Does anyone in the community have any experience with this? We've been together almost 2 years now, and I find this diagnosis a little surprising. I always knew she was a little crazy, but to be honest, I like that in a girl...to me, normal is boring (and it usually makes them a freak in the sack  ). But manic depressive? I didn't know it was that serious. She was diagnosed a month ago, and since then shes been a real downer. We got in an argument about it earlier tonight and she just sent me this link:

I may be the worst person for her to have around to deal with as I'm not entirely convinced all of these doctors diagnose medical conditions correctly. To me, if someone is sitting around the house claiming they're too depressed to leave the house, then they're not even putting in the effort to change themselves. I know you can't just think your way out of feeling down, but sitting there and labeling yourself as depressed sure as sh!t won't help your escape that depressive thought loop. And labeling yourself too depressed to do anything....of course your depressed!! You're calling yourself too sad to do anything, stopping you from doing things that may make you happy! If you keep labeling yourself like that, you're bound to keep on buying into it and may never escape that thought process.
I realize this perspective may be completely ignorant, so I'm hoping some of you can shed some light on the matter. Please, if you have any info or experience, I'm hoping you will share. Thanks
