The shooter was Asian...rumors are saying Chinese...not a citizen, but in the US legally.

To the guy who is trying to make this about Iraq...violence there is not shocking...we all know it's dangerous there and that people die....it is a war zone.

What makes this so tragic is that these kids felt safe. They had no clue they were in danger. Trying to compare this to Iraq is like comparing Apples and Oranges...two entirely different things.

Now...the first shooting this morning occurred in a dorm where you need a resident key card to get into the building between 10pm and 10am. The first shooting was between 7am and 7:15am. Either the shooter LIVED in that dorm or someone had to let him in...either on purpose or accidentally.

The second location, the guy was supposedly "looking for his girlfriend" according to some reports. Survivors are reporting that he looked into rooms a couple of times before coming in and opening fire...as if he was looking for someone. He had at least one target in mind...probably two targets. He likely intended to kill himself and wanted to let the entire world know how angry and bitter he was about whatever motivated him to do this.

The question is...was he a crazed/obsessed stalker type, a frustrated, angry and bitter guy who felt rejected and dumped on, or was he an angry, bitter and jealous guy who felt he was justified to kill the girl and guy who he blamed for his situation. We'll learn soon enough, I'm sure. Whatever the case...everyone here should be attempting to learn something from this and do some personal soul searching to remind yourself why it's always a good idea to unpack your personal emotional baggage instead of letting it eat away at you. Anger and bitterness is NOT healthy or good for you...

You see what happens when you mess up the priorities? I.E. who is number 1?

Should you be new to the site or PUA ways, you are the number 1. Anybody else is number 2. You have a son dying of cancer, all he can be is number 2. Watch the Dog Wisperer, on animal planet, behaviour of dog pack is very interesting. Cizar is number 1, he is alpha dog, every other dog is number 2. People have problems when they fvck up the idea of looking out for number 1.

The scariest part is when people find out more about him you'll hear stuff like "He was a nice guy, a bit quiet, he studied alot'

This is really sad.

today was the saddest day of my life... even more so then 9/11

the above may sound horrible to hear, but i am a student at virginia tech, and i personally know the resident adviser who was murdered today. he was a very nice person, and i am still in shock over the tragic events of the day

luckily, i dont have any morning classes, so by the time i would have had to leave, this had already broke out so i stayed home

i have been home all day reading, re-reading, and devouring anything related to this. i can to this site today not to learn seduction, but specifically because i am desperate to learn more about todays atrocity.

you guys have given me a new angle with which to approach this. right now, everyone is trying to figure out the whys... this is one possibility, although i do not know how possible.

i hope all of you pray for the poor souls here at virginia tech that were lost today, and their desperate families....i did not have phone service for part of the day because the lines were so jammed and by the time i spoke with my father he was a nervous wreck.

i hope we can find some answers for this, but as of right now i am stuck in my apartment still, afraid to venture out for fear of my life

additionally, here is a direct quote from an AIM away message of one of my friends...

"Just so nobody worries, I'm okay.

The shooter came into the rooms next to us, and then to our room, but I had jumped out the window (2nd floor... I'm pretty sure I have broken ribs) before he got in. I haven't heard from xxxx xxxx, so if anybody hears anything let me know ASAP. I've been trying to call and he doesn't pick up.

I've been told our professor was shot and killed, and I know xxxx was shot twice the legs, once in the arm.

I'm headed to the hospital to see about Justin; might have them X-ray me if I my ribs don't feel better, and my breathing doesn't ease up.

-xxx

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and everyone affected by this horrible tragedy. I'm glad you are okay. What I've read on the news is that a German professor (Herr, I think) is rumored to not have made it. He was shot in the head first when the gunman entered that class. A Mechanical Engineering class was the other classroom that was targeted. The professor of that class was shot in the face according to what I read. Students in that class were jumping out of the window and a lot of the ones who didn't get out of the window were shot. There were only 4 students in the German class who were able to walk out after it was over, and two of those were injured.

I just heard on Fox News that they believe the gunman was a 24 year old Chinese student who was in the US on a student visa. They are looking to see if he has any links to terror groups. I did some research online and there has been some Al Qaeda movement into parts of China...so this could be terror related, but I'm not convinced of that because the targets seem specific.

I'm so sorry about the loss of the Resident Advisor and the girl. Do you know how the guy got into the building that early? Did he live in that dorm too?

This is a very horrible thing to have to go through. Take advantage of the Red Cross counselors...even if you think you don't need to. Right now most of the students touched closely by this are probably feeling numb and may be in shock. You need to talk about how you feel about it. Hang in there...and stay safe.

Truly fvcked up...can't they just kill themselves and leave the rest of the innocent world alone?

My prayers will go out to those people tonight.

They are only LOOKING to see if the 24 year old Chinese student has ties to any terror groups...it's not a verified fact. I suspect that is why they aren't releasing his identity yet...they want to be able to find out if there is a terror link first. More than one witness mentioned the shooter talking about a girlfriend, though, so it's really hard to say. It's just absolutely awful that things like this happen. I can't imagine what the families of the dead are going through right now. With so many victims it takes awhile to find out who the victims are and then finding out how to reach their families. There could be parents who still don't even know if their kids are dead or not.

I am so sorry...

There are close to 30 people injured who, I think, are in the hospital. Has the girl you're seeing checked the hospitals? I've heard that there are two hospitals people were taken to. Also...it seems that most of the kids who were shot were in a German class and a Mechanical Engineering class. Do they know if the girl was in either of those classes or in that building?

I heard Fox reporting that they know the name of the person they believe to be the gunman and that he has a facebook account with photos of him with massive amounts of guns...and that he is 23 years old, a student and Asian.
Do the students know the guy who did this?

Could you PM me the link? I won't post it just in case it's not the guy. You should not post it because there are some here who would harass...and if it's not him then that wouldn't be cool.

I just saw another report that the guy wasn't a student...and then another report that the gunman was looking for his ex girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Nevermind...I did find it...and the guy has since posted on the page saying he is not the shooter. He's just an advocate of gun rights who idiotically played along for awhile...until people started to post creepy, scary things to him. Then he said it was not him.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be online...but I'll be peeking in on here for as long as I'm awake. I have classes tomorrow and my Counseling class review for the Final is tomorrow...final is on Thursday...so I can't miss it. My first class isn't until 10:45 am, though. Don't hesitate to PM me if you need someone to talk to for a bit more privately. As long as I'm up, that is.

As tragic as all this is...you've got to try to keep going with your life as you normally do as much as possible. That will help keep you from getting in a real funk from this. Once in a funk it's really tough to get out of.

D'light...Ryan's name has been released to the press and his family has been notified. I read an article about him and he sounds like he was a genuinely great person. I'm sure he will be missed and remembered as a truly wonderful human being. Did you know he has a twin brother? I'll be praying for his family and loved ones.
