You're reading too much into this bro. Just start out with light weight. You'll get the feel for it rather quickly.

Instead of pushing with the entire foot, or just the front of the foot, push with the heel end. Balance is better, and you can usually shift more weight [In my experience]

What DJBen said. Basically just keeping your weight on your heels, rather than on the toes.

So when you are driving off from the bottom, start with pushing yourself off the ground with your heels. When you get to around mid-thigh level combine it with a pull from the back.

Yeah, agreed. Squats and deadlifts will add hair to your chest, and make anything else in life seem easy in comparison.

In fact if you were to only squat, deadlift, dip and chin you could build an incredible body in the space of two years if you worked really hard and ate a lot.

Sometimes when lifting the bar up it hits my knees. Does this mean I have bad form?

Also what is a good bodyweight/lifting-weight ratio that I should aim for.

I weigh 57kgs and currently am deadlifting 35kgs (just started out 2 weeks ago)

I've got roughed up shins from my last back day - I try and keep the bar pretty much ON my shins. I always try and avoid hitting my kneecap though, even if it does mean slightly moving the bar around the knee. Then it goes right up the thigh and back down.

Push from the entire foot/heels and make sure your shoulders stay BEHIND the bar. Also, despite what a good few people say, try and keep your hips as close to the bar as possible with a straight back. If you watch anyone deadlift serious weight, they dont actually squat right down with their ass near the floor, they stick near the bar with a fairly straight back.

Good form for the big three [Bench, Deadlift and Squat in my books] is essential. Every month and a half or so I have a low weight high rep workout followed by a heavier workout. Not only does it stimulate the muscle to grow because you're shocking it with a different training method, but it allows me to work on any problem with my form.
