Update. I read that book. I continued smoking while I read it. And then I finished my pack and quit. So far its been 4 days of pure hell. Headaches, post nasal drip, fogginess and lightheadedness, coughing. But I think turned a corner this morning. I actually went out to a bar last night and had a drink without having a cig. I figured I went though all of that hell, I'm not starting over again.

Exactly! Stick with that attitude and you'll never have a cig again.

I haven't smoked cigs for well over a year.

I switched to the Janty ego. (e-cig)

It's a great substitute without the toxic chemicals.

I have 4 cigs left in the pack. I want to quit. What did you do to successfully quit smoking?

I know my triggers. Drinking is at the top of the list. Followed by boredom and habit and stress.

Any advice?

My method is to smoke all you want. The catch is that you must purchase only the most disgusting nicotine product you can find. For me it was menthol mini-cigars. omfg are they disgusting. But I never made it all the way through the pack.

Day 8. A full week since my last cig. I can't lie. I've been falling into a horrible black depression for the last few days. I don't even want to smoke. But some of my other health issues have been bothering me. Life just seems pretty gray right now. I keep reminding myself of the things that are good, but it's not helping. Meh.

nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known. i found the step down method minimized the withdrawal symptoms and urge attacks. the patches were useless for me and made me have wildly vivid dreams in color.

the gum helped me quit. buy the big box of 4mg ones from walmart or and for the first 2 weeks you must have a half a piece (or full one if you can handle it) in your mouth at all times of the day, switching it up every couple hours.

It seems like every insecurity and anxiety I ever had has come back in the last few days. Full blown panic attack yesterday afternoon. I haven't had one of those in years. Today I felt fine, but I could feel the lingering low level anxiety. My depression for the most part has lifted. I've also been fvcking angry as hell for no reason. As usual I cover my anger with sarcasm around my friends. Some **** went wrong at work and I almost punched a wall. I hung out with some smokers today and didn't have the urge to ask for a cig. Hell I was so busy at work I didn't have time for much today. It was just one of those days. And the pressure and deadlines could be where the panic attack came from. I dunno. 11 days tomorrow. My game is shot right now. I dont even want to talk to any females I know for fear of this anxiety leaking out all over the place. Or getting angry and saying something stupid.

I smoked for 5 years.

Then I just stopped, the first week is hell, it gets a lot easier after that.

Stopping smoking is just a time game, it's all about time and how long you can last, the good thing is, you get to a point where it becomes very hard to keep from smoking, but this is a wall you have to smash through and once through it, it becomes a hell of alot easier.

So if your struggling, just remember you've hit a wall, and past it, it gets alot easier.

I now smoke once in a blue moon, I can take it or leave it, for example I can smoke a 10 pack and not want another again - I sometimes have a fag with a pint, a social smoker - But I did quit 100% for about 5 years, the first week is hard, but it gets easier, until after about 3 weeks its not even an issue.

Smoking is a hunger supressent, in a way your body is craving nicotine but it's also craving food - when I fancied a smoke, I used to eat an apple - It helps.

I guess you can call me a social smoker too now. Whenever I'm drinking, the cravings get bad. I smoke anywhere from 1 to 10 on the weekends now. But afterward (Sunday-Thursday), I rarely have even one, though I get a craving here & there.

Whats weird is they're still kind of sickening, especially sober. If I'm wasted they're great, but if I'm sober its hard to get past one without being grossed out.

13 days! Hung out with my friends tonight, everyone was smoking but me. I won't lie. After three drinks I was sorely tempted to have "Just one" but I knew that just one would lead to more than one. So I called it a night and came home.

25 Days!

The cravings are getting less and less. I feel a whole lot better. My energy level has gone up and I've got my sense of smell and taste back. My sinus problems are starting to fade as well.

If you fvckers :-D can do it, I might give it a try as well. :-D
I just need no "No smoking" ads...when I see them I have the urge to lit up...just as a protest, I guess.

My grandfather stopped smoking when he was 70 years old - smoking all his life. He told me that anytime he had an urge to lit up he just ate a strong mint sweets. I can't do that, I still have my own teeth :)

But it is so hard now...I can by smokes tax free...it is like 1€ for a pack of twenty.

I have to rev up first....
pros: bad breath, ****s(probably), short of breath, time consuming
cons: no socializing with fellow smokers at work, no "award" for work well done, constipation(probably), what will I do when there is nothing to do?

btw congrats Warrior....hold on
