Just read his books. He's supposed to be on the most succesfull PUA of all time.

Looked up that dude's photo. He looks downright average. Not tall and bald (everything the silly blackpillers claim to be essential to be succesfull with women) and the **** that man pulled off with women is crazy.

In your opinion how did Neil Strauss pull off being an ace Don Juan being only 5'6 and bald?

Neil Strauss is one of the most successful PUA students of all time. It has been roughly 20 years since Neil Strauss learned common PUA strategies and tactics from Mystery and other PUA teachers. For his achievements as a PUA student to be discussed 20 years later is impressive.

I've always said that Game is some combination of looks, money, status, and personality.

Pre-PUA Neil Strauss didn't have much in the way of Game. Despite the fact he held a bachelor's degree from an Ivy League school and held journalism jobs for The New York Times and Rolling Stone, he was still considered a below average prospect by women from ages 22-32. Women didn't care much for his status during those years and journalism has long had the reputation of not necessarily paying well.

The January 2004 New York Times article says that Strauss got into pickup in the last year or so. I think the timeline puts Strauss getting into pickup in late 2002-early 2003. "The Game" was published in September 2005 and became a best seller.

https://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/25/style/he-aims-he-shoots-yes.html

2003-September 2005 Strauss game was mainly personality based where post September 2005 Strauss game probably was more money and status based.

He really has no clue about woman, he only knows how to manipulate them but dont really understand woman and the social dynamics, a truly machiavellian teaching you to fail in life. He is divorced and didn't have any lasting relationships for years. Every Person will see through him, smart ones already know

He has a higher notch count than most men so it isn't accurate to call Strauss clueless.

A lot of monogamous relationships fail in time. Strauss had a monogamous relationship last for 8 years with a model. Most men can't claim that achievement even if it failed. The failure is the expectation that the relationship would last for life.

Yeah.
I remember temporarily checking out Game in the RSD days and most of the coaches there weren't even above average looking dudes or jacked like with abs or biceps. Just regular looking dudes..but sort of good with social skills?

To think the amount of charisma it took those guys to do what they did is crazy...unreal even.

Sad where the manosphere has fallen to with the whole slew of pills to swallow - Black-blue-red-rainbow pill. Easy to blame it all on the world and just quit without really going out there and putting effort..and then become bitter.

Game is a combination of looks, money, status, and personality. A man who is average level in looks, money, and status will need to be very charismatic and have strong personality attributes in order to attract, seduce, and retain.

He usee cold approach rather than OLD, and it was in the early mid 00s when the overall cultural zeitguist about pick up was different as even reflected in the movies at that time (ie Hitch 2005, 40 Year Old Virgin,.2005), the types of movies that you dont see (ie with the exception of No Hard Feelings ,2023). You also had plenty of PUA books, bootcamps and many other boards dealing with pickup.

Anything coming from that time would read differently today because OLD and social media has taken over and unless you have the looks there then you are basically doomed. Since 2013 there has been a decline with PUA to where it is today. Women are noticing this and responding by creating tic toks of men not approaching them, etc.....

Would Stauss have had the same results in this climate? He approaches a girl who had just rejected a tonne of guys on Tinder and has just connected with chad and now he is approaching her. Do you think she will be as receptive?

Thats the point, he is teaching Men how to fish for low value emotionally damaged woman, all the things he is teaching wont work on woman you want to have long term relationship with. He is basically setting People up to failure.

If you also look at some pictures of him and the model, there is on Point perfect text book example, that she never was attracted to him based on body language, but for the money. LOL

A large percentage of women are lower value and emotionally damaged. If that's the market, then Strauss/Mystery/other PUAs are showing men how to appeal to that mass market. If the options are sex with damaged women or no sex at all, then most men will choose the option of having sex.

As you see People like that dont really care about the Audience, but about making money from weak People.
The problem with that is, he is selling the notion that it is the same with all woman, no exceptions. The guy isnt the best example and role model of being a real Men. We both know how things will end up in life if you occupy his reallity, a lonely lifestyle repelling all the good People in your life.

I doubt Strauss or "Style" as he was called then would keep his main game on dating sites and then ***** about it not working. I imagine he would go for cold approaches in real life as that was his strong suit. Sure, he would've tuned and tried online dating but why play on a field where you are disadvantaged. It's not like women stopped getting out of their houses after online dating came.

