Just saw Arnold Schwarzenegger's (76) girlfriend is 49. To those who say, wow that is a 27-year age gap; it still doesn't violate the Half your age plus seven rule. 76/2 +7 = 45.

The older men and women get, the more the gap widens. However, this is okay due to maturity and life experience.

Arnie's age difference works and the 27-year age gap between the two is the NOT the same as a 50-year-old dating a 23-year-old (which violates the rule)

If you are an in shape 50-year-old, you shouldn't feel any shame dating a 33-year-old who is showing you IOI's.

Yes and it is not out of reach. When I was 40, I banged a solid 8 female co-worker who was 27.

I think the main reason a 40-year-old might struggle to get younger women is because he doesn't take care of himself physically. He is overweight and balding. There is nothing wrong with balding, but you have to either shave your head completely or get a hair transplant. Having hair here and there looks ridiculous and being fat is much worse.

Look around, most guys 35 and up are overweight and dress like bums.

But these ages sounds horrible to me. Are you guys attracted to 50 year old or 33+ old women? There are exceptional women to this age, but this sounds depressing as ****

The way I interpret this rule of thumb is that a guy shouldn't date a woman older than half his age plus 7. For instance, a 40yrs old guy should only be interested in 27yrs old and younger females.

Isn't part of the issue also cultural? Like a 45 year old will come from a generation completely different to a 21 year old. As a 31 year old I feel I have more in common with a 19 year old than a 43 year old.
