Hello all,

I've made an article about increasing your deadlifts. I looked into my books, searched the internet & took my training journal.

These 34 ways to increase your Deadlift are the results of my findings.

You can find the full article here:

Hope you'll like it.

overhand grips untill you can't hand the weight huh. Can you elaborate on that?
Hi,

Fixed the error, thanks for reporting.

Overhand grip:

Your maximum weight on the deadlift is 300lbs. What you should do is using an overhand grip for all sets. Finally once you get close to your max weight, start using the alternate grip.

Example:
5x130lbs overhand grip
3x180lbs overhand grip
3x210lbs overhand grip
2x250lbs overhand grip
1x270lbs overhand grip (here you start losing grip, weight gets to heavy)
1x290lbs alternate grip
1x300lbs alternate grip

By using the overhand grip as long as possible, you make the exercise harder on your grip.

got it?

-Mehdi.

I Deadlift barefoot as he seems to help me dig in to bring the hips and legs in plus I am tall 6-2 and it helps to not have to lend over as far.

Do you see any problems with this as I use to do them with shoes but it just didn't feel natural.

Thanks

Barefoot is better than lifting with running shoes.

Just don't neglect the advantage of lifting shoes. Converse All Starr are cheap & great shoes for lifting. Weightlifting are even better (but more expensive).

I'll have to look into a pair of Converse All Stars and try them out.

Exercising barefoot is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while.

Drop a plate on your toes and you'll be pickin them up off the floor. Don't be stupid, put some fvcking shoes on.

Regardless of the advantages, you're gonna look like a bit of a **** lifting in Converse clown shoes and shorts...

You were born barefoot. If you must choose between exercising in nike running shoes or barefoot, go barefoot.

Everything start at the foot. A bad sole will disrupt the whole movement.

Btw, exercising barefoot is not dumb, dropping a plate on your toes is dumb.

haha, I have a home gym too. You do what you want, when you want, how you want. There's no need to have an ego, nobody to watch anyway. The best workouts you'll ever have.

Keep up the good work.

Because running shoes provide a ton of protection against a 45lb plate falling on your toes.

If I'm at home I'll train barefoot. If I'm at the gym, it's Nike Free's.

I don't agree with the 'don't use straps' point. If your grip is the only thing holding you back from higher poundage, than strap away.

Who said anything about the ladies?

When I walk down the street I don't walk down it wearing yellow shorts, a red and pink dotted top, a grey cardigan and a top hat. I'm not trying to impress someone, I'd just rather not look like a ****.

Nothing to do with pleasing people.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.
