I have metaphorically killed myself by visiting a prostitute after a separation five years ago. Regretted what I did since I was unable to shake off the memory or unsee or reverse visiting that particular prostitute and was in a state of mental hell for a month and a half or so afterwards. The way I felt afterwards was like a zombie. So, I guess it felt like I killed myself without actually killing myself. That's what prostitutes are for, to prevent suicides as you can deflect your rage of the break-up or separation on them right?
