Very true.

The exception to this rule is when one is able to listen to his body, and recognise what the supplements are doing to him. If he knows how to use them to his advantage, then more power to him.

The guideline is always X amount of protein per lbs of LEAN body mass. Though people enjoy thinking it's per lb., I believe they are wrong. I'm saying that your body wont be fully processing all that protein for a long time, so why waste it? You cant put a demand on your body to up protein consumption off that bat - and thats what a lot of people seem to do.

Most people here seem to start their new diet right away. Cut down all the high GI carbs, throw some low GI carbs in their system. They move from messed up high sugar diets that are low in protein, to a complex carb and very high protein diet. They change it over night. To efficently change your diet, you have to do it slowly.

I didnt make any sort of reference to the importance of protein. Ronnie Coleman in The Unbelieveable was consuming... *wracks brains* 200-220? That was enough for him. Anymore was a waste. He was close to 300lbs when he started cutting for Mr O. You think someone that's 155lbs, for example, should really be consuming almost the same amount of protein as a pro BB'er? I mean, lets put this into perspective, the difference is less than a can of high quality tuna.

My general message was **** the latest thing that'll do wonders for you. Are you planning to make a career out of it? Are you wanting to break some sort of record? Are you wanting to be one of those amazing guys that eats, sleeps and breathes BBing? Probably not. Some of you might want to be that way, but I'm sure many of you wont have what it takes to be close to pro. I know I dont. I know my limits.

This is something not many people around here realise. Screw the 40/40/20 for cutting, while you're taking whey, creatine and glutamine. Hows it going in the mirror there pal? Are you seeing a difference? Are you feeling the difference? How does your wallet feel about all of this stuff to 'enhance' your performance?

With a little extra time and good training, the only difference is the amount of time it takes to get there. It takes a bit longer than if you shelled out loads of cash for a few suppliments, but does that REALLY matter to you?

So I might as well clarify this for anyone picking posts apart. Yes, protein is important. Yes, you should have a lot of it. You can eat all you want - it doesnt concern me. It's not my body, and it's not my training. But if you cant listen to your body and study yourself to see if somethings working, theres a big problem. Why not experiment with ratio's of things? Why not try less protein, or more protein. Try less carbs, or more carbs. Play around with all the fats - just dont think that cause a website said 2g of protein per lb of bodyweight really is the answer for a newb to BBing.

Everything but the last paragraph was a pile of crap. What the hell are you trying to say? You keep contradicting yourself and pulling others down. I bet you're one of those that use the "genetic limit" excuse not to grow further.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Eventually you tailor your needs to your body when you get an understanding of what works and what doesn't.

How the hell are the newcomers going to know where to start if these guidelines are nonexistant or "useless"?

Those who tell you that your nutrition needs are the same as the next man's, have no appreciation of the scale of genetic individuality. Without such an appreciation, they have no understanding of the nutrition needs of anyone.

Well, I just finished my chest/shoulder workout and had the creatine with some cold water. It's not bad at all. Tastes like fruit punch. I was dead tired after the workout, but as I was drinking it, my muscles felt...Healed. Strange.

You're using something flavoured containing dextrose such as Phosphagen HP, correct? Pure creatine monohydrate is tasteless and odorless.

One last question...What's the point of half before a workout and half after a workout? What about a full size before and a full size after?

Whats in that link is good solid info, and generally speaking the boards [except teen] arent too bad. I still prefer tmag though :p

I'm no creatine whizz, so I cant really help. Although as far as I understand, you take some before so it starts kicking in during/just after your work out and the rest to keep it all going and let your muscles easily relax and heal. Though thats guesswork.

Creatine does NOT relax or heal.

Pre for creatine muscle saturation and post because the muscles are depleted of creatine and are begging for more. That's it.

In a sense I suppose it has a healing effect. Since your taking more water, and more water is being absorbed by your muscles, they have an easier time recovering. We all know water is one of the necessities of life ;)
