My aunt did this for years. Prepare to not have any friends and be avoided by your family.

Basically, don't do it, it's retarded.

sheesh..

Well I signed up 2 days ago already, it costed me R800 which isnt much money for me, so i'm just going to try it and see what happens.... I'm not planning on BUYING any tapes or anything like that, I'm going to do what I WANT TO DO, seeing as that i am an INDEPENDENT business owner, I can do wtf I want to do. I plan on just getting other "suckers" to join, and sell a few products on the side when I need a few extra bucks. So i'm not making this the centre of my life, just "exploring" per se. If it doesnt work, then too bad.. if it dos, then great. But I MUST admitt, the speakers etc that they have ARE really convincing:D

Abyways.. thanx for all the replies, really made me look at it at a different perspective, and I'm not going to rush into anything and/or commit myself into anything in any rush;)

So basically, you lied. And furthermore, you posted this thread, not in an attempt to actually get advice, but merely in a weak attempt to justify and validate (stupid and gullible) actions you had already taken.

Primerica, Amway are MLM scams.

People involved in them will front like they are making lots of money, but in reality, they are not.

Do a google on Primerica, or Amway or any other MLM system out there.

It all sounds good on paper, but it rarely, if ever materializes into success.

I looked into MLM, including Primerica and Amway a while back when I was unemployed.

Went to the meetings, did the conference calls, etc...

These MLM's consist of selling overpriced products to your friends and family, and trying to get them to recruit others to do the same.

It doesn't work, and you will end up getting stuck with overpriced products that you can't sell, while fostering resentment among your friends and family for trying to get them involved in this BS

Your friend is making 300-350 dollars per month after a few months?

Big deal.

And like someone else said, how much is he spending out of pocket on training materials, gas, not to mention his time?

I bet he's earning about a dollar per hour when you factor it all in.

At the next meeting, ask how many people are making a minimum of 50K per year, net.

You probably won't get an honest answer, but instead, you'll be shown copied of "commision" checks and such.

Anyways, it's your time, it's your money.

You'll learn the hard way, which is the way most life lessons are taught.

Good luck.

Giovanni Casanova:

{1} Up until now, I thought you were a kewl oak and rather humorous, but now I see why people here dislike you, so kindly refrain from posting in ANY of my threads in future. I hope that’s not TOO much to ask of you.

{2} I made a mistake with the timing, big deal?

I made this thread to get input, NOT advise on Amway, so please kindly take your flames, and GO **** YOURSELF.

Jvesti: I used the word "suckers" so it would be in context with how people here describes the people that joined Amway etc. If I personally thought that they were "suckers" then I wouldn’t have joined them to start off with, now would I?

Derek Flint: Good post, and what u say might be true, but that’s why I am not going to rely on this to "make an income", I'm going to rather see it as a side job that I enjoy doing, if it brings money in, then great, if it doesn’t, then I haven’t really lost that much;)

Awww, too bad... it pisses you off that I'm right. First off, your opinion of me does not matter one iota to me. Second of all, any idiot on this thread can see that when you're asking about Amway (which IS a MLM scam), you keep trying to contradict anybody who says anything bad about the decision you had already made. That's called cognitive dissonance (you don't like being called a "sucker", and that's basically what you are). And by the way, I'll post any damn where I want to, thanks.

{2} I made a mistake with the timing, big deal?
Bullsh*t. You had already joined the scam before you posted this thread. You heard that it was a dumb idea and you posted here hoping people would tell you that it wasn't. You weren't interested in hearing ANYTHING to the contrary. You were already "invested" when you posted this thread. It's clear to anyone who reads your initial posts, and you merely confirm it further in the thread.

I made this thread to get input, NOT advise on Amway
You asked, "Would you consider it a wise choice to join their business?" But you didn't care about the answers you received -- actually, you just wanted people to tell you that you hadn't royally f*cked up.

so please kindly take your flames, and GO **** YOURSELF.
First off, you haven't even BEGUN to see what a flame from me looks like. Second... is that really the best you've got? "GO **** YOURSELF"? You're almost there, but you're going to have to work a bit harder to really develop the sh*tty attitude you need to be a TRUE Amway salesperson. It's right here in the Amway Employee Guide:

AMWAY EMPLOYEE GUIDE

  1. Be Gullible. Check.
  2. Delude Yourself. Check.
  3. Try to Get Others to Justify Your Stupidity. Check.
  4. Attack People For Being Honest With You. Check.
  5. Estrange Yourself From Family and Friends. You probably aren't there yet, but if you keep practicing your new-found piss-poor attitude, you'll accomplish this in record time.
  6. Become a Pariah by Relentlessly Hounding Everyone You Know Just to Stay Afloat in MLM Scam.
  7. Try to Recruit Others Who Are Somehow Just as Dumb as You. This is going to be a tough one... most people are smart enough to avoid Amway.[/list=1]

Anyway, have a real nice day.

