I'm used to relationships following an arc: rise, crest, decline. This seemed great up until the last instant, when my brain/balls told me it was suddenly over. It's not as simple to stop caring about someone after six months. Rationalizations get more desperate, you start thinking about compromise. I'm sure she's using this time to consider her options. I've made myself available to talk, and if she doesn't respond by the weekend I'll be ready to wash my hands for good.

There are butch military chicks out there for sure, but this wasn't one of them. Unfortunately she's got hella psychological baggage. My plate spinning was never great but it can't be any more trouble than dealing with a girl who seems determined to have another dude's kid.

Anyway I'm skeptical of her particular explanation, but I've done some research on rape and talked to a few professionals. I encourage anyone who says something like "those women are raped voluntarily" to do the same.

In the first situation the interaction is NOT wanted and I'm guessing that 'dude' would have a problem. The second situation, not so easy to classify. Whose to say she didn't want it? The guy was likely an Alpha, and if she just lets it happen, somewhere in her mind, she is complying.

What kind of a chicken sh1t outfit are you running over there if your officers willingly submit to the enemy? Well there's TV then there's real life. The backbone of the military is kids. They get in for whatever reason (often facing a socioeconomic dead end) and find themselves in a massive, lumbering bureaucracy. They're not all "TRAINED KILLERS", they're mechanics and office jockeys who haven't fired a round since boot and work all day in support of the logistical systems that make it possible for the relative minority of combat hardasses to make the news.

Don't get me wrong; I have a lot of questions about all this. But you have the wrong idea about the military.

Every time I hear a guy explaining a situation like this, I am reminded of a scene from the movie, Natural Born Killers, when an older Native American man tells this tale:

I see what you are saying, but what is the alternative ? Send in troops with machetes? The U.S. has always had a strong military in part because of our technological advantages...The A-bomb was the cutting edge technology for its time which allowed the U.S. to emerge victorious against Japan. While it's a sickening thought to think of the human casualties of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the A-bomb was effective in ending a war which could of lasted much longer and cost more lives.....
We do have guys in special forces (Seals, Green B's, Rangers, etc...) which I assume are a match for any soldier in the World.

Someone said I was a slave. He's right. This is the most physically intense relationship I've ever had, which has made it easy to look past a lack of any real kind of intellectual connection. After awhile I became complacent and stopped being assertive enough, so in all likelihood she started getting bored and looked for trouble on the ship. I did the right thing to kick her out, and if I hadn't contacted her again she would probably be camping outside my apartment. But my guilt and kindness smack of desperation and have probably made sure I'll never see her again. She's got a warped mind, and anyone who expects a stable, trusting relationship with her is likely deluded.

But I finally understand the depth of my primal attraction to her, something I've never felt for nice, sweet, well behaved girls. It's time to man up about this. I'm going to tell her to be at my place tomorrow. If she shows up, I'll take things one day at a time. If not, I never contact her again and move on.
