A couple of years ago I met a woman at work, she was flirting with me, and a rumor went round the office that she liked me because "I'm a man" compared to her boyfriend. I eventually asked her out but got rejected. I should have moved sooner.
I was recently talking to her and I found out she's now engaged to her boyfriend. So presumably he proposed and she said yes, and she seems pretty happy about it.
And I find that a bit scary. Here's a woman with a boyfriend she was happy to run down in front of her colleagues at work, but all he has to do is buy her an engagement ring, and he becomes marriage material. How does that work?
Did they "work it out"? Is she "settling"? And more importantly, how many other women are like this? All of them?
Does every great relationship have periods where one partner doubts the other and even considers leaving them? Or maybe the poor bastard proposed and she was too much of a coward to say no, so she said yes just to maintain the status quo, does that happen a lot?
I just want to understand more about what might have happened so I can avoid these kind of traps in the future. And I sure as hell don't want to end up marrying a woman like this.
