I live in the UK but I imagine the law is much the same. Naturally she's not going to be able to do anything in her country because she'd end up in jail and in the UK she doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I have a chat transcript on yahoo messenger where she says to me that if I do not give her £3000 for her surgery she will take me to court and they will make me pay she also mentions a rape claim and a dozen other threats. She cannot make her mind up whether I "raped" her or seduced her. Apparentely she thinks the courts will understand that because she is a muslim she would never have consented to sex ergo it must be rape.

She needs teaching a lesson. Perhaps I should get a lawyer to write her a nice letter explaining that I have a strong case against her. What sort of lawyer would I need?

Call her bluff. Tell her to call the cops right now, and see what they say. Hell, go to the police station WITH her.

If I were you, I'd seek legal advice immediately, telling your lawyer the whole story. You could potentially press charges against her, but whether you do is up to you. In my opinion, she should have more to fear than you considering you actually have a case. what does everyone think? (Cabal?)

I tried as nicely as possible to explain the legal situation. She didn't believe me and says the second she gets back to the UK she will call the police tell them i raped her and they will come round to my house. I do not want her to make a fool of herself but there is no way to get through to her.

The only other thing is that she was staying with a family friend in UK. Perhaps if i showed up there and told them what was going on they could call her family and they'd talk some sense into her. But again I don't really want to destroy her relationship with her family and probably they will blame me because they don't realise their daughter is crazy

Of course she could just be bluffing but she's so silly she could actually try to pull something and get really hurt.

Matt, you're being too nice. She is potentially attempting to get you arrested and charged with rape. She is essentially trying to ruin your life or at least your reputation in your area.

Go to your solicitor (/lawyer in the States) tomorrow and sort it out. Get legal advice from them, including compiling all the evidence (the internet chat log etc) etc. Then if she really does phone the cops...you're in good stead.

Who cares about ruining her relationship with her family? She's potentially going to try taking your freedom from you. Go to your lawyer tomorrow mate.

The one thing going for you is that this girl is a fvcking liar and she could just be doing this to scare the sh1t out of you without doing anything about it.

He confirmed she was attempting blackmail:

Under the Theft Act 1968 at s.21(1)

“a person is guilty of blackmail if with a view to gain for himself or another or with intent to cause loss to another, he makes any unwarranted demand with menaces...”

Custodial sentences in the most serious of cases can be up to 14 years imprisonment.

Similarly, the Crown Prosecution Service and the courts take an extremely dim view of false allegations of this nature citing the valuable waste of police time and resources and the often detrimental affect such cases have on genuine victims coming forward to report their ordeal. Consequently, as has been reported in recent high profile cases where allegations of this nature have been proven to be malicious and false, it is now the norm to push for custodial sentences for offenders.

The nature of the girls citizenship would play a part in any such scenario but only to the likely extent of that if any such allegations were to be proven;

(i) would she face immediate deportation

(ii) would she face immediate deportation once any sentenced imposed had been served

It is also of utmost importance that the Petitioner realise the position he finds himself in. Any allegation of rape will be taken very seriously by the police and consequently he could find himself the subject of a very uncomfortable and intrusive criminal investigation.

It is therefore strongly recommended that the Petitioner attend his local police station and inform them of this girls demands and provide them with any evidence you may have in your favour. The police will undoubtedly contact the girl as part of their enquiries but this pre emptive action on your behalf may force her to re think her position.

It may be the case that this is nothing more than a case of a woman scorned but where allegations of rape are concerned you cannot afford to do nothing. Your reputation and indeed your liberty may depend on it.

So it does seem there is a possibility I will face a stressful investigation by the police and no guarantee I will recover any legal costs because she is not an English citizen. Really my finances are not great so Im not particularly happy about enriching many lawyers as the fees could easily rise above £2000.

At best if I took any legal action against her she'd get deported and while that would get her out of my life it will come at quite a financial cost.

Im also worried my family will get involved. They have always warned me against getting involved with Muslim girls and while they will support me throughout it would cause strains in my relationship with my parents.

It does seem the easiest thing to do is to persuade her to reconsider her position and forget about the whole thing. Ive forwarded her the email from my lawyer and if that has no effect I will go to the police and they can contact her.

It amazes me that even a crazy chick would do something like this. I think she is feeling incredibly guilty for having sex and the only way she can live with herself is to place all the blame on me and entertain this fantasy that I seduced her or raped her. I do not feel sorry for her but it is a pity she is so desperate she is even considering anything as evil as this.

I told her my lawyer advised me to go to the police. She said that if i go to the police she will have problems when she gets back and says we must go to the police together. While it would have comedic value going together for her to report a rape I decided to go alone anyway.

The police said that her story was very suspicious citing the length of time since we first had sex, the repeated sexual encounters, the fact we were in a relationship for sometime after the event and her decision to go back to her country for two months without making a claim. They said they would question her thoroughly and they thought she would drop charges pretty quickly and I would not even need to be questioned until they felt she had a valid case and evidence to back it up. They also said that seduction isn't a crime which I found quite amusing and she cannot make a rape claim based on an assertion I seduced her.

They said that it wasn't worth pursuing the blackmail claim and it was a civil not a criminal offence.
