Just watched La Horde and it sucked !!! The French don't know how to make good movies. They ruined the aliens franchise and now they are making crappy zombie films...!!

:cuss:  :nono: :(

Well at least Spain has better producers / directors and better movies...hopefully Rec2 will be as good if not better than Rec.

kinda a borderline "zombie movie," per se, but i really enjoyed I Am Legend, the Will Smith movie. it's the same setup as what you said you liked, the "me against the world" feeling. and it's got some zombie type creatures in it...

In the last few years, I've found myself increasingly interested in this whole zombie phenomenon. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it sets all other "apocalypse" scenarios apart from this because of the unknown factor to it.

I'm certainly enticed by Romero's visions and lately by Max Brooks' vision of the zombie apocalypse, and the conclusion that I've come to is that what enthralls me so much about it all is the humanity of it.

It seems to bring out the best and worst out in all of us. The survival instinct will most certainly override the human factor yet how many times do you find yourself thinking: If my best friend got infected, I'd shoot him between the eyes.

But would you really?

I guess deep down inside, Romero's visions and the latest visions force us to face the inner us that some of us might not even know exist.

Weird rant in the middle of this thread, and mostly because I woke up today listening to the Battle of Yonkers and then later watched the "news reports" from the Dawn of the Dead remake... the ones where it's just going off on reports all over the world and ALMOST seems realistic.

I find that if it's a meteor we are facing or a huge tidal wave or anything uncontrollable like that, it's easier to come to terms with because it's something out of our control and something that we can't put a face to. But when it's imagining our loved ones, our friends, and people we see everyday, coming towards mindlessly wanting to "eat us"... it's pretty frightening.

Yeah I Am Legend was great too, definitely has that feeling, even more so than other zombie movies because it's basically just Will Smith and his dog (well, the mother and daughter later on). It's worth mentioning that the novel that was released in the 1950's is what actually inspired Romero to create Night of the Living Dead.

And Kailex, I hear what you're saying. At first I watched zombie movies in hopes that I would get captured in cheap scares and thrills, but later I became enthralled in the whole sense of the apocalypse itself. It isn't the zombies themselves that makes zombie movies so enjoyable to watch, but the idea in itself; being attacked by those that were once close to you or people you've even known briefly, like the mailman.

A zombie movie that I thought does a great job of covering what you're saying is one you wouldn't expect...Shaun of the Dead, a horror/comedy but mostly a comedy. There are several moments in the movie where a loved one was bitten, later dying, and a person close to that loved one stubbornly denied the situation at hand.

Watched diary of the dead yesterday, good premise but failed to actually scare or instill a fear of dread like other zombie movies.

Diary of the Dead was Romero's attempt to cash in on the first person shaky camera trend.I enjoyed Diary of the Dead, but his new movie Survival of the Dead was a stinker; Bad acting, annoying characters, and no sense of dread or atmosphere.

yea i agree just watched diary of the dead (which sucked) it seems like romero watched the, Rec, movies and got inspired. He copied a ton of elements from, Rec 2, which was brilliant and IMO one the of best if not the best zombie movie ever made !!!!!

Wrong about Frenchy not making good movies! Watch Haute Tension and Inside and these should make you change your mind. I have no clue as far as them making zombie flicks.

1) Dawn of The Dead- Original
2) Night of the living Dead
3) Dawn of The Dead- Remake

Everything Romero has done since Day of the Dead has been complete and utter garbage. Land and Diary both sucked!! He has one that come out this year and the reviews were pretty dismal, so I did not bother with it either.

Anybody saw Resident Evil: Afterlife?

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't movies too seriously and it was good campy fun. I really appreciated the little game things that were thrown in.

The 3D was pretty good as well. They used the same cameras that were used in Avatar.

I've been wanting to watch it since I've heard about it but man, college eats more into your wallet than a gold digger.