I would say online dating has also put the average joe at an disadvantage . It only it puts him in a situation where he thinks he can put lower effort and have lower risk (no approach anxiety, no inner game required etc) and get the visible drool worthy high reward ( HB women's profiles on apps). It appeals to the instant gratification and baser instinct to go for the easy, safe **** . Their laziness and low risk appetite keeps them swiping even if they know they are not getting matches. Go out and try to approach in real, where you can actually show a real personality on not be judged from a thumbnail of yours alone. JessePinkman is the only one who i have seen going out Sarging.

And you're underestimating the man -- he was a rolling stones writer. He would easily get some professional photographer, his verbal game was solid so he wouldn't struggle on texting.

Think about the context of 2002-2005. Online dating websites existed then but were in the de-stigmatizing process. In 2002-2005, it was still considered more socially acceptable to meet people in person than from tech-based methods.

That's quite presumptive. A good looking well rounded woman can also have bad days, sad days or days where she's simply feeling adventurous or just wants to bang. Enter a smooth mfer like Strauss who can show a good time and she would'nt bang him?

I would say you're not entirely wrong in my opinion though. His books tell how he gets the sex (in even crazy ways) but never talks about relationships.

Sure. You're right on the bat about that..but think about how many women you know ? Are they ALL on dating apps? Most people still find love and sex the old fashioned way. Meeting people in real life.

Online dating is always going to be stacked against men. The average women would get 1000s of swipes from men who wouldn't even have the balls to speak a word to her if they saw her on the street or know what to say... It's time we accepted that fact and made peace with it instead of crying about it.

Also, remember reading Strauss pull a girl over email back when the internet was still growing.

We have seen many graphs that show online dating has skyrocked as a way of dating while other traditional means have been on a slow and steady decline since the last decade with cold approach even becoming stigmatized (if you are not good looking enough). In the age of social media if a cold approach goes bad, your face could be all over social media, or the police could be called,.etc...

If you really think the dating realities are the same as 2005 then just provide one graph from a reputable source to show that. It should be easy for you to do.

Online dating emerged in the 1990s as a reaction to the 1970s-1990s bar scene. As social circles started to weaken in the 1970s-1980s, more people ended up needing to approach strangers in public. Approaching strangers in public, either in non-bar or bar settings is very difficult and very inefficient. There's a lot of rejection involved. This was true in 1983 and 2003 and is also true in 2023.

The early wave of online dating men in the 1990s-2000s liked the idea of not having to risk rejection in-person because rejection in-person is very unpleasant. This idea has still been appealing in the 2010s-2020s.

I agree that normie range men are put at a big disadvantage with swipe apps and this was also true in the website era of online dating. There are far more men than women with any tech-based method of meeting women. Even on Instagram, the typical woman's inbox is filled with many thirsty men. This gives women an abundance mentality and makes them more selective when considering men on these channels. That's why a man needs to be Top 10% to effectively compete on a swipe app. Swipe apps aren't worth doing unless you're a Top 10% man.

You're right on the bat about that..but think about how many women you know ? Are they ALL on dating apps? Most people still find love and sex the old fashioned way. Meeting people in real life.
Most of the women I know in person right now are married women. These are the women married to my male friends. They aren't likely to be seeking new penis. The women I know are not a representative sample.

There are many women I seek around my city in non-bar venues and in bars. These women are more unlikely to be unmarried but some have boyfriends.

In the last 10 years, I do think that more women go to apps when they find themselves at some point in their lives. However, apps do have a poor track record in producing longer lasting relationships. More sustainable relationships tend to be found through some real life method.

Online dating is always going to be stacked against men. The average women would get 1000s of swipes from men who wouldn't even have the balls to speak a word to her if they saw her on the street or know what to say... It's time we accepted that fact and made peace with it instead of crying about it.
Agree with this. Men need to learn that the swipe apps don't benefit them. Tinder is 76% male, Bumble is 65% male, and Hinge is 65% male. These are tough places for men to compete effectively, even above average but not exceptional men.

Posted in a different thread but his shaved head worked well for him. Andrew Tate also has a shaved head. Pics below. Strauss left, Tate right.

Comparing the two, my gf and her friends think NS was better looking!

So let's ditch this silly "he was bald" notion, plenty of women find a shaved head incredibly sexy!

Also, the fact he was 5'6" and a great puller of women also proves height doesn't mean jack squat so I'd like to see that notion ditched too.

Bottom line the man had Game. He made it look natural. He was confident, funny, c0cky and charismatic.

It nearly destroyed him though; he had a breakdown and was hospitalized because of it.

He was unable to emotionally bond and struggled to develop healthy relationships. Including with his wife (now ex).

He wrote about all of this in his biography.
