Surprised this isn't discussed on this side of the forum yet (from what I can see). So the guy is 25 with a LONG LIST of criminal activity and five cases pending at the time he dies.

He's arrested by the Cops for having a blade, and goes into a coma on the way to the jail. He's rushed to the hospital and dies there.

Protests take off because Black people believe the Cops "over-detained" him and caused his coma, and ultimately caused his death.

It's the same narrative, every single time. What world are we living in here people? What is up with black people? Why is it that the only time they march, riot and loot it's for Criminals? How about protesting for:

- Black Unemployment

- Better Schools

- Better Families

- Better Parenting

- Black Businesses

Am I just a black guy that's just lost here? Or is it that my "people" are lost? Which is it? Because either it's me or it's THEM, but something is fvcking wrong here.

If you believe the people are protesting because the guy was "over-detained" by the police, then you have more issues than the protesters on the streets of Baltimore.

Seems like the cops overdid it here and a man is dead. Not a guy on his way to church to be sure but the injuries that killed him imply negligence. And the cops and the mayor have sort of said as much.

The several days of peaceful protests were fine and seemed to have the cops and politicians working on doing better.

The mayor setting up an approved violence zone and neutering the police were among the dumbest things I have ever seen in urban politics/'governance'.

As for what rioting and looting have do do with Freddie Gray and Baltimore cops, everyone knows that they have nothing to do with each other.

Oh, it has been brought up, but the thread was deleted and the poster was banned. I don't know the backstory there, some dude formerly known as Naughty Ninja or something.

What they are ultimately protesting is for more interjection of minorities into the police forces. That's the bottom line. That's the cause. Sure there are plenty of SWPL and homo-loving sh*t-libs out there being the foot soldier for their idealist and 'love-for-all' agenda, but they are just idiots being manipulated by people behind the real agenda.

First off, the pocket knife found on Gray had nothing to do with his arrest, and he was not ever charged with anything. He was not a suspect in anything. Both the Baltimore PD and the Mayor have said as much. And its likely Freddie had his injuries before getting into the van...as the video shows he's clearly unable to really move. The guy looked partially paralyzed.

Furthermore, Bible Belt's post is very telling about the brutality tactics of some cops...and Nickel Rides are well known in Baltimore. There is much corruption in that city's local government as well.

Also, look over this post from another forum I post on:

You have no clue about Baltimore or the cops, though. Their reported instances of brutality are small in numbers compared to the dirty cops who steal drugs, tip off criminals, sell guns, take bribes, etc.

You people don't get it. So many of the cops here are just as bad as the criminals. To blame the people for the gangs, instead of blaming the cops and the city for not protecting the people, is so naive it's not even funny. The cops in Baltimore don't protect the people, and if you snitch on a gang member or drug dealer, there's a good chance you'll die. The cops should be handling that, but they don't.

Dawson murder case - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stop Snitchin' - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Freddie Gray was the straw that broke the camel's back. Anyone that has been in the system, white or black, knows that many of the cops here are corrupt. A dirty cop is not an isolated incident. The cops that know about this stuff look the other way.

So this kind of behavior does create resentment, and when this happened, it boils over.

So I ask the same question as Jaylan. What should people do when peaceful means don't inspire change?

They are going to their leaders

This post is by a resident of Baltimore. The place needs a ton of cleaning up. The city wont get better until the powers that be clean house from within. They have failed this city with improper funding, poor planning, poor oversight of officials and police, corruption...etc etc.

It cant all be laid at the feet of the citizenry who continually have spoken out and been ignored by those in power. In the last few years there have been over 100 cases of police misconduct or brutality that citizens have won against the BPD...costing taxpayers millions. Thats a damn shame in a city thats as poor as it is.

Even Baltimore Orioles COO John Angelos sees the bigger problems here.

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/04/orioles-john-angelos-baltimore-protests-mlb
Brett, speaking only for myself, I agree with your point that the principle of peaceful, non-violent protest and the observance of the rule of law is of utmost importance in any society. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela and all great opposition leaders throughout history have always preached this precept. Further, it is critical that in any democracy, investigation must be completed and due process must be honored before any government or police members are judged responsible.

