We had dinner planned a month ago but she felt weird and backed out. The family knew about it and were supportive of it but last night I get a FaceTime which I missed. So I text her today and go ‘was that a pocket FaceTime’ and she goes ‘no I was out with Mary’ and I was like ‘haha what did you guys want to Ft about’ and she’s like ‘we were out that’s all’

do I ask her back out to dinner?

Nah, she needs to ask you out since she backed out initially.

I’d leave her on read since she is being dry on text as well.

Personally, if I am just looking for a lay, then the sister of any good friend of mine is off limits.

On the off chance that there is some LTR potential, and the chemistry is natural and develops organically, then I will play the long game and not force anything, all the while considering how I would feel if I were in my friend's shoes. Assuming my friend gives his blessing, it will play out how it plays out.

Ultimately, at the end of the day though, maintaining my friendship with my best friend would be more important than any personal desire to bed his sister...

No need to potentially add conflict to a friendship if you don't have to, there are plenty of other girls out there to pursue.

I'm stunned to learn that anyone still uses FaceTime. I take it you all still record each episode of General Hospital via VCR as well

If you want to, ABSOLUTELY!!! Your desires are what's paramount , hoss: Whatever anyone else thinks or feels about this subject is worth less than JonBenet Ramsey's application to Julliard, here in '24

Perhaps a booty call opportunity as she would have some plausible deniability, ie, "I was drinking".

I wouldn't...she needs to put the effort in, she backed out. Don't chase her.

If you chase a cat they run away and hide, then hiss at you if you try and get it out...if you ignore it and pay no attention to it eventually they get curious and come around to see what is going on...

Treat women like cats.

This. Text her "Meow" OP. Randomly. See what happens

If she responds "?" say you were just thinking about cats. Two can play this game.

If you're Haitian or Chinese, just refrain from tossing them onto your backyard grill, until your neighbors aren't looking
Remember I was eating at a Chinese Buffet once and as we were sitting there we watched Animal Control drive around to the back door.

Suffice to say we spit out what we had in our mouth and left in a hurry. Never went back to that one.

I have rarely used FaceTime. I didn't know that FaceTime had fallen out of popularity.

I didn't know General Hospital was still airing new episodes on TV. It's been on ABC since 1963. No one can follow character arcs for 61 years.

Daytime soap operas in the United States have fallen out of popularity. It's been a long slow death for them. A number of daytime soaps that had been on 40+ years were cancelled in the 2000s-2010s.

A former colleague of mine HAS been following this one from the beginning. Incomprehensible as most of us find such a feat, apparently it is achievable, even if such instances are more rare than Riyadh not executing one of it's own citizens for openly advocating an end to The House Of Saud

Yeah, they're similar to The Red Pill-sphere, in that sense... Neither are especially new(The Aenid is heavily soap operatic. Long before men in America started emulating The Woke Left, by communicating exclusively in opaque jargon and buzzwords, there was https://www.sosuave.net/forum/threads/rationale-male-players-handbook.282121/#post-3116512 ), and they never really go away either, so much as they re-manifest themselves in different forms. Game Of Thrones, Sons Of Anarchy, and Pretty Little Liars were all heavily soapy. And The Blacklist went from being a galvanizing ode to the work of Micheal Mann in it's first two seasons

To a soap opera more maudlin than anything one finds on daytime TV, in all seasons afterwards

Beats eating at a Korowai deli, and discovering an eyeball or a testicle in your soup, especially after you've already taken a bite out of it

All kidding aside this is probably the route. This family and I go back 35 years, I mean she’s a big girl and if she wants to send me a text at some point we can discuss it in the moment, but I’m going to just sit back and let this unfold. She would obviously be someone I would approach with kid gloves