I've never logically understood how one can make substantial profit from these MLM businesses.

I've always thought of it this way: If you are a middle class guy, and you're selling to your middle class relatives, then you're only going to be as rich as they can afford to pay you - which is middle class profit.

Unless you have about a million rich family members and friends who are ALWAYS willing to buy whatever it is you have to sell, you're not gonna get wealthy in this way.

You have to be cunning , cutthroat and sneaky to be rich. But be it to people you don't know or care about. And do it using more profitable means than MLM.

Giovanni Casanova: In 2 years time, we'll see who the idiot is between the 2 of us... while ur working ur @ss off every day, I’ll sit back, watch my money flow in, and laugh at you. But in order to get to that point, i WILL need to work and devote myself to this business for the next few years.

I went to a presentation and spoke to for about 3 hours with people that had just joined the business about 2 - 4 years ago, and now they are making about R35 000 + a month and they can sit back and relax for the rest of their lives and they will earn that per month till the day they die.

And yes, not everyone who joins gets to that stage, but those who work at it constantly, DO get there. And whether it takes me 2 years, or 10 years to get to that point, i WILL get there, u, along with anyone else that thinks its a scam, can go on living your lives working ur @sses off making a living, while in a few years time I'll be able to retire:rolleyes:

You can think I am full of sh!t and being an idiot, but i got all the proof I need to KNOW that it DOES work, for those who put the effort in, and I am one of those ppl that are willing to put that effort in, and more if need be.

The truth can vary depending on each persons point of view, so you can keep on seeing YOUR truth, while I see MINE, and we will see who's truth will turn into reality in the future.

I admire your determination by making the people above you even richer while "sitting back and relaxing". They love determined underlings like you.

Yeah... thats what i said though.... I'm gong to see if this thing works (which it seems to) ... but if this really IS the biggests scam I have ever seen, then I WILL only do it as a side job. I'm doing a BBA at the moment as well, so if things dont work out here, I'm still gonna be able to get a well respected job, or maybe even open up my own business;)

...call me crazy, but if I found out the company I was working for was a scam, I'd quit.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

Firstly, these people up speaking make their money DOING these speaches as I said before. Most of the money in AMWAY is from the "tools" business. They are also paying exorbitant expenses in relation to how high up they get.

So they actually aren't relaxing, their constantly on the road doing these speeches and making tools. And to make this income need to keep on doing more seminars, speaches, etc. So they keep working harder harder and harder. These people are the people most needed to keep amway going and people buying into it.

Again please go to www.merchantsofdeception.com or org? and read the book it will save you a whole lot of time. There's a reason why the guy gives the book away for free.

Amways doesn't sell products, it sells hope. You think those guys at the top are working 10 hours a week??? C'mon think about it.

Also keep in mind that Stupid people actually dont fall for amway. Stupid people generally dont attach their self worth to their intelligence or how right they are. They more easily can admit their wrong.

Its smart people who fall for amway. A person of intelligence can be a danger to himself because an intelligent mind wants to never admit they made a mistake, AND can easily come up with reasons to justify his behavior.

Emotions can easily get the best out of a person. People make decisions on emotions and back them up with logic. There's really no person on earth who thinks completely logically. The site of easy money has gotten at ya and it seems so real with sites and visions of this wealth. But its simply not true not only that you aren't in the same pyramid situation or social circumstances these people are. That i frankly believe are scraping by and not disclosing their expenses. Studying the system it makes no sense, the figures of success rate aren't good, and the fact that the whole sales pitch is based on deception and hiding information.

You wanna get rich invest in real estate, save your money be frugal and buy franchises, learn how to invest in stocks.

Again who do you think is being deceptive or deceived themselves: The people with their hopes, dreams, and wallet at stake OR people like me and others with personal experiences, and the websites that speak out against amway/quixtar? Who has more at stake to paint a picture that isn't true or believe a lie.

I just find it humorous that anyone thinks he's going to get rich on Amway to the point where he honestly believes that he will be laughing as his money "flows in" while I'm "working my ass off". That's the very definition of delusion, and it's people like that which Amway preys on. Now he can piss away his money all he likes, I don't really care. But at least I can say that I tried to warn him.

I will also say this for the record: if you want to be successful in business, joining Amway isn't the way, but it wouldn't hurt to figure out how they manage to brainwash people and turn them into little cult followers. THAT could really help a business-oriented person.
