You had the chance to get those guts in the beginning, but you choose platonic friendship over casual sex. While you were out drinking with her you should have told her exactly what you wanted instead of being the nice guy. Why do you want to marry a women that cheats on her husband?
I am assuming he is as old as 45 and as young as 28. My assumption is based on the fact that the woman is 10-years his junior (and based on how she acts). Not knowing the age...the issue here is that this dude was unemployed for 5 years. Being unemployed for five years during your adulhood life is not a laughing matter.
And NOW that he finally has a job, he is risking it with this crap. I know of several cases in which a man has been fired, after the spouse of the woman that man was pursuing complained to their boss. This dude gets fired, he might not find another job for another 5 years!

Don't bother. Even if you some wild, passionate affair...they never leave the marriage. Do you really want to go through years of that kind of crap? No, you don't. Find a quality woman who wouldn't cheat. Remember, if they cheat with you, they'll cheat on you.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
