I exacerbated my kidney stone problem (that I didn't realise I had) by not drinking enough water, so while I used to look down on those yoga people carrying water bottles everywhere, I'm never without a water bottle at hand nowadays and I drink 3-4 litres a day when I'm not too physically active and 4-5 litres when I'm physically active.Dehydration is I think the root of the harms it causes. Slam water before and after drinking.
Lately I really like grapefruit juice with selzer water. The Italians make some really nice sodas, because theirs is just juice and soda, like it is supposed to be. Here in the US, high fructose corn syrup rules the day, and a "fruit" soda just means it has artificial chemical flavors. Soda here is a very unhealthy beverage, but it doesn't have to be that way.I exacerbated my kidney stone problem (that I didn't realise I had) by not drinking enough water, so while I used to look down on those yoga people carrying water bottles everywhere, I'm never without a water bottle at hand nowadays and I drink 3-4 litres a day when I'm not too physically active and 4-5 litres when I'm physically active.
According to my urologist, 80% of people don't drink enough water needed by your liver and kidneys (and your other organs) to hydrate them properly. Everybody reading this, don't just drink water when you're thirsty.
A liter of water is about 5 (200ml) glasses of water, so you need to drink at least 15 glasses of water per day, like 1-2 every hour. Your urine should look like water with a slight tinge of yellow. If it's darker or smells too much, it's a clear signal your body is struggling.
This is also why doctors always want urine/stool samples (and even why the Dutch have to weird toilets). We used to call doctors 'piskijkers' (pee watchers) because many intestinal problems can be viewed in someone's urine and stool samples.
Squeeze your own fruits, don't buy packaged fruit juices, they all contain way too much sugars. I only drink homemade fruit juices and smoothies.Lately I really like grapefruit juice with selzer water. Do you track your sleep patterns? I'm currently using a fitness watch that records my deep/light/REM sleep, my heart rate, my breaths per minute, my Sp02, sleep interruptions, et cetera.Still have issues with quality sleep. But if I could nail that down, I probably would feel the same as I did in my teens/twenties in terms of vigor.
