No, and that is ridiculous per serving. If you think you're going to get that many calories down in one setting, think again.

You could MAKE something like that at home (read my post on the other gainer thread) a few times, put it in a jug and drink 8oz per meal or something.

Truth be told, if you are trying to get ALL your calories from a drink, your doing it all bass akwards.

4,000 calories? Hopefully that's a typo. Anyway I like to blend a few eggs, milk, whey protein powder, peanut butter and a couple of ice cubes together. Makes a decent shake, just be careful not to make it too watery or it will be gross. You also don't want to drink this immediately post workout because the fats in the eggs, peanut butter and milk will slow the protein digestion.

I've pushed close to that for gaining reasons. At half that, that is barely maintenance for me. Again, FOR ME. Each person will vary in what they need, but I need lots of calories.

Most people toss a number out there and assume it is what they need. I posted once about what you need, but i'll let people figure out what it is.

But even if I did 3,600cal, I would have 6 meals at about 600cal or 7 meals at less. No way in HECK i'd drink a shake that big.

Many many years ago before I knew better I tried the gainer fuel 2225 or what ever it was from Twin Labs, and it was 4 scoops, but 1C scoops. Drank it all in 30-1hr and I couldn't move and felt like I had liquid setting at the top of my neck I was so full.

We learn from our mistakes.

So let me comprehend this... You WANT to consume 4,000cal in the morning, but NOT throughout the whole day? As in you want to do 4,000cal for breakfast then not eat the rest the day?

There's a diet particularly meant for a recomp/cut where you fast for 18 hours then eat ALL of a whole day's calories in 6 hours after you workout. There's a thread going on about it now at ironaddicts.com. Some people have started trying it and eat anything from 2-3 meals in those 6 hours.

It has something to do with your parasympathetic nervous system and how it works... and apparently there isn't any more catabolism than any other below maintenance diet... and you're not hungry during the fast.

I heard about that 'diet' also but it's geared more towards 'actual food' and not just liquid gunk. All that shiet will just sit in your gut and soak,it goes through a totaly different digestion process because it's semi-digested already,it may work ,it may not but personaly I'd much rather eat real food on that type of diet.Unless you come up with smaller sized shakes centered around a large meal or two.Trust me, I drank 1k cal milk shakes before and it was just gnarly..not cool at all :nervous: With 4k cals in one sitting, especially with liquids- your body will absorb what it can, store glycogen absorbthe nutrients it can and just crap out the rest..you'll just get fat basicly or have alot of hefty turds. Not the most scientific of explanations but you get the idea.

It would be better to have 2 large 2k meals in that time frame then a fat ol shake. The digestion of those two large meals is enough to keep you full and with enough cals/nutrients til your next meal.

The Warrior Diet. Appearently is slows down metabolism & raises energy levels. It also "frees" you from having to eat every 3 hours.

I'm going to experiment with it next fall.

That's similar, but this one is somewhat different. I forget the differences.

I don't think it slows metabolism and the warrior diet is geared towards one meal while this one is 2 or 3. Ah, they're calling it "intermittent fasting."

I never meant to imply to drink shakes, though I guess you assumed because of what the thread was originally about. The only time i drink liquid protein is before bed in caseine and during/after lifting... or a big cup of raw eggs.

Could you send me a link mrRuckus? I'm interested in knowing more about that diet.

In my experience, I've found a good whey protein isolate and branched-chain carb powder mix very helpful for bulking and maintaining weight when not actively training. Currently use Twinlab 100% Whey Protein Fuel, as it is very well tolerated (I'm very lactose intolerant).
