I think most agree here that men lead, or should do so. The sexual revolution was first led by men. We declined to maintain the moral order for sexual freedom. And free love seemed great.... until mainstream feminism came along.
But it's been women who have broken the families. Women initiate 70% of divorces, but end only 50% of relationships. Most men would stay with the mother of their children but the mother wants another guy, usually a hotter guy physically, proving they sold their kids out for c0ck.
Yes, and note that tens of thousands of men died in those wars? That was the old form of feminism - kill all the young men. Funny how the same forces that own the media started the wars...
Speaking very, very generally here:
I would say that the situation of a mother with a "dutiful" husband/father (i.e., he acts the way that he is supposed to, not fooling around or prone to indolence, etc.) who leaves him, either for another man directly or for a hypothetical other man, is merely practicing hypergamic polyandry. She has spawn from husband #1 but feels that she could have done and still could do better going forward; this is what a woman is saying when she says "I just don't FEEL in love with my husband anymore". Evolutionarily speaking, this would allow her another set of genes with which to procreate, so long as she can coax husband #2 into being a dutiful father to the spawn of husband #1 - something that society loves to try and shame men into doing (see my recent post about the 15 reasons to date a single mommy).
Isn't in interesting that all cultures have a birth story of the troubles of Man being released by a woman? Judaic (and by extension, Christian & Moslem) culture had Eve; Greek mythology has Pandora opening up her box that the gods had originally put all the ills of the world into, etc.
Nice post, agree with most of it, aside from a few minor quibbles. For one, I never got the impression that guys in the 50s and 60s were depressed. I don't see any reason to believe that they were. But I've heard a lot about women being depressed in those days. Apparently they were bored with being housewives and raising the children, and resented their lack of power and influence. You don't have to go much further back in time to get to the point where there were several generations living together, and as you said, in those days the grandparents took a more active part in watching the kids.

Disney is an obvious fantasy, and should not be what we have in mind when considering a more conservative era. I think what typifies the old world was the sense of a moral code between the sexes. There was a set of rules, by which one played the game. Or you could think of it as a dance. An order was given primacy, whereas today freedom [often abstract/ freedom from] is the [un] organizing principle.
