I have a ton of energy and a consistent workout program of lifting and cardio is the key. I don't even have the cleanest diet.

I'll be 49 in March.

Sleep. Avoid processed and fast food. Weed is great if you grow it or know the grower, but you can't trust dispensaries to not sell you heavy metals and pesticides. Alcohol is obviously bad. Dehydration is I think the root of the harms it causes. Slam water before and after drinking.

I exacerbated my kidney stone problem (that I didn't realise I had) by not drinking enough water, so while I used to look down on those yoga people carrying water bottles everywhere, I'm never without a water bottle at hand nowadays and I drink 3-4 litres a day when I'm not too physically active and 4-5 litres when I'm physically active.

According to my urologist, 80% of people don't drink enough water needed by your liver and kidneys (and your other organs) to hydrate them properly. Everybody reading this, don't just drink water when you're thirsty.
A liter of water is about 5 (200ml) glasses of water, so you need to drink at least 15 glasses of water per day, like 1-2 every hour. Your urine should look like water with a slight tinge of yellow. If it's darker or smells too much, it's a clear signal your body is struggling.

This is also why doctors always want urine/stool samples (and even why the Dutch have to weird toilets). We used to call doctors 'piskijkers' (pee watchers) because many intestinal problems can be viewed in someone's urine and stool samples.

I’m 57 this year and never felt better.

I go to the gym twice a week (really push myself but not to insane levels) and try to walk as much as I can.

I limit junk food and overeating. Eat vegetables every day and have mainly chicken, low fat beef and tuna.

I only drink alcohol socially and don’t do any other drugs.

I get as much sleep as I can, sometimes I go to bed at 8:30pm if I feel tired.

I minimise stress levels, go with the flow and try not to let small things bother me anymore. People say I’m kind of Zen like especially at work.

Not that this will help with energy levels but I had an ex girlfriend who was into beauty treatments big time and got me into a daily skincare routine. Yes it’s not very masculine and it’s a pain in the a** to apply but it’s made a massive difference to my skin and made me a bit more confident.

Investing in nice clothes and fragrances also helps with confidence. Women notice these things plus it makes you feel good about yourself.

At my age I need all the help I can get lol.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Lately I really like grapefruit juice with selzer water. The Italians make some really nice sodas, because theirs is just juice and soda, like it is supposed to be. Here in the US, high fructose corn syrup rules the day, and a "fruit" soda just means it has artificial chemical flavors. Soda here is a very unhealthy beverage, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Squeeze your own fruits, don't buy packaged fruit juices, they all contain way too much sugars. I only drink homemade fruit juices and smoothies.

Yes!
OP... take note of this if you want better energy levels - I turn 61 next week... Since cleaning up my diet, and watching what I drink, I now feel as good as I did in my late 30s
Watermelons are my 'goto' fruit for juicing, you can get a LOT of liquid from just one watermelon - I scoop as much of the flesh as I can get into a liquidiser... including scraping the white/yellow 'pith' from inside the outer skin.
I use watermelon for the bulk and will add something citrus to pep-up the bland taste.... (I get through a lot of lemons and limes)
As well as giving a lot of liquid... watermelon is very good for circulation/blood flow - it contains L-citrulline, an amino acid which works as a mild vaso-dilator... In other words, as well as being generally good for fitness levels, it's also good for the little guy down-below.

Turned my life around since a major breakup earlier this year. Energy levels are up DRASTICALLY. A few months after the breakup, I would stay in bed most of the day. So I made the following changes:
  • Lifting weights + Walking- Result: I look like my 20 year old athletic self again, except a tiny bit more muscle mass.
    • Weights to increase muscle density, which impacts metabolism and longevity
    • Walking to burn fat. Better than jogging since it uses fat as a fuel source vs. carbs. I walk first thing in the morning, and also walk after every meal to keep glucose spikes down.
  • Meditation - Result: removes all unnecessary things in my mind so that I can focus on what truly matters; frees energy
  • Supplements -
    • Omega 3: I eat a lot of meat and not enough fish, this balances out my DHA-6 to DHA-3 ratio. Promotes longevity, cardio, brain health.
    • Collagen: Promotes skin and joint health
    • Creatine: Just recently started taking this over the past month. But this has been the single most impactful supplement I've ever taken. I was near a plateau earlier regarding my lifts, but this gave me what felt like afterburners. Broke through that plateau and am now cruising on the current level I'm in.
    • Vitamin C: Keeps the immune system strong while I put my body through the ringer
    • Magnesium: I don't eat enough greens to get the daily dose required. Many are deficient in it. And it helps me sleep. Take at night.
  • NoFap / Semen Retention - Result: This is fairly recent, am only on day 17, but the results are fantastic. More focus, mood is super stable. More loving to others. A general imperturbable attitude (not to the point of disrespect to others; but more so along the lines of having so much respect for self).
Still have issues with quality sleep. But if I could nail that down, I probably would feel the same as I did in my teens/twenties in terms of vigor.

I'm nearly 40.

Do you track your sleep patterns? I'm currently using a fitness watch that records my deep/light/REM sleep, my heart rate, my breaths per minute, my Sp02, sleep interruptions, et cetera.

Hi JustAroundTheCorner,
I peaked at 37 or so,during early 40's thought perhaps I was on the skids,by 45 I knew it....Anyone who works hard will get down patches...I get a saucepan of water and boil up a couple of Chicken Thighs or any meat with bones, then I fill up with scrap greens from the Garden, herbs, collards,Brocalli, add chopped up specky apples, old carrots, let it simmer half an hour or so,salvage the meat and drain off the liquor and drink it....Fixes you up a treat!

I genuinely have more energy in early 40s than 20s. Why? I am no longer getting absolutely wasted every weekend and dating/socialising/drinking 3 nights in the week. Plus my diet is better and more sleep. Also, I was always stressed about money and career in 30s. Since I’ve sorted that out through a combination of experience, counselling, meditation and also gaining a role where I can go as I please - and crucially, my wife now is wealthier so she works less….my energy and sexhs drive seems linked

My T is still 600+ and my general male hormone panel was all very good last time so maybe that’s why.

exercise for me is absolutely crucial and without that I would feel old. All I need is 2 hour long powerlifting sessions a week and a bit of cardio and walking - and STRETCH. That’s made a massive difference.

another thing which has helped the stress was giving up weed. Weed made me a pvssy and I couldn’t set boundaries or say no. Since I quit that I have no issues telling people no( telling people to F O, and I also have no issues just cutting off with people.

long story but to me it’s about stress management and exercise
