for the women: what is wrong with a guy who works from home?

Most people aspire to have my bed-to-living-room commute -- and my home office kicks a cubicle in the dingles any day of the week. Do women think "self-employed" means "unemployed"? Or is it something else? Just curious.

Thanks iqqi. Score one for me. Other ladies? I'm sure I just read someone say something about this.

You read a GUY say something about what women think about men who work from home. And of course it was negative.

Now a guy who "works from home" who isn't really working or making money, that is one thing. But a guy who is self employed and making a living, is great.

There are a few guys on this forum who are self employed, and some of the only guys who do NOT have problems pulling chicks. cordoncordon is one that comes to mind, and Backbreaker is two. And there are more.

I have no problem with someone who is self employed.

I think it is great.
How do you feel about men who are serving time in "Home Detention" or a guy on the Witness Protection program ?

Yes, they often can. That is a very common euphemism, and I'm surprised you don't know that. A local musician who "gets a few gigs here and there" can technically call himself self-employed, so he does.

It's like "a few extra pounds", or a seeing an ad for a "cozy" efficiency apartment.

Don't say "self-employed", that's for a census form. Just say WHAT YOU DO if someone asks you. If they want more details, "I'm my own boss." Sounds much better.

Tell them you are a self employed a$$ model... it works every time.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

You have to tell them exactly what others said. You are your own boss, you own your own business, company, etc etc.

What women dont want is the guy who sits at home and sells a football online for $100 and then calls himself employed from home. :)

I will be in your shoes as well. Most everything I do can be done at home. There are times I will have to travel and what not, but at the moment it will be the home office.

Some people are self-employed through computer companies and work from home as well.

The ONLY thing women look down on are guys who aren't making a living. In fact i'd love to some day work from home, and then be at home with my family in the future. No 9-5 at an office, but home so I can take a lunch when I feel like it, have time with the kids, and the wife.

That's what I want anyway. But I say if you can do that, GREAT. Not everyone has to work for someone else

actually most people Don't aspire to that. Most people want to go somewhere else to work and it's proven that folks are more productive in group environments. more fun too. Having said that, there is a lot to be said for having the right make up and business sense to be able to work from home successfully. As for how others feel about it, it's all in how you present this to people.

I simplified my business to where I work out of my home all the time and I love it.

I think people in general do not take the work/job/business in the home seriously. They have a tendancy to see it more as a hobby or something like that.

A few months ago I was out of a job and when a girl wanted to know my "employment status" I just told her "I'm jobless and live under a bridge."

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

How about saying you are "semi-retired", and that you like to dabble in the market. Then you could say that you do "consulting services" on the side in your old work field.

Whenever asked, this is what I say. And once I hit 55, I WILL BE retired.

How about you next the dumb b!tch who thinks less of you for working for yourself.

NEXT! (Thread, I mean).

Or will it be "What is wrong with a guy who owns his masculinity?"

Just another attempt to b!tch about dumb chics as if they are all women kind, thinly veiled as a question to us.

Wait, did you want real answers? Hmmm, didn't think so.

Disclaimer: this was not a dig at the OP, but the subsequent posters in this thread who were not as satisfied with the woman's answers.

Whatever the JOB you have, you have to be proud of it, because you chose to get that job.
If she thinks less of you because of your job, shes not a girl for you.

cheers

There is nothing wrong with a guy that works from home.

What is wrong is you asking what women think about a guy who works from home?

WHO CARES WHAT WOMEN THINK????

That is you, you work from home. There is no need for you to try to justify it or spin it or whatever.

What other things are you gonna care about and ask women next? What do women think about a guy who wears white shoes? What do women think about a guy who is tall/short/bald/hairy/fat/skinny/white/black/brown??? What? How many things are you gonna worry about?

Are you getting my point? Just be yourself and do your own thing and don't give a flying fvck about what anyone, specially women THINK!

If you are not one of those 4 types, I'm pretty sure you should be good =)
I am "d" and the woman I am with now doesn't seem to mind.
