Well perhaps reliability wise...it says they are average reliability in the latest rankings, but maintenance wise they are definitely more expensive.None of that is true - and I know, I've driven a Jaguar for many years, and a Mercedes before that.
Jaguar got a bad reputation when British Leyland took them over in the 1970s. Things have changed greatly over time though and most of the running gear isn't company specific nowadays either.
The gear box is the same one as goes in equivalent Mercedes, the engine is basically Ford. So they're as reliable as most other cars - apart from Japanese stuff which is more reliable than any European car.
Just because you lucked out and got one that may not have many issues doesn't mean others are as lucky.
"Compared to other luxury vehicles, Jaguars are relatively expensive to keep in top working condition. According to Repairpal, your Jaguar will cost you around $1,300 per year in upkeep and an average of $17,636 during the first ten years of service."
