I don't wear any cologne at all and haven't for years. But when I did I would by those knockoffs of the big-name brands at the $1 stores. I don't even have any idea if they smell anything like the real brand because I've never smelled the real thing. But I don't care, its cheap and thats all that mattered.

I too thought that cheap scents made sense when I was younger.

But later in life, I realized that I simply smelled cheap. Cheap women don't care - they smell cheap, too. But real cologne is expensive for a reason - it smells ten times better than cheap stuff.

But it is not out of reach. Some of the slightly older designer stuff you can get for $20-30. Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren usually sell a sampler of five different small bottles for about $20. I don't care how poor you are - smelling good for months is worth twenty bucks. Go and mow an old lady's yard or something. There are better ways to save money than buying gigantic $5 bottles of 'designer impostor' cologne that smell like a truck stop bathroom.

This is precisely the crap I've vowed to fight against on this board. Morons like this telling young DJ's that nothing else matters besides your game. This will produce a bunch of delusional, sloppily dressed, terrible smelling guys, walking around with their head up high, thinking they're the shyt, and wondering why they aren't getting laid.
I rarely see any of these delusional guys you're talking about when I go out. I'd go so far to say they rarely exist. But I do see the counter example A LOT - guys who don't work on their game but assume if they get the looks, the money, the job, they're suddenly gonna be able to pull. Look at all the dudes on the wall in the club. They spent a ton of time picking out their clothes, puttign gel in their hair, spraying cologne on themselves, etc. They have it but still can't do sht in the clubs. Why? Because they don't have game

the notion that looks will fix everything is the basis of errant social conditioning. Which is why guys insist looks don't matter - to point out the errant social conditioning to dudes that don't know any better

by all means, improve yourself, but keep everything in context. like I said before, looks will get you attention and open doors. game is what allows you to CLOSE

back to cologne

My favourite scent is "green irish tweed" from Creed. It's a fresh and masculine fragrance. If you want something cheaper, Zino Davidoff made an imitation of this scent with the name "cool water". This scent is similar but somewhat artificial and synthetic. Vetiver by Guerlain is classy but nothing I would wear on a date. Personally I would avoid scents like Chrome by Azzaro
and 212 by Carolina Herrera. Both smell really good but a bit too feminine.
Women in general like sweet scents, like Hanae Mori or fresh(lemony) scents like Acqua di gio or Issey Miyake so stick to those types.
