Also experienced members were always leaving. By the time I joined Victory Unlimited and the old crew started posting scarcely. Pook and Anti-Dump were LONG gone. Then the Karma Sutra guy got married, jophil died, a few people got banned, squirrels disappeared for some reason, Rollo Tomassi posts once in a blue moon, backbreaker left and came back like 5 times. I bet most people don't remember Warboss Alex of the health and fitness section, the last time Quicksilver made a non-vault post, or the dudes that used to frequent it that rarely go on now like CarlitosWay and Fuglydude who only go on once in a while. So on. A lot of new blood comes in as well. Fact is this board is made of people from the world, and as such we tend to have lives and eventually we will go too.
STR8UP's gone, Francisco D'Anconia's not around... *sigh* V.U. and some others went off to another site, after being discouraged by the tips-and-tricks sort of junk masculinity, if memory serves... I guess I could re-read some old PM's if it mattered.
Wyldefire?
It's funny, I realize now that I should've been more active in the Wingman Forum. A dude from my gamer days popped in after a search for my username wondering what ever became of me. It got me thinking. I kind of felt shi++y when I remembered I spent hours and hours chatting with him and my "clan" on battlecom (voice link). I ficking
knew those guys. Hell, met one of them in St. Louis, MO... "Mr. Serious". I knew his kids' names! Then later met "Froggy" out in San Luis Obisbo, CA. I know Puntangerang is up in the twin cities area, which I'm close to now. I know his brother's name FFS. Francisco D'Anconia is up there, too, last I knew. Life gets in the way sometimes, huh?
Anyway, when the ƒuckwits move in and start posting 'millenial' style "help me, I refuse to help myself by bootcamping and bible reading, just give me the answer so I don't have to think beyond the question" crap, it frustrates the community... the community of guys that know each other but never meet due to a physical location issue. It's tough to have decent dude friends with all the douchebaggotry so rampant, so a like-minded internet community has a valuable
esprit de corps. That value is diminished by the spectrum of trolls with who knows what personality disorders and who knows what between their legs. If the frustration comes from a site, well, folks simply avoid the site. Or, asked to be banned to cut themselves off from spending so much time smoking the internet crack. (That's why many good posts are by banned members, PairPlusRoyalFlush. Many have ASKED to be banned; I've considered it, too.)
I've moderated with some intelligent folks before, and, it was agreed that more moderation means more coverage (more fingers on the "delete" button, and more patience). BUT, those particular forums democratically elected it's moderators via a poll. For example, a thread in the moderators area titled: "( . )( . ) as moderator?" Then a yes/no vote poll. Simple. If agreed, ( . )( . ) would get a PM asking if he was interested in the responsibility. Then, clickety-click, *poof*
( . )( . )

p I
feelz glad
you're still around, boob dude.)
Maybe that's already how it's done here. *shrug*
Consider this: if a forum is plagued, how much "harm" could a few "bad" moderators do if there was an
army of them? If this place elected moderators based on whether or not they "get it", then, having the title "Moderator" under their name would not only "Give them a fine reputation to live up to", but also the site would retain more of the "doctors", as PokerStar put it. The "badness" would be far-outweighed by the goodness, so far as I see. Would over-moderation be any worse than under-moderation?
Wouldn't it be sweet as hell if an old schooler like Señor Fingers got on and started clicking "delete" on negativity?
Pook: "Wow, after coming back from months..." *click* *click*
Karma Sutra: *click* "I hear ya... who let all these women in here?" *click* "Better."
Pook: *click-clickety-click* "...yup. Shaping up nicely." *click*
 That's all I have to say about that. G'night.