That said, my greater source of personal concern, outrage and sympathy beyond this particular case is focused neither upon one night’s property damage nor upon the acts, but is focused rather upon the past four-decade period during which an American political elite have shipped middle class and working class jobs away from Baltimore and cities and towns around the U.S. to third-world dictatorships like China and others, plunged tens of millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation, and then followed that action around the nation by diminishing every American’s civil rights protections in order to control an unfairly impoverished population living under an ever-declining standard of living and suffering at the butt end of an ever-more militarized and aggressive surveillance state.

The innocent working families of all backgrounds whose lives and dreams have been cut short by excessive violence, surveillance, and other abuses of the Bill of Rights by government pay the true price, and ultimate price, and one that far exceeds the importances of any kids’ game played tonight, or ever, at Camden Yards. We need to keep in mind people are suffering and dying around the U.S., and while we are thankful no one was injured at Camden Yards, there is a far bigger picture for poor Americans in Baltimore and everywhere who don’t have jobs and are losing economic civil and legal rights, and this makes inconvenience at a ballgame irrelevant in light of the needless suffering government is inflicting upon ordinary Americans.
I was actually very surprised those words came from the mouth of someone controlling a big league club in that city.

And here is another VERY good social media posting on the matter.

In the last couple of years, whenever I have seen a struggle spring forth violence, a recurring message is one of image. I hear many talk about how image plays a large role into how a society and the powers that be will treat a community. Furthermore, some will say that if the community cleaned up its image, things would change for the better. But is this really true? Think of any minority community from the Black American community, to the European Muslim community, or the Palestinian Gaza community.

Two things come to mind when I think of image; there is the appearance portion and the behavior portion. When it comes to looks and appearance...why should beards, hoodies, traditional clothing, hijab, burqa, dreadlocks, beard, shaved heads, or anything like that be scrutinized by the powers that be? Why have we become influenced into believing clothing and hair are such a big part of it? Also...when it comes to behavior...why have so many become influenced into believing that peaceful reaction solves all...and that the dominating powers accept peace? Peace would be great if the government understood peace.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr was peaceful and clean cut...he wore a suit...he turned the other cheek, and had many others just like him followed his example. This did not stop him from being attacked by our government with harassment, spying, and jail time. King's family family was threatened by thugs in white hoods as well. Men like Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers were murdered regardless of any peaceful demeanor and clean cut appearance. (let's also not forget the riots these murders led too)

Juxtaposed is a man like Malcolm X, who was militant through many of his years, and spoke of freedom "by any means necessary". Men like him were not afraid of speaking of their oppressors with contempt...nor were they afraid to support violence against the powers that be. Though he turned a new leaf in his finals years, Malcolm built a leadership career on promoting force. The government and the dominant culture was very threatened by this man. He was murdered too...by his own people...and the government knew about it. Some even said our government was in on it.

So what are Africans Americans supposed to do? When we don't protest nothing changes. And when we peacefully protest, nothing changes. History is repeating itself...and many Americans expect people in poor communities not to lash out. But violence begets violence, don't you see? History has shown us that change comes through force, and that this is all a corrupt government will understand. I can not think of a single large revolution that was without its violent moments on both sides.

Heck, Ghandi was the epitome of non-violence, and he was still assassinated. Think about it people. Really think about it. I bring up all this because the people in Baltimore have aired their grievances to the city government and police for years. They have asked for ways to increase employment and rejuvenate the city. They have asked for body cameras in order to decrease police violence, and after being denied for a long time only just this month was a pilot program mentioned following the Freddie Gray killing. All this while taxpayers in a poor area continually foot the bill for millions upon millions of dollars in brutality settlements.

I liken this to what has happened in Gaza over the years. The Palestinian people continually ask for concessions in order to better their lives...but are denied...all upon excuses that would paint them all as terrorists. Am I saying there are no bad guys within Gaza? No I am not saying this. What I am saying is that most of those people are just trying to get by and live life...and that stifling supplies, electricity and water leads is terrible to see happen. And when conflict breaks out and they decide to fight back, some of the media spin it around as Israel's existence being in danger.

