I have a lot of injuries and some serious back pain. My back pain got so bad that I'd have to stop at the gym on the way to work sometimes just to do stretches. Best thing I ever did was to stop sitting in front of a computer all day. Also, swimming, hot tub, and walking got me a ton of relief.
I lift weights 5 days/week and the older I get the more important it is to keep everything stretched out and stay hydrated.
Having good shoes and premium insoles makes a different on my foot, knee, and hip pain.
