It was really difficult to deal with at first, but then I learned how manageable it is. I avoid eating the foods that are major triggers, keep my stress down (which is fairly easy for me) and take a couple of inexpensive pills daily.

My gf recently went and got tested. She hasn't caught HSV-2 from me. However, she discovered she's positive for HSV-1 which she didn't even know.

The bottom line is, almost everybody has herpes. Cold sores, genital sores, chicken pox, shingles... It's all herpes.
Des I curious why do you take the pills everyday? I hear from others that they take it only when they feel an outbreak coming on....

Was just the first outbreak bad with the flu like symptoms, burning pee, and aches? Are all the other ones just the sore? Does the sore hurt by itself or only if you touch it? Just curious about these things. And yeah HSV-1 is like 80% of the population.

I known a few girls who have sex counts well into the triple digits, and never used condoms. I think some people just have immune systems that can beat down the virus. That's why just about everyone has the antibodies, but outbreaks are much more rare.

I was married to a woman for seven years who had it. She didn't know until right after we moved in together. She had a first outbreak years ago, and the doc in her island country did not tell her what it was. He just gave her a topical cream and told her it would go away. Then her second outbreak came when she was with me, and an American doctor diagnosed her. We just avoided sex when she felt an outbreak coming on. That's all it took for me not to get it, or at least to never have an outbreak. That was almost twenty years ago. If I have it, I've never given it to anyone.

I do think it's a bullsh!t conspiracy of big pharma to tell everyone who tests positive for the antibodies that they must go on daily medication for the rest of their lives. Those fvckers don't give a sh!t about your health. They just want to sell pills.
Yeah that's what I asked Des. The people I know that have it only take the pills when they feel the outbreak coming on. BB did you bang her raw?

I honestly never feel the outbreak coming on. It just shows up as an itchy spot and when I realize what it is, it's too late. I take them every day to avoid passing it on to the GF.

Yup, had all of that. It lasted for about a month. I didn't have all those things at once though. It started as burning pee, then it turned to aches in my legs and ass, and then I started getting "hot flashes". Then the first sore showed up.

Umm, that doesn't sound like fun at all. I think most of us would want to avoid this.

It wasn't fun at all, but the good news is that the first outbreak is the worst. Herpes also typically gets more dormant the longer you have it.

I had to learn very quickly that having herpes wasn't the end of the world. I lead pretty much the same sex life I had before I was diagnosed with it. The only difference is that I wait until the 4th date to tell her that I have it, and every time I've fvcked her on the same night.

But pretty much everyone has some form of herpes in their system. My GF decided to go get tested last month to see if she caught HSV-2 from me by some chance. She didn't, but was surprised to find out she was positive for HSV-1, and she's never had an outbreak.

She should have told you she had herpes before she mouthed your d1ck. That wouldve been real honesty. Id pass due to this fact alone.

Why would she tell me if she didn't even know? The only reason she went and got tested is because I have it. It's now evident that the both of us have it, although we each have different types. My point in all of this is, lots of people have it and some don't even know.

Here's a little theory. Older, attractive, seemingly together, still single women? They've got HSV-2. They've also gotten tired of telling men they have it and being rejected, so in some cases they don't tell you. Until after.

Oh wait, it's not a theory. It's happened to me. More than once.

Just ended a relationship that lasted three years with someone who told me *before*. Did I get it? No outbreaks...but that doesn't mean I don't have it. I could be asymptomatic. So now I need to get tested.

Herpes was not even considered an STD until they found a drug that could suppress it accidentally. So they marketed it and made big money. I don't have it, but I know people and they tell me its overrated and they rarely if ever get an outbreak