When people in poor communities try to come to the table, are ignored, and then continually met with inequality and violence...what response do people expect? When killings of innocents occur and no one is held responsible...how do people domestically and internationally expect these people to react.

Wouldn't we love to say that peace is the answer? I know I would very much love that. But sadly, those with the power, and those with control do not understand peace. They ignore it, and will kill you regardless of your appearance or peaceful behavior.

Think about it. A mere semblance of equal accountability would go a long way.
Think about this people. What are citizens supposed to do when their legal and peaceful calls for change are ignored? What are people supposed to do when a Chicago DA can tank a case, and let a killer cop get off after he shoots into an unarmed crowd of young people (killing one of them). "Smoking gun: Prosecutor Anita Alvarez deliberately undercharged officer who killed Rekia Boyd"

When sh!tty courts let these people get away with murder by incorrectly charging them, and on top of it, theres a lot of corruption in politics and the PD...what recourse do people have? We can say rioting is wrong all we like...but history has shown us that the use of force is all a corrupt power will understand. Especially when that power has used force for years to hold people down. It does not matter if its the American Revolution, the Civil Rights Movement, India's break away from British rule, Israel-Palestine conflict...if a community is not getting just, there will be a breaking point. Peaceful protest only do so much.

Thats all I will contribute to this thread. Actually take the time to read all of this if your mind is not completely closed off. People need to truly answer the question: If time and time again we see examples of lack of police accountability, corrupt courts, corrupt local government, and a citizenry being ignored by those holding the power...what options do citizens have when their attempts to air their grievances are continually ignored and given no peaceful resolution?

Remember the last time black people rioted when an innocent black person was killed by a black thug? Neither do I. They only seem to riot when a black criminal gets whacked by the cops. Freddy Gray was a drug dealer who had been arrested 22 times for possession and distribution of narcotics. And the guy was only 25. How anyone can grieve the death of this ****roach is beyond me. If the cops killed a white drug dealer with Freddy Gray's history, white people wouldn't be rioting. They'd be saying good riddance.

I'm guessing they believe whitey was involved. Otherwise it would have been just another day and the sound of crickets chirping.

Mark my words. Blacks/weak whyte sh!tlibs are going to hold on to this narrative each and every time a dindu is limited until quite literally cops will have no other choice but to segregate.

If you haven't already noticed just from gaylans posts. Police are the new cause de célèbre for sh!tlibs and they're going to cling to it like sh!t to a blanket until white cops refuse to serve in vibrant neighborhoods. I'll put a tenner on it.

Just another good example of the biased conservative media at work. Not one media news outlet even bothered to show any coverage when the protests were peaceful. They only swarmed in like locusts when the protests turned violent, to show 'blacks out of control' to push their "left wing thug mentality". Then Fox propraganda spins it to claim "a left wing media bias" showing more outrage against the police and whites again.

Again, if the media was so "Liberal", every network would broadcast the protests from start to finish pushing an agenda. That never happened because they only broadcast the violence showing blacks as "bad guys". If no violence occured, this protest wouldn't have seen the light of day on any networks. Just another nail in the coffin for our "Liberal Media".

The paid leftoid shill on it's forum/blog rotation frantically trying to say up is down and left is right. With even more smiley faces.

And there's that go-to "See See Fox News!!" fall guy again dusted off by desperate sh!tlibs. The approved opposition. Goodluck trying to sell that one for much longer.

You won't hear that on your conservative media networks. It's "black outrage" against whites and the police to cause harm and destruction to society further pushing their negative stereotype against blacks. So much for your "biased liberal media", when they are being biased against the group the right wing claims they are being biased for.

And as usual, you're right on que to "shut down" what a person has to say with your made up garbage a few seconds after posting. If the media is so "Liberal", they are sure doing a horrible job of making "Liberals" look good on tv.

