy theory like 9/11, illuminati, aliens, anything.

The movie's entire premise is a contradiction. They want to use one conspiracy theory - Jesus was a fairy tale and never lived - so that they can sell you ten more looney tune conspiracy theories, all based on the idea that you are too smart to believe in a conspiracy like religion. Whoever made that movie is probably laughing right now at all the people who actually believe that crap. I imagine professional wrestlers think the people who think they are for real are pretty funny, too.

The movie's main premise is that things are not always what they seem, and to be specific it talked about the Federal Reserve, or the Fed. They have controlled and manipulated US history since 1900. If you dont believe that, look how they just tried to outright STEAL Bear Sterns 2 months ago from its shareholders for $2/share. Same as they did back in the depression when they stole US banks. At least the shareholders revolted this time and got it up to $10/share, but that is still stealing plain and simple.

The Fed controls almost everything we do nowadays, you can believe it or not.