You do your fair share of sh!tcon shilling on here don't you? Funny thing is, you're proven wrong each time and run away from the discussion. Same guy who still thinks unemployment got up to 37% and the red states don't take in the welfare they dish out to their recipients.

Yeah, with Sinclair media, Gannett, Cox, Fox, Gray, Tribune, Scripps, Clear channel etc. owning the majority of NBC, ABC, CBS affiliates, radio and print there is a conservative media. I posted tons of links to show their documented conservative bias and those companies don't even hide the fact they support conservatives. Hell, conservative GOP operatives actually own radio and TV stations pushing right wing propaganda. Your argument is crap and you have no proof to prove otherwise when the evidence is stacked against you. You continue to push your garbage, hiding from the true facts because that's what you want it to be. Facts are facts and you don't have any except for spin and undocumented proof.

I think sh!tlibs do a pretty good job of looking like retards on their own. But that's beside the point. If there was a legitimate conservative media these "peaceful protesters" would be shipped to Liberia within a week. Like I said we haven't had a legitimate conservative media for at least 40 years.

The "right" is just the left of 30, 40 years ago and the left is just the next level of lunacy we've yet to be enriched with.

It is rich vs poor protests, the ghetto had enough. This is where capitalism fails, the poor people. I know that America loves to call itself the land of opportunity, but there is a reason why so many poor among none whites - blacks, hispanics, native american. (black skin, yellow skin, red skin lol)

So anyway, this problem can be overcome by providing an opportunity to get yourself out of ghetto and out of being poor. Is that possible in America? I think not. I think most you will be able to do is provide programs for education and housing, but the problem with opportunity will remain, because no one wants to hire 'them'.

If you are unwilling to kill those people, and I know you won't do that, this will bring your country down to its knees one day.

Maybe mother Russia should take a few of them in then? Maybe you can put it to Putin, see what he says.

btw lol at lumping Asians in with the current protected classes. We'll run it past our handlers to push them further up the victim hierarchy ladder but I don't like your chances :p

"Cuz poverty". No, because of genetics and culture. You can take the person out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out the person.

You're going say with a straight face that Russia doesn't have its poor and wealthy?

Another prisoner in the van suggested Gray might have injured himself in the van prisoner-in-police-van-said-freddie-gray-was-banging-against-the-walls. Wouldn't that be typical that they rioting over something that didn't even happen like with Mike Brown.

Backbreaker is black and lives real nice. So it is not genetics. Poor has nothing to do with genetics.

There is, but can't say here that your discriminated against. Opportunity to get money is plenty. Let's face, it's cold here, 8 months out of year, in summer people travel to Europe, Egypt, Mali, Asia, etc. We travel en mass. So much so that Europe paniced after sanctions, because now we won't travel to Europe. United States don't travel this much. You need money to travel.

Plenty of black people live good who are not very low intelligence, lazy and criminally inclined. Those traits are largely inherited and not caused by being poor. There are 19 million whites in poverty and 10 million blacks. More whites are killed by police than blacks. Do you see poor whites rioting? Cuz poverty and police picking on "people of color" are false narratives.

Americans don't travel abroad so much because what do we have South of us? and we're separated from Eurasia by the two largest oceans. Plus we have plenty of varied climates, some subtropical, and places domestically to travel to.

Stagger Lee you should just come out and say "I hate black people, black people are stupid, black, and they smell". Of course you should replace 'black people' with the N word!

Blacks are slaves!

Blacks are monkeys!

Blacks are morons!

Blacks are genetically meant to be morons!

Did you know that my country gives more scolarships to African nations, more than your country, more than all other countries all put together? That's news for you? Oh I see. Well you should then know that those black students do really well and despite language difference complete their education in schools and universities and become successful in their lives.

You know what Stagger Lee, you are just racist! But it's not your fault, your country raised you that way. After all what can you expect from a country where whose roots are in slavery, or from a country that legally segregated based on race until very recently.

As someone working in this area during this situation, there are areas that are peaceful that aren't shown. There are also areas that were a whole lot worse than what was shown. It's not a good time to be out here right now, but it's been getting better.
